Before; Big fight on the continent, doesn’t get much coverage Stateside, but has been years in the making. Marceau the best French prospect since Bardot, looks to revisit British/French rivalry with Euro bragging rights on the line both girls fight with a slick, Michael Nunn southpaw style, but Marceau with the added attraction of Jirov type body attack. Bioth girls like to counter--chess match likely. Sophie in purple push up bra and panties, white lace trim, Liz in black push up and panties, white lace trim.

During R1: Sophie luring Liz forward, making the Brit lead, and Marceau retreats, tagging Hurley with a cute right hook that is all shoulder and body turn. Hurley coming forward, using a poking straight left and trying to time her own right hook without success, but does a great job deflecting most of Marceau’s blows on her shoulders, rolling with the French girl’s punches.

R2: Liz now covering up and countering, getting Sophie to overcommit and the Brit slowly takes over the round. Liz with her gloves at her cheeks, turning and bending her torso to blunt Marceau’s attack. Chops and swipes with little strokes inside of Sophie’s wide, whipping blows, and midway through the round, Marceau’s legs give a little jig as Lz turns into a sweet left on the mouth. All Hurley to the bell as she comes inside, pushes Sophie back, and slices away with sidearm lefts to the breasts at the break.

R3: Sophie shows her resilience, soaking up Hurley’s power I the second and dominating the third. Sophie coming forward with wide left hands to the body, and retreating behind curling right hooks to the jaw, has Liz coming and going. Late in the round, both girls missing and bending into follow throughs--Sophie catches Liz across the ribs with a scathing wide left on the comeback--Hurley immediately grimacing and crumbling to the ropes at the bell.

R4: Sophie staying on Liz’s toned midsection, coming forward now behind a range finding right jab and BOOMING left hands to the body. Hurley huddled over, gives Sophie her sides and Marceau goes to work, whipping her hands in savage arcs to Liz’s waist, and finally pounding a series of right hooks in behind Liz’s elbow to fold Hurley up against the ropes. Liz in desperate shape, rolling with punches as she leans against the ropes, but the equally clever Sophie feints, mixing her shots, and catches Hurley repeatedly with sneaky, whip action lefts and rights. Hurley stung over and over, looks ready to go at the bell as Sophie finishes up with a digging left uppercut into the Brit’s sternum.

R5: Hurley coming right back, despite evident weakness in her legs, She paws at Sophie with a weak right, drawing the French girl’s left, slipping it and landing a wide left hand straight-arm  to Marceau’s mouth. Sophie badly stunned, staggers backwards as Hurley steps with her poking straight right hands. Along the ropes, Sophie is brilliant in defense, hands high, arms in, chopping with little counters from the elbow to consistently reject Liz’s advances. Hurley stepping back, looking puzzled, tries repeatedly to move in and finish, but is picked off, and beaten to the punch whoever she tries. Final minute--Sophie finally stuns Hurley with a cute left uppercut on then ropes, and the girls clinch to the bell.

R6: Liz again attacking, jerking out the right jab from the elbow, doubling it--coming in behind the whipping left hand to Sophie’s cheek. Marceau caught  flush, once again fades to the ropes to defend, but Liz smarter, more aggressive in follow up--goes to the French gut with pounding wide rights and lefts. Sophie sits on the ropes taking punishment, slipping anything headed for her face.

R7: Liz takes a round off, and Marceau up tempos, dropping the right jab from the elbow onto Hurley’s breast, and sweeping wide to the British gut with heavy left hands. After beating Liz around the ring for most of the round, Sophie backs off, lures Liz forward, and stuns Hurley with a chopping double right hook on the jaw. Liz undone, staggering and pleading with her eyes at the bell, Sophie casting a withering glare at the hurting Brit after the bell as the girls separate for their corners.

R8: Marceau continues to dominate, imposing her will on Hurley who spends more and more time sliding along the ropes, covering up, and looking defensive. Marceau especially effective sweeping the left hand to Hurley’s ribs, has Liz gritting her teeth in pain on several occasions.

R9: Liz luring Sophie forward, catches the French southpaw with short right hooks, then bends back the other way to drag the left hand into Sophie’s chest, Marceau visibly slowed by consistently getting out punches, and by the final  minute--French girl is mouth breathing, reaching with her punches, and getting tagged by the still sharp Hurley.

R10: Pitched battle opens the tenth as the girls stand flat footed, bending at the waist to make each other miss, and looking to score knockouts with looping left hands. Both girls field booming shots on the chin, but neither looks hurt, but down the stretch, clever counter punching gives Hurley the edge. Marceau missing the right hook, takes a slapping left across her mouth: Marceau missing a left hand, takes a curling right hook on her eye. Sophie blundering forward, taking shots at the bell, but taking them well to raise her mitts when it’s over. Long delay before the cards come back, but when they do--unanimous decision Sophie Marceau.

After: No love lost before or after this fight as long awaited bout yields a decisive winner. Hurley’s conditioning allowed her to outwork Sophie at the end, but Marceau’s shiftiness, and heavy body punching took a fearful toll, especially in the one-sided 4th that saw Liz teeter on the verge of quitting. Distinguished effort from both girls, and Marceau looking forward to making a US debut in the near future.
