Partial Report

Boxing After Dark

Before: Law trying to get respect as a new welter hopeful, setting up a fight with big blonde Natasha who had been written off just a few years ago, came back to win a title in 2008, reached the final of the 2010 welterweight tourney and enjoys her late success in shocking younger welters with her big-girl power. Both girls just flat out disrespecting each other be fore the fight, bickering like flyweights.

Fight:
During R1, Law touches Henstridge up with moderate intensity, but mixes it up well from body to head. Law stepping around the shots - not running, always setting the pace/rhythm, but she's not standing in front of Henstridge. Natasha coming off a little slower, unable to get any good punches in. K-Law following up in Rs 2, 3: busy and smart boxing - Henstridge trying to stalk her, block punches and get big but not getting off at all. Law very systematic: has a plan, and executes it. Lots of combination-punching unusual for a welterweight – Katrina alwys touchin‘ Nat up, more active, fresh n’ in command. Takes until R4 for Natasha to unpack her jab in disrupting fashion. Finally works to punch Katrina out of her rhythm – blonde following up that way during R5. Very constructive work – Law backing up at the ropes allowing Henstridge to step-to her in violent fashion, get big and blonde-brawny with right hands.

Katrina starts regrouping herself throughout R6, poppin' shots, steppin' 'round, clinching whenever Henny wants to get big. Henstridge all unconcerned, clearly a little too passive. Blonde girl apparently not hurt, but weirdly allowing Law to take initiative, lead by points.
Nat rocks Law via right cross early R7 impressively: brunette spends rest of the round trying to get herself together under thudding pressure. Henstridge now implying good blonde pressure, making Katrina take weight, feel the heat. Still, Law recovers in R8 – Henstridge looking slightly tired, allowing Katrina to come back. Similar look in R9: Henstridge stalking and blocking, Law working and moving; obviously brunette doing more to impress judges.
Law outworks Henny again during the last round, very clever, very concentrated - winning the fight without ever seriously hurting Nat, but lumping her up nicely with steady attrition. UD10 Katrina Law!

Review: KLaw impressing with a mature performance, without the recklessness sometimes spoiling her talent. Henstridge never really brought into danger, gives up the fight because she just didn’t do enough, or couldn’t.
