Before: Heigl facing a tough stylistic challenge against Marceau--Sophie as cute as they come, will be very difficult for the straight head champ to find. Marceau’s shown a slugging look at times in the past, but assures press that won’t be happening tonight: “I’ll be giving Katherine a beating, but it will be more surgical than out and out brawling. It’ll be me hitting Katherine--I won’t be looking for the knockout, but she’s going to be very frustrated. She has to decide how embarrassed she wants to get--maybe she’ll stop it, who knows?” Katherine in white sports bra, light blue adidas terrycloth trunks, ponytail--Sophie in black leather push up, pink bikini bottoms.

During R1: Sophie with her right hand at her side, left coiled at her cheek, chin tucked behind that right shoulder, gives Heigl subtle angles and pivots, bending at the waist and moving her head. Katherine gives up hope of scoring to the chin, but makes hay to the midsection, scoring several smacking straight right hands to the stomach. it’s enough to give Heigl the round--Sophie content to slip and bob, unconcerned with offense at this point.

R2: Sophie continuing to give Heigl that lead right shoulder, turning away from blows, making Heigl miss, but Katherine is making the fight, coming forward and showing no signs of frustration. Heigl walking Sophie down, patiently stuffing right hands to the midriff, corralling the French girl with wide left hands to prevent escape to that side--Heigl takes the round.

R3: Sophie more active this round, still with the low lead right hand, lifting the jab off her hip, backhanding it at Heigl and stepping to the right as Katherine continues to plow forward, gloves at her cheeks. Marceau bending her knees, slinging in heavy wide left hands to the stomach, then stepping briskly away, potshots her way to points this round.

R4: Heigl getting brazen--walking through Sophie’s slapping jab and pounding heavy right hands o the torso as Marceau melts around the ring. Sophie hard to hit square, taking blows on her shoulders, and never hit clean to the head, nevertheless has to respect Katherine’s pressure. Marceau giving away another round o the cards, and more importantly, Heigl finding the range with that right hand to the French girl’s tummy.

R5: Totally different Sophie comes out, catching Heigl by complete surprise. Lifting the jab off her hip, Marceau pounds it hard against Heigl’s available face, following up with heavy left hand strikes to the lips, then pivoting to the right as Heigl soaks it up, Marceau uptemping, constantly making Heigl reset her feet, and slashing heavy punches to the face--midway through a crashing hard left, hard right hook has Katherine stutter stepping--Marceau goes onto post the shutout with power.

R6: Sophie sets about the task of taking Katherine Heigl apart with a jaw dropping blend of speed and power. Circling right, Sophie looping and lashing her right hand, setting up vicious left hand strikes to the jugs or chin, catching Heigl flush, over and over again. Katherine soaking up BOMBS, just can’t adjust, blundering forward and pounded wobbly butt over he latter half of this round. This is not reckless slugging from Marceau--she’s walking Heigl into compact, slicing power shots, then fading away to the right, patiently beating the camp to a pulp, but never sticking around for the receipt, Goes as a 10-8 without a knockdown as Marceau lays down the law--Katherine swelling badly on the left side of her face.

R7: More vicious execution from Sophie, who’s exotic eyes never leave Katherine’s drowsy face. Slashing right hooks crash over Kat’s left shoulder to swivel her head, slinging left hands lance into the bra or bash back the head as Marceau pushes off her back foot, then pivots to the right to avoid any trouble, Heigl beaten into stupor this round as Marceau feeds her power shot after power shot, then slips away unharmed. Crowd oohing and aahing at the stunning power of these blows, but again, Sophie can’t put Heigl down and she doesn’t want to risk landing the 3rd or 4th bomb consecutively that might leave her open. Another 10-8 round for Marceau on complete dominance--Heigl’s left eye swelling shut in a gruesome lump.

R8: Sophie just going to work on that eye, hammering the right hook in from the blind side, pounding in the straight left and bending low, pivoting right to escape. Heigl tragic in her insistent forward shuffle, so easy to tag and now not punching back, just stumbling forward to take her beating, It’s a cruel, meanspirited power punching festival for Sophie--beating Katherine in a wobbling meander around the ring, but never applying true finishing pressure  Heigl busted up and broken down is completely defenceless--lumbering forward on strong, curvy legs that just won’t give out. Another 10-8 round for Sophie--dark eyes glittering with cold relish at the sight of the battered champion.

R9:  Sophie really laying off, poking her right jab, then bending her face in t brush Katherine’s stomach, pivoting away, staying low as Heigl swats exhaustedly with nothing on her punches. Marceau taking the round off, just touching Heigl with nuisance pokes, dipping in and out, often slipping under Heigl’s tired blows to come up behind the big girl, clinching for a break around Katherine’s belly.

R10: Power punching returns a=fir Marceau and it’s an ugly display. Heigl framing her face with her guard--Sophie with her hands at her sides, walks into the big girl, slinging the left hand hard to the body or eaqr, then walking away with hands down to survey the damage. Heigl cuffed and buffeted from one foot to the other, turning blindly as Sophie circles her, absolutely powerless to prevent the French girl from torturing her further. Heigl’s face raw with savage abuse, eyes closed, cracked lips pouting open--Bell mercifully sounds to end the carnage as Marceau regards her handiwork with blank satisfactionb. UD10 for the winner and NEW champion--Sophie Marceau.

After: Horrendous punishment suffered by Katherine Heigl in this fight as she is beaten unrecognizable and ushered immediately to hospital. Marceau sets a punch stat record for power punches landed and remarkably doesn’t record a single knockdown--a testament to Heigl’s strength of limb and body to absorb such a withering beating. Defense set up the offense perfectly for Sophie as she started slowly, then worked her angles to merciless perfection from the fifth round on.
