NEW STABLE WAR MEMO LEAKED! HMK LOWDOWN ON FOXFIRE!

HOT FIGHTERS has recently received via mysterious e-mail the HMK analysis of their Foxfire opponents. Prepared by FCBA outsider Samaire Armstrong, it takes a more jaundiced view of the opposition than Foxfire’s Danielle Harris did of HMK. It is unknown how HMK leader Heather Kozar reacted to the document. An HMK spokesperson said; “That was supposed to be an internal document. We will have no comment on it. Ms. Armstrong’s opinions are her own.”

(For those unacquainted with her, SAMAIRE ARMSTRONG:

10/31/80; 5’5; She was with HMK in 2004. 1W 4 L between 7/9/04-9/22/06. Her one win was KO3 over Lacey Chabert on 5/26/06. She lost twice to Kelly Packard, once to Kelly Monaco and once to Jennifer Connelly. Professional she’s been on THE O.C. and DIRTY SEXY MONEY).

SARAH CARTER.

(10.30.80. 5’4 ½.  She’ll be taking on HMK’s KATE BOSWORTH. She started in the FCBA on 4/3/03 with a 1Pt. Dec. over Kristin Kreuk. Since then she has record of 23 Wins; 12 Losses; 3 Draws. This year she’s had 5 Wins; 4 Losses; 1 Draw.

Carter has an “Ice Queen” reputation, but, in fact, she has a temper and her many of her fights show this emotionality. Studying her 2008 fights I noticed that opponents able to hurt her as early as the first round: Kelly Monaco on 1/11/08;  Kristen Bell on 3/21/08; and Kristin Kreuk on 5/17/08 won the fight with later knockouts (K010 for Monaco; KO3 for Bell. TKO4 for Kreuk. On the other hand Michelle Williams (7/10/08) Carter had an lead until Williams got her to brawl in R9 and then finished her off in R10.

Carter can be a cruel fighter especially to rookies: she beat three of them this year—Vanessa Hudgens (KO5 on 4/18/08); Brenda Song (KO8 on 7/25/08). And Leighton Meester (UD10 on 10/3/08). Though she can be nasty while beating Reese Witherspoon to a TKO7 stupor on 2/9/08. Her last fight was a 1 Pt. Decision over  bitter rival Lacey Chabert (Carter won a 1 point decision but got knocked cold by Chabert in the post-fight.

Carter was a loud advisor to stablemate Hayden Panettiere in her 10/31/08 win over Kate. I think she’ll now be convinced she has Kate all figured and will likely try to dominate her. Kate needs to rock Carter early and often, then keep up the pressure until she crumbles.

ELISABETH HARNOIS.

(I must tell you that several weeks ago I had an encounter with Harnois in a local nightclub and the aggressive blonde started a fight that ended up with her a cell. I must admit that I am not unprejudiced about her, but looking at her sorry record, facts are facts).

(3/19/79. 5’6.  Started in the FCBA on 3/19/05 with a UD10 loss to Shannen Doherty. Since then she managed to win only 2 FCBA bouts (Rachael Leigh Cook on 4/1/05 KO9 and Kelly Clarkson on 7/21/06 a 1 point decision) while losing 10  (including a TKO8 to Eva Longoria on 3/20/07). She is Foxfire’s Director of Communications where she is issuing press releases when not nagging the FCBA front office for yet another chance to embarrass herself. Her 2008 record is saw her losing a UD10 to Kristin Kreuk (3/20/08), a TKO1 to Rachel Bilson (5/2/08) and a KO 7 to Blake Lively on 6/26/08.

Harnois’ Stable War opponent will be CARMELLA DECESARE. Carm should just go after her and keep punching until Harnois is finished. Maybe then she’ll finally listen to TRACTORPULL and stick with writing press releases.

(HF Editor’s note: Apparently Ms. Harnois got wind of Ms. Armstrong’s scathing comments and sent us an e-mail saying “considering her crappy record, Armstrong’s got her never dissing mine! Enthusiasm and desire should count for something in the FCBA!” HF replies: They do, Ms. Harnois, just not on your win/loss record.)

RACHEL MCADAMS

(10/7/76; 5’5.)  Started her FCBA on 8/19/05 with a KO6 over Poppy Montgomery. Now has a record of 22 Wins; 12 Losses; 1 Draw. Most notable feat was her Unified Bantamweight title reign from 8/8/06 to 2/17/07 when she successfully defended the belts a record 8 times before losing them to Kelly Hu.  Later in 2007 she lost  three still impressive fights  arch-rival Neve Campbell. In 2008, McAdams has gone 3-3. Her HMK opponent will be SCARLETT JOHANSSON.

McAdams year got off to a rocky start with a KO3 loss to Missy Peregrym on 3/7/08. The fight with featured Pergrym’s pulverizing jab established the newcomer as a serious force at bantamweight and it’s been no surprise she has since risen to become champion. McAdams went on to fight an exhausting battle with Julie Benz, a fight remarkable for it’s alternate one-sided rounds. McAdams gained dominance and took the UD10.

