Before: (4 weeks following PPV) “I can’t wait to burst Hayden’s bubble,” a confident Sophia chirps in prefight, “She’s a butt-kicking waiting to happen—you watch. I’ll be all over her—smothering her beating her up—it’s gonna be great!” Panettiere pursing her lips, frowning throughout—Bush’s upbeat predictions getting under the blonde’s skin. “Sophia’s the next stop,” Panny says at the podium. “I’m going one fight, opponent at a time, There’s no rush—me and my guys want to do this right. To me, Sophia’s a Kunis-class flyweight with a Mish-class mouth that needs shutting. IF she could fight as well as she talks, she wouldn’t be a stepping-stone girl for girls like me, would she?”

Bush in bright teal bra, coffee-brown bikini bottoms, small white gloves. Hayden in conservative-cut, pea-green bikini, small black gloves. Sophia very challenging during ring instructions: hands on hips, head cocked, looking at Hayden with absolute contempt; Panettiere frowning, visibly agitated throughout.

During R1: HAYDEN GOES DOWN! Panny walks into s crashing overhand right—Sophia obviously wearing out her tape of Stevens/Panettiere, catches Hayden with the same punch Rachel dropped Panny with. Beginning of a nightmare first for Panettiere—she pulls herself together groggy at the ropes, digs in, earmuffs up, then suffers for two-and-a-half long minutes as Sophia hops in, squares away for a frisky beatdown. Bush carving a very tight uppercut in close—getting it with either hand—left ones off the left foot, right ones off the right—arching her back and clipping ‘em in between Hayden’s mitts: Panny getting picked up hard, sitting in the ropes hurt. Bush banging stout blonde waist line—parking tuff, sticking rights and lefts in behind Panny’s elbows: Hayden hunching forward, grunting in pain. Lots of pushing and jostling—Sophia standing erect and shoving into Hayden to prop her, then slamming away big-girl: Bush laying down a very effective blanket-beating of her robust foe in the first.

R2: Hayden badly shaken, lips parted, concerned exoression: she’s still hurt, legs still staggery—she can’t hold canvas as a bubbly Sophia bounces on in for more. Hayden bundled to ropes and besieged once again: Bush digging up blonde tummy, tucking in behind the elbows, then working her way up-torso with those vicious, slicing uppercuts. Signs of life from Hayden—she’s gritting her teeth, slugging back—but she’s not getting her feet under her, not her back off the ropes as Bush continues to be the bully. Sophia warned for butting Hayden’s face as the girls squirm and jostle for position inside; Sophia also told to “Keep’em up!” as she’s lapping punches to the top of Panny’s trunk line.

R3: Hayden’s resistance firming, but she’s still getting beaten to punches, backed up as Bush maintains a ferocious tempo. Sophia slugging with heartfelt aggression, baring her teeth, butting-n’-bumping, outworking Hayden inside. Blonde visibly discouraged—Sophia really helping herself to tummy, taking, taking liberties with flanks and jug, finding tidy uppercuts and pounding hips/trunks with little word from a negligent ref. Panettiere uncomfortable with back-on-ropes—she’s mostly covered up earmuff, grimacing as she leans forward to soak, offering back the odd vicious body blow. One-at-a-time punching for Hayden won’t get it done: she’s worked over at the ropes for a third consecutive round, sending a beaming Sophia Bush prancing back to her corner at the bell.

R4: Sophia features a stubby little jab, stepping-right midring, then spritzing Hayden clawing hooks, sharp right crosses as brunette steps to middle distance, continuing to dominate. Panny confused, turning, crouching, keeping dukes up—she’s not hurt by this stuff, but the different look has her completely baffled, Bush grinning throughout, starting up to heartlessly taunt her bewildered blonde. Sophia leaning in on front (left) foot, digging stout hook to the breadbasket as Hayden’s crouching forward behind mitts—Bush crowing out “TASTY!” as she samples tummy free of charge. Shutout Sophia—Hayden embarrassed, outboxed, and as she turns away at the bell, Bush helps herself to a cheerful right hand clasp of sullen blonde backside, just to underline the score. 4 rounds to love, Sophia Bush.

