BEFORE: "Cougar Town's" Courtney Cox has all sorts of reasons for rushing Zoe. "We were involved in a bidding war for Olivia Wilde," Cox explains in prefight, "and it was getting stupid. I just said 'screw this: batter Saldana first, then take out Wilde'. The other thing is that the producers of my new show - 'Cougar Town' - want me fighting the hottest, best young startlets available because it totally fits the idea of the show. So it's like I'm killing 3 or 4 birds with one stone here!" Saldana bright-eyed, anxious to tangle - she's hungry for rounds before the end of summer. "I've got some ground to make up," Zoe says. "Obviously, I wanted as much Alba, Fox and Wilde as I could carry, but Cox is a tough old boot and beating her will really establish me. I'm going into Malibu to do it too - the heart of Cougar country - so it's going to be extra special." Zoe in yellow bra style bikini top; SNUG black stretch short with boy leg; small black gloves; Star Trek high ponytail. Courtney in white bikini; small powder blue gloves; hair in messy beach ponytail. Standard ring set up on Malibu beach - extended bleachers forming U around the ring.

During R1: Spirited, high-octane boxing - both girls springy-legged, using the ring. Zoe's dance background evident - she's limber about her business - darting in and out, feinting, twitching, stitching with swift punches. Cox more conventional - picking off poke with her mitts, looking to counter to Zoe's sleek ribcage. Late the round, Cox smartens Saldana up with a pair of whacking hooks to waist: while Zoe's doubleclutching, Cox flashes the right hand across chin, dropping Saldana to her buns at the bell.

R2,3: Zoe blazes back - furious at the knockdown and determined to get the points back. Cox circling the wagons - she can't match Saldana's footwork or piercing handspeed. Saldana scowling prettily, circling, stitching her jab body and head, twitching sudden right hands off her shoulders to Courtney's chin. Cox keeping hands up, bobbing at the waist - she's defensive, letting Zoe operate, just trying to touch the Saldana ribcage once in a while. Saldana carries both rounds to even up the cards: she's a seething little greyhound through 3 - nostrils flaring, eyes blazing.

R4: Cox showing veteran wiles - jabbing with Zoe, managing Saldana's speed better this round. Coxie's timing compensating for Saldana's quicks: time and again, Zoe finds herself munching on Court's left hand as Cox sharpshoots the jab. Courtney's flashing right hand routinely spooking Saldana: as she's leaning away, Court drags the straight arm left hook into svelte Saldana waist, whacking away with authority.

R5: Courtney continues to show class, judgement in answer to Zoe's wiry sleekness. Educated jab disrupting Zoe's pounce, getting her off-rhythm: Cox able to clean up with scouring combo's up top and shivering hooks downstairs. Good, good body shots stroked by Court this round: Zoe's grimacing, looking a little cranky through 5.

R6: Zoe refreshes, overwhelming Cox with hand and foot speed. Circling clockwise to constantly turn the Cox right flank, Zoe's scraping away one-twos up top, scouring Courtney's pretty face, then dropping angle top paste those fullsome cougar jugs. Thrilling jackhammer pumping applied to the problem of Courtney's rack - she's grimacing, confused as Zoe's there-and-gone. Bell: Saldana glowing - smile lights up the beach - she twirls away from Cox at the ropes treating her to a wafting ponylash across the face that has Sarah Carter blushing crimson.

R7: Cox gambling - in off her jab to dig left uppercuts STIFF to Zoe's sternum, ribs. Saldana gasping, going flatfooted - she starts stooping forward behind her mitts, accepting more and more punishment to torso. Cox sees Zoe wilting, redoubles her effort: cougar-Cox still as fit as any girl out there, summons flyweight-style volume as Zoe stiffens. Midway through, Saldana paralyzed, cringing face-in-gloves...Cox just a-LATHERING those flanks, rip-snatching lefts and rights hot off the ribs. Zoe wilting, Zoe drooping...SHE'S DOWN! Zoe in tears, trembling on all fours...SHE CAN'T GET OFF HER KNEES! KO7 Courtney Cox in upset fashion.

After: Cox beaming dimply in triumph: Zoe beaten down after a spirited back and forth contest, upsetting expectations of a Saldana coming-out party. "I'm poison for girls like Zoe," Courtney grins in postfight. "She's built light, relies on her speed - but I'm fast too, and I hit stiff. I knew if I was scoring to her ribcage, I'd use her up eventually, and look (waving vaguely in Zoe's direction): ruined!" Olivia Wilde in the audience to take in the show, suitably impressed by Courtney's determination
