DANIELLE ROSE RUSSELL VS HALEY LU RICHARDSON
CELEBRITY BOXING AFTER DARK

Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Danielle: 21 YO, 5’3 (1.60 m), 5-7-0, 5 KO since 2019, Foxfire Boxing

Haley Lu: 25 YO, 5’5 (1.65 m), 0-1-0 since 2021, Unmanaged.

Before: “I’ve know all about Danielle’s 2020 record,” announced Haley Lu Richardson at the pre-fight press meeting. “ After beating Maia Mitchell in July, she lost her next 3 fights in a row, Cierra Ramirez, Chloe Moretz and Freya Allen. All of them (except Chloe) newbies like me. I figure she’s feeling the pressure and she thinks I must be beatable since Meg Donnelly beat me at the Asylum last month. Well, I don’t see Russell as another Meg Donnelly, I think she’s someone I can beat and get my first win. That’s going to make the fighter with the biggest motivation.”

DRR not pleased with Haley Lu’s statements: “She talks like I am some kind of jobber she just role over and get a cheap win. OK, I was 1-3 last year. I didn’t like it and I sure don’t want to see it continue this year. Haley Lu is kidding herself if she thinks she’s got more motivation than I do. I want to win and I want to start with her!”

Two young women give each other icy looks, but keep their tempers, much to the disappointment of catfight fans. There is a lot at stake in this bout and it’s no wonder feelings are running high. They are still running high as the two fighter s climb into the ring on Fight Night.

Danielle in black one piece swimsuit with red “Christmas tree ornament” design appliques. Red gloves and boots with black laces. Haley in white one piece with China blue pattern. White gloves and boots with blue laces. Both fighters with hair pulled back in battle braids. The two look impatient as referee drones through the ring instructions. Quick glove tap and both hurry to their corners to tensely await the bell. It sounds: DING DING!

R1: Haley moves quickly and hammers hard at Dani’s jaw with her first blows. They connect solidly and Dani’s legs get rubbery as she lurches back. Haley advancing and banging more shots to Dani’s jaw, chin and head until DRR can get her mitts up to cover them. Haley doesn’t lose a bet as she moves to Dani’s stomach with pounding hooks. Dani trying to counter with jabs into Haley’s face, but Haley seems to ignore them. Haley keeping up the body pressure and she’s forcing Dani back. Dani now tries countering to Haley’s body with hooks of her own. This backfires as now Haley can again swat at Dani to the jaw and side of the head. DRR forced to cover up and pretty much let Haley work her over to the body until the bell sounds., Haley Lu Richardson wins first round wide.

R2: Danielle now attacking as R2 commences. She catches Haley coming in with a big swiping right on the chops. Haley comes to a stunned halt, but gets her mitts up to block DRR head shot follow ups. Dani now goes after Haley to the body. Solid, whumping punishment to the stomach rib cage and breasts. Then Haley fires back with barrage of counters to DRR’s stomach, ribs and especially DRR’s bulging breast line. DRR stung, gives ground, but quickly counterattacks and her digging hooks to the belly are soon forcing Haley back. DRR adds an overhand right to the side of Haley’s head to put a tremor through the newcomer’s body. Haley still fighting back, though and they exchange down to the bell. Judges give round to Danielle Rose Russell, but it was close.

R3: Haley fighting back hard as the new round opens. Danielle has come charging out, but Haley slips to one side and wallops DRR on the side of the head. Dani goes lurching sideways to her right with Haley churning in the leather blast DRR’s left flank ribs. Dani driven sideway into the ropes and Haley digs in with more hooks to roast those Russell side ribs. Danielle sliding along the ropes finally turns and wraps Haley up in a clinch. Referee separates them. Dani able to use some hooks against Haley’s midsection, but Haley lashes back at Russell’s jutting juggs. Bell ends the round. DRR glaring defiantly at Haley, but moves slowly indicating her body is aching with pain. Haley looks pleased with herself as she goes to her corner. She has won R3 by a wide margin.

