VIX: A Chilly Reception @ The Winter Gardens (UK)

1. Eden Cohen vs Irina Shayk

BEFORE:
“New year, new goals, new girls to beat,” Eden beams from her perch at the table.

For someone who has taken her first steps into superstardom, Cohen still looks cocky as hell, flaunting her curves on stage and enjoying the camera flashes, before sitting down earlier to meet the press.

“I’ve got a big rematch with Valentina coming up next week, but first, it’s time to take out some Russian trash,” Eden says, clearly referring to her adversary sitting across the room.

Irina Shayk hasn’t had the most stellar record on the planet, having lost all past eight fights and not having won a match since 2017. Still, don’t let that stop her spirits, with the SI swimsuit model looking ravishing as she posed on stage with both hands on her hips and blowing kisses at the audience.

“Eden’s got spirit, but let’s not forget I still have more fights than her,” Irina says to the crowd, unrattled by Eden’s earlier comments. “If she wants a fight, she’s going to get one.”

Ladies chest up at the podium and they’re similar in stature and build, both looking toned despite being more than a decade apart in terms of age. Before things can get too heated, the fight official pushes both women apart with a hand and arm shoved in between, but Eden’s still smooching her lips and winking in Irina’s direction, threatening to make this quick.

Fight night and both brunettes are squared off at opposite ends of the ring. Let’s not forget: we’re LIVE in the heart of London for this VIX event, with the ladies having to warm their loins as they entered the famed Winter Gardens earlier in the day. Now, however, Eden and Irina have shed off their fur coats and woolen scarves, now stretching in sports bras and bikini bottoms.

Eden raising her hands high when her name is announced - she’s wearing a baby pink crop top and a black thong, drawing more wolf whistles when she shakes her tanned ass for the audience. Irina looks more stoic, throwing an arm into the air as well and then quickly settling into her fighting stance in the other corner. She’s wearing a dark navy sports bra and white boxing trunks.

Ladies ignore the call to touch gloves, with Eden’s white digits already raised and ready to rumble against Irina’s pair of red. HERE WE GO with ten rounds of Lightweight action!

ROUND 1:
Girls CLASH in the center to the mighty roar of cheers as we kickstart another VIX event in sulky London! Immediately they go for the other girl’s head, bashing punches into the arms before quickly covering up to absorb the other woman’s counter blitz. Eden’s fighting with spirit and energy that’s befitting a new, younger girl, and at first, she’s hammering Irina with everything she’s got, drawing a gasp from Irina’s lips when a stray combo stings her straight. But Irina’s steady nature pays off in the end, absorbing most of Eden’s wild attacks before choosing her comeback well: a nasty hook to the chin swivels Eden’s head to the side, before another overhand bashes into the side again. Cohen looks shaken but refuses to back away, continues to stick her gloves into Irina’s chest and body in a blatant attempt to pay her Russian counterpart back. But Shayk stays calm and ROCKS another hook into her face, this time forcing Cohen to back off for good, or else. Bell rings and it ain’t the fairytale opening Cohen was expecting - she came out of that last exchange worse for wear, now scowling on her way back to her corner, whereas Irina is all smiles on her way back to her own.

ROUND 2:
Eden takes some advice from her corner in between rounds, with Steve Boyd whispering hard into her ear and then giving her a smooch on the cheek for good luck. Poor Alexis Ren ain’t gonna like that image, but what can she do when her rival ain’t sharing the same ring as her tonight? Eden seems fired up when the bell rings again, this time staying loose and fast on her feet and refusing to engage Irina in another high stakes brawl in the middle. Irina’s trying to barrel her way into Eden’s face to continue the abuse, but Cohen is scooting out of the way just in time, controlling the Russian model with well-placed jabs to her nose and cheek, frustrating each attempt. Cohen shows us how it’s done here, and what expert training and conditioning can do to your strategy. Both girls get into another in-your-face melee towards the end of the round, arms wrapped around shoulders as they clinch up and go wrestling into the ropes, where Irina manages to sock her foe to the mouth several times, but Cohen not some helpless babe in the woods either, bringing an arm low and whacking away at the Russian’s undercarriage. A strong comeback for Cohen this time when the bell rings and the referee jumps in to separate the action.

ROUND 3:
Irina’s got plenty of spirit herself - there’s no doubt about that. The question is whether she can go toe-to-toe with a younger, hungrier fighter for another eight rounds. Already at the sound of the bell, Irina looks tired, her mouth hanging open and her step wavering slightly as she comes out of the corner. Cohen, however, is already goading her forward, bouncing left and right on her feet before SPRINGING forth in a sudden blitz attack! The Vixen probably smelled blood and decided to POUNCE! Irina lets out a groan as the punches rain down on her arms and body, Eden pushing in and hounding her with shots overhead or behind the guard, before punctuating each flurry with a reach under and smack of leather to the tummy. Shayk may be digging deep and about to spring her own counterattack, but it doesn’t come. Instead, she’s beaten backwards and into the ropes, desperately covering her face up with both hands but ultimately getting swiveled and rocked by Cohen’s spirited hooks left and right!! Cohen lets out another big shout as she squares her shoulders and SWINGS for the fences, a right hook catching Irina on the face and sending her SPINNING down to her side!! THIS MIGHT BE IT!! Irina left blubbering and breathing hard by the ropes, looking absolutely gobsmacked! The referee begins the count as Eden parades herself back to the neutral corner, but it ain’t no use - Irina barely is able to lift her head off the ground as the count passes 10! It’s OVER!!

Official Decision: Eden Cohen defeats Irina Shayk via KO3!

AFTER:
“You see this, Fradegrada?! This is what I’m going to do to you next week!” Eden shouts out into the arena, helping herself in the aftermath to two fistfuls of Irina’s hair and hauling the beaten model back to her feet.

Irina initially protests, letting out a shout of pain as she gets forced back up, but a hard elbow to the chin silences her, before Eden whips her across the ring with a nasty Hair Pull and delighted scowl. Shayk lands halfway across the canvas with a PLOP! And another groan, her dishevelled hair framing her face barely inches from the canvas.

Eden gives a curt nod before waltzing back to her corner to celebrate, having opened this VIX event in dominant fashion indeed!