McAdams high caliber job plus a follow up systematic head and body attack then got her a KO3 win over Jennifer Love Hewitt (5/17/08) This set up a rematch with Missy Peregrym on 7/10/08. This time McAdams went the distance, but took a heavy shelling from Peregrym, especially in the final round.

On 8/23/08, McAdams took on HISC’s new hire at bantam, Sophia Bush. Bush did give McAdams some problems, but McAdams superior, disciplined punching got her the eventual UD10 win.

Finally, McAdams faced off against Britney Spears. Spears got the UD10 with furious back and forth action. It appeared to be a case of Spears winning with the better performance especially in surviving a R10 surge by McAdams.

After their second fight, Missy Peregrym commented on McAdams toughness and I think Scarlett needs to bear that in mind. That jab to the body is going to be problems for Johannson and she is going to have to come up with an effective counter for it. This could be a really hard fight for HMK to win, but it is not impossible.

MANDY MOORE

(7/2/84; 5’10; Began her FCBA career on 7/2/04 with a KO3 lost to Jewel Kilcher. Since then she has amassed 13 Wins; 13 Losses; 0 Draws. In 2008 she has had 4 Wins and 3 Losses. HMK OPPONENT: TRICIA HELFER)

Tricia Helfer’s not used to fighting at Welterweight and she’s going to have problems with Moore. Moore started the year by taking the Unified Welter title from Ch. Nadia Bjorlin with a KO2 and showing her pulverizing punching. She defended the title first against Elizabeth Berkley on 4/5/08, she got a UD10 when Berkley proved be a very a game opponent, but Moore’s jab helped get her out of trouble. Nadia Bjorlin was back on 5/2/08, Moore won a UD10, but this time she had to use a “punch and clutch” strategy of constantly holding Bjorlin (who bitterly complained about it post-fight). Moore then lost the title on 5/29/08 to a Torrie Wilson (KO10). Wilson had to make a huge, huge comeback to win this, which tells me Moore can get over-confident during a fight. Helfer should bear that in mind in her fight planning.

Moore then fought  Laura Prepon on 7/10/08 winning a slow, grinding, back and forth UD10, but the 9/5/08 saw Prepon turn it around. She surprised Moore with her effective jabbing and then went after Moore’s chin. Moore went down and didn’t get up in a KO1.

Moore’s last fight was with Natasha Henstridge. A bit of history here. When Foxfire Boxing was first formed in 2005, it was based on the old Mounties stable (Sarah Carter and Rachel McAdams were from this group) and so it was expected Henstridge would be signed as their welterweight. However, Henstridge learned that Foxfire was also talking to Mandy Moore and suspected Moore was their preferred welter. Henstridge then announced she would not sign with the group. She has since signed with the Kruzhers but is known to bear a grudge against Mandy Moore. If the grudge stories are true, Henstridge certainly got her revenge with this fight. It was actually a close fight evenly split in rounds, but with Henstridge gaining with win through a R2 knockdown. It had to be galling to Moore that Henstridge then won the Welterweight title from Nadia Bjorlin.

Moore is going to be a challenge for Tricia Helfer, but Moore has shown she can be defeated. Beware her trying the “punch and clutch’ she used against Bjorlin.

HAYDEN PANETTIERE

(8/16/89. 5’1 ¾. Started 11/3/06 losing to Kristin Keuk KO7. She now has 18 Wins; 9 Losses and 1 Draw. In 2008 she has 8 Wins; 4 Losses and 0 Draws. She will fighting HMK’s EVA LONGORIA.

The little blonde darling of the flyweight division knows how to win, except when there’s a title on the line. She’s had three shots at the Flyweight Title and the best she could do was a draw on 3/30/07 to Michelle Williams, since then she’s dropped  a UD1O to Natalie Portman on 3/7/08 and a TKO4 to Kristen Bell on 5/2/08.

We took careful note of her fights against veterans. She got a 1 Pt. Dec over Alyssa Milano to start the year (1/11/08). She showed first round jitters and had to overcome a mid-rounds Milano rally to get the win. Her next fight was a KO10 win over Virginie Ledoyen on 2/22/08. Hard, hard, back and forth fighting, that Panettiere finally won with the last round KO. That set her up for the Flyweight Title loss to Portman. Portman won with a dazzling defense that didn’t so much hurt Panettiere as nibble and frustrate her.

Panettiere came back from the loss with a TKO3 win over Jessica Simpson on 3/21/08 beating back a Simpson offensive in R2 and then launching a furious body attack of her own in R3 to force a stoppage. Panettiere then took on young rival Hilary Duff on 4/18/08. She got the UD1o, but very nearly blew in R10 when Duff suddenly came back hard and gave her a serious beating. Still, this set up Panettiere’s second title shot of the year on 5/2/08 against Kristen Bell., but this ended in one of the worst maulings of her young  career. Bell startled Panettiere with her constant pre-emptive attacks. Panettiere grew obviously frustrated and then Bell lowered the boom over R3 & R4..