R4: Foxfire corner crew working on Dani as trainer Virginia Madsen talks with her fighter. Bell sounds and Dani actually looks pretty good as she moves out. Haley coming at her, seems to try a feint at Dani’s aching juggs, but DRR doesn’t fall for it as she blocks sneaky overhand right coming at her jaw. Then Dani swings back with a right to the jaw of her own. Haley smacked hard and recoils back., Dani now follows up with a steady barrage of shots to head and body. Haley trying to fight back with the jab, but is getting swatted too often to the head and her legs starting to quiver as she retreats. Danielle now moving to cut off the ring and get Haley back into the ropes. Haley trying to fight back but then takes an uppercut to the chin that propels Haley back into the ropes. Haley buries her face in her gloves as Dani pounds away at Haley’s shuddering torso until the bell rings, Dani getting into Haley’s face when she tries to leave the ropes. Haley trying to push DRR away and referee has to step in to break it up. DRR wins the round wide.

R5: Haley Lu Richardson looks indignant as she sits on her stool during the break and glares over at Dani while pounding her mitts together, Dani glares right back and the tension is thick between the two as the bell rings.

Haley and Danielle come charging out. They exchange booming rights and then lefts to the head, They recoil from the impacts, but plunge at each moments later. Again they swing for the head, but Dani’s only grazes the side of Haley’s head as Haley crunches in Dani’s chin. Dani stumbles blindly forward and Haley able to add a right to the jaw. DOWN GOES DANIELLE! Dani sprawls to her side. Haley hurries to the neutral corner as the referee starts to count, Dani on all fours panting and clearly trying to pull herself together. As the referees count moves up, DRR takes a deep breath and rises. She beats the count at “EIGHT!” Now she looks over at Haley motions for her to “come and get me!” Haley can almost be heard to growl as she heads for DRR after the referee’s signal. In comes Haley, but Dani charging her. There is a sound of hooks slamming home, with Dani’s getting in with the more devastating impact as Haley doubles up with a gurgle. Then Dani rips an uppercut into Haley’s chin AND DOWN GOES HALEY! Haley sinks to her knees and kneels there with a glassy look in her eyes.

Now it is Dani trotting off to the neutral corner as the referee stands over the kneeling Haley and starts to count. Haley steadying herself, slowly forcing herself up, takes two tries, but she makes it erect as the referee calls out “NINE!” Referee looks at Haley who angrily declares: “I am fine! I can beat her!” Ref nods and waves to Dani. Dani looks shrugs and heads for her stubborn rival. Haley moves to meet her, but promptly take smashing right to the jaw and then left to the belly. Haley trying to scramble away, but gets cut off by Danielle ad driven to the ropes by more hooks to the body, Haley desperately trying to slide along the ropes, but she can’t keep her mitts up, Dani swinging freely at Haley’s head knocking it around in a fashion that has alarmed ringsiders calling for the referee to intervene! AND THE REFEREE JUMPS IN! Official thrusts himself between Dani and Haley and whisks the battered rookie to safety.

THE WINNER: DANIELLE ROSE RUSSELL DEFEATS HALEY LU RICHARDSON TKO5!

After: DRR looks at the sight of the wrecked Haley Lu Richardson with satisfaction and then raises her her arms in victory. Mixed reaction from crowd. Many cheers for Dani, but some boos from those who plainly think she went too far with Haley Lu.

“It wasn’t up to me to stop the fight,” Dani later says defensively to Archer News’ Skip Tracey. “If Richardson didn’t have the sense to just fall down, it’s the ref’s job to save her from herself. Which he did. She wasn’t hurt all that bad and I didn’t Walk her anything like that. Things got pretty intense between us, I admit, but I didn’t need to rub it in. She knows who was the better fighter.”

It is a much later that Skip is able to speak with Haley Lu Richardson: “She beat me that night an that’s all she accomplished. I had no idea she was such a bully, but she won’t intimidate me next time. I hope there will be an next time. She is nowhere near as good as she thinks she is!”

Surprising intense battle between Danielle Russell and the newbie Haley Lu Richardson. DRR pulled out the win in a wild R5 in which both fighters went down, but Dani was able to get up and stay up as eventually beat Haley into a stoppage. This was a fight DRR badly needed to win and she did, but Haley Richardson made her work hard to get it. Hopefully we have not seen the last of Ms. Richardson and this will mark an extended comeback for Ms. Russell.