R5: Hayden firms: eyes hard, lips set grim, legs’re finally back—she beats Sophia to short, sharp punches midring, forcing Bush into retreat. Bush’s turn to frown, cover up sat temples: Hayden coming forward is a completely different fighter. Panny with abrupt, stiff, straight right hands setting up vicious hooks; bobbing head movement, scooting footwork propelling blonde forward. Bush’s back hits ropes for first time: Panny celebrates with a withering burst of lefts and rights to breadbasket, wowing the crowd and crumpling Sophia up with a groan. Panettiere digging now snarling as she tucks home vicious rights and lefts to the body, working her own curling uppercuts, bumping and shoulder Sophia to reset. Bush suffering, but riding it out well—hands cupping her temples, elbows in, torso crouching forward as she soaks.

R6, 7: Brutal, toe-to-toe rounds the hardest two-way fighting of Hayden’s career to this point—girls just grinding away forehead-on-forehead, digging in turns at offending tummies, ribcages, breasts and chins. Heartless, thrilling stuff—both girls snatching vicious 3 and 3 punch combinations off the other—small gloves sounding out moist  and sharp with cracking bite. Both rounds identical: two minutes of savage stalemate, slowly breaking Hayden’s way as her muscular punching starts to back Bush up. Sophia finishes up both rounds butt-on-ropes, unable to punch back at her tormentress. Panettiere pulling back, chest heaving, eyes flashing ast the bell, looking Sophia over for signs of quit.

R8: Bush still committed to inside fighting, but setting Hayden up better this round—brunette sidestepping around stiff jab, choosing the battlespace, then coming in with overhand rights: by the time battle is joined, Sophia ‘s normally up 4 or 5 punches. Bush laying in for grinding exchanges, but disengaging now, using her footwork to turn Hayden’s flanks, never letting Panny establish a comfy rhythm in close. Uppercuts still picking Hayden’s chin up with alarming ease—Bush just carving’em tidy, real tight delivery splitting Hayden’s mitts. Bell: both vixens badly worn puffy faced, bedraggled en route to corners through 8 brutal heats.

R9: Hayden being first: jolting, stubby lead rights setting up hooks body and head—Bush can’t hold her canvas. Ropes: Hayden pouring it to Bush’s increasingly shabby ribs and tummy—Sophia blurting in pain now, face crimping, eyes clamping shut as she soaks hurt—brunette trying to toe up brawny blonde arms as Hayden pushes in. BUSH TAKES A KNEE! Minute mark—determined brace of Panettiere hooks digs and digs inside Sophia’s right hip—breathless brunette cramps, then sinks teary-eyed to her right knee as seething blonde is pushed back. Hayden pacing neutral corner like a caged cat as Sophia takes a shaky-8: blonde batting mitts together, face set in stern lines as she steps-to and pours-on. Thudding beatdown—Hayden thrilling the crowd with majestic, ripping three punch combos in close: poor Sophia beaten relentlessly, does well to ship it to the bell.

R10: Hayden steely-eyed, batting mitts together as she rises from stool—she storms over to finish a wobbly butt and shopworn and HAYDEN GOES DOWN! Bush trailing a broken wing, retreating from Hayden with a stricken expression, then leaning into a torrid right as Panny wads in hands-low. Crowd roaring to it’s feet; Hayden glassy eyed, blinking, on her back in stupor; Bush bellowing, pushing at the ref as he’s bodying her back—PANNY BEATS THE COUNT! Blonde reeling, staring out of it—just pride propping her up on sturdy legs as ref repeatedly asks if she wants to continue. Hayden mumbles in the affirmative: ON COME SOPHIA! Bush goes all in with her last reserves—softening Hayden up with a right/left in the trunks, then bodying the blonde upright for a terrible pasting: Hayden’s sleepy face toggling back and forth, hands stacked at her tummy, buttocks dropping into ropes AND THE REF STEPS IN! Good Lord—TKO10 Sophia Bush!

After: Hayden hammered out on her feet, breaks down into stunned blubbering as she’s helped to her stool: Bush climbing her corner ropes and screaming in jubilation with heroic spoilers effort. Panny badly hurt early, then consistently gnawed on by an energetic brunette tonight who refused to give Hayden any breathing room. “Right hands and uppercuts,” bleats an ecstatic Sophia, “I knew I could beat her with right hands and uppercuts. She’s solid, but I put a lot on her early—I felt I was stronger than her once I’d put my hands on her for a few rounds.” Panettiere crestfallen—tough development fight a good learning experience in the long run, but for right now—Hayden’s hurting.
