During: Winslet horning in on Zeta Jones territory in the States - longstanding agreement between them broken as Catherine points out in prefight. "My policy towards Kate is that she not fight on a major card west of the Bahamas, she knows this, and is deliberately disobeying my instructions. There isn't room in America for a glut of British fighters - especially mediocre ones, and I mean to nip this development in the bud. Punishment for Kate with be thorough and severe: she will suffer in this fight, and I shall send her packing back across the Atlantic where she belongs."

Winslet's heard it all before - Zeta Jones well known back home for her heavy handed edicts. "Catherine lords it over us like she's royalty or something," Kate says. Body work bumping back and forth - mostly cuffing, swatting paunch shots, tucking little hooks behind elbows - meaty stuff. Jones tidy with the right hand, keeping it at her cheek defensively, but dropping it to jaw or clawing it across the breasts when there's room. Winslet showing strong legs, holding her ground, unafraid to soak up a Zeta Jones shot to club one back herself. Nothing to choose between them in unexpectedly competitive action - Winny takes the first and third, Catherine the second and fourth in what amounts to one long, almost seamless grind-session.

R5: Jones separates herself, actually throwing less, but much more effective, accurate with her power shots this round. Catherine using her left shoulder on Winslet to push and measure, bumping with it, taking a step back and walking Winny into short right hands. Kate coming forward, belting Jones' flanks and arms pretty effectively, but she's tagged in the second minute and put wobbly butt - Jones' smooth, sneaky right hand wins her the round with nasty power.

R6: Strong shutout Jones. Still fighting off Kate's chest, but backing her up now - Catherine putting punches together in that pale British paunch, slowly degrading and stiffening Winslet. Jones still economical, but touching Winny more regularly now - shrugging short lefts and rights to gut, then ringing Winny up the uppercut, putting hooks on top, smothering the receipts. Kate back to ropes from the second minute - dukes up, not punching back. Jones able to body up when she wants, then ease back to create punching room, doubling up her hook body and head, dropping the right hand with increasing frequency off her shoulder. Winslet proving durable, sponges up a thumping beat down this round, slouches back to her corner shiny, worn, but still able-bodied.

R7: Another shutout Jones - CZJ starting to impose her will. Midring, she's working toe-to-toe with Winny, but sidestepping her, turning her, getting off to paunch, then pushing Kate behind the elbow to move her around. Uppercuts: short, sharp, clipping, starting to bang back Winslet's head on a regular basis - Jones landing, sliding to the side to avoid payback. Winny stubborn, staying in close contact with Jones, but unable to get off - slow, systematic beating piling up in her backside and pale legs. Bell: Jones dips a shoulder, digs a very late, pointless low blow between Winslet's creamy thighs, drawing a weary shout of pain from Kate. Ref on a sullen Jones, shouting at her, waggling a finger: Winslet doubled over, face taut with pain - Jones regal, unrepentant as she stalks back to her corner.

R8: Jones cleaning up - she jabs Kate to ropes, gets after her hard to the rib cage. Winny in a bad way - open mouthed, groggy and desperate - she's slugging back, picking Jones up right uppercuts, but Catherine's shrugging 'em off to stay in there. Jones using her left shoulder to butt and bump, tidying up Winslet's jugs, ribs and tummy with consistent thudding lefts and rights. Good grinding fare - Winslet steadily reduced, methodically taken apart - down the stretch, she's badly deteriorated, easy pickin's. Jones swats the liver a hook, doubles up the left uppercut to chin - Kate comes undone, basically out on her feet and Jones is able to bury her coup-de-grace hook flat on Katie's weeping liver. Gutshot Winslet sobs, sinks to her knees as Jones steps back, glaring down in hot satisfaction. KO8 in workmanlike fashion, Catherine Zeta Jones.

After: Jones getting after Winslet like it was a fight in a Welsh coal mine - mouth on shoulder most of the night, bumping, rubbing, and slugging up close and personal. Katie stubborn and competitive in the first half, but gradually worn down and dismantled - it's a heartbreaking night for a girl desperate to throw off the Zeta Jones yoke. Catherine de-gloved, struts into the Winslet corner, tugs battered beauty up off her stool - Jones looking to put her stamp all over a woozy, discouraged Kate. Catherine with a strong right arm around the waist parades Katie to all four corners, posing and smiling as flashbulbs burst.