On 5/17/08 Panettiere got the better of veteran Claire Danes with a TKO6 in a good comeback from her loss to Bell. It was supposed to be the kid’s strength vs. Danes’ boxing skills, but R6 degenerated into a brawl as Danes grabbed Hayden’s head and Panettiere punched Danes’ thighs and lower abdominals. Then Panettiere followed up with a severe face pasting that led to the fight being stopped.

On 7/10/08. Panettiere got upset by rookie Brenda Song. Song was able to use nimbleness and tidy blasts to keep Panettiere in trouble. A jug and liver attack led to Hayden being trapped against the ropes and pounded to a TKO3.

Panettiere faced yet another rookie rival, Vanessa Hudgens on 7/25/08. Hudgens did give Hayden some problems, but once Panettiere found Vanessa’s chin in R7, it was soon over with a KO.

Then Claire Danes rolled back to Panettiere’s life on 8/23/08 and the two battled it out. This time Danes’ witheringly accurate punching inflicted more damage on Hayden than Panettiere was able to administer to the veteran who walked off with the UD10.

Rachel Bilson had defeated two other Foxfire flyweights (Sarah Carter and Danielle Harris) and now Hayden came to deal with her on 10/3/08. Bilson scored knockdowns in each of the first two rounds, but Panettiere hung on, steadied herself in later rounds and applied more and more punching pressure. Bilson finally went down in a KO6.

Panettiere’s last fight on 10/31/08 was with Kate Bosworth and Hayden plainly had trouble with Kate’s darting quickness that had her battered after 5 rounds. Angry lecture from Sarah Carter seemed to goad Panettiere back into the fight. Kate may also have made a mistake trying to match her punch rate, which she proved unable to do and eventually she was KO’d in R9.

My advice to Eva is not to make Kate’s mistake and try to out-punch Panettiere. I don’t think that will work. Panettiere is still young and some pre-fight pressure tactics might rattle her. She shown some signs of being a bit in awe of Eva and I would advise Eva to see if she can’t try some mind games with this. As for the fight itself, Panettiere likes to come forward and this could be something to exploit. She is a talented fighter, but she is beatable, especially to an opponent with a good plan.

LAURA VANDERVOORT

(9/22/84; 5’7; Began 10/19.07 with a UD10 Loss to Angie Harmon, all other fights in 2008 so that her record is now 4-4-1. HMK OPPONENT: BRITTANY DANIEL.

Apparently Foxfire is wishing they had someone else fighting Brittany as their scout’s memo kept talking about Brittany vs. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who’ll be having problems of her own with Erica Durance. It’s not surprising Foxfire is worried. Vandervoort has talent, but she’s green as grace and it’s hard to see her keeping up with a veteran like Brittany. That said, Vandervoort has been showing progress of late and Brittany shouldn’t be taking her too lightly.

Carmella got the rookie’s year off to a losing start on 1/10/08. Vandervoort actually won the first three rounds, but Carm’s body attack wore the rookie down and won the day with a TKO8. Laura didn’t get back in action until 5/16/08 when she faced Alana de la Garza. She actually have de la Garza quite a fight, even giving her a ponytail lashing at the end of one successful round. Unfortunately, Alana rallied and knocked the blonde out in R8.

That led to a technically impressive, but still frustrating draw with Hilarie Burton on 5/29/08. Vandervoort then headed for the beach got her first win, a UD10 over soap veteran Lisa Rinna on 6/26/08. This was a battle of attrition that certainly favored the younger Laura V. Vandervoort then faced off against the veteran Charisma Carpenter on 9/19/08 and looked good in a close UD10 loss.

She then headed to Hawaii where she racked up three wins on the beaches there:

Vanessa Manillo (KO2), Brooke Burke (KO7), and Maria Menounous (KO7).. While none of these three are in Brittany’s class, they should give the rookie a lot of confidence. However, I noted Brittany’s clever taunting of Laura and how it plainly got to her during the signing ceremony. I think the kid can be rattled and a rattled rookie usually means a short fight. Brittany should try to avoid going long with the kid, too many things can go wrong, and an early stoppage is the safest course.

MARY ELIZABETH WINSTEAD.

(11/28/84; 5’8.  Began her FCBA career on 7/12/07 with a TKO8 loss to Katherine Heigl. She now has 11 Wins; 9 Losses; 0 Draws.  In 2008 her record is 7 Wins; 3 Losses. Her HMK opponent will be UNIFIED LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION ERICA DURANCE).

MEW (as her fans call her) has a reputation as an “over-achiever”. Certainly she has lost a good many fights to distinguished names: (Katherine Heigl, Jennifer O’Dell, Ali Larter, Kaley Cuoco and Missy Peregrym), but her management seems to have pulled her back from fighting such top-line opponents this year and allowed her to build up her confidence against newcomers or lesser names. This seems to have improved her gane as well as her win/loss record.

Winstead started the year with a UD10 loss to Navi Rawat on 1/25/08 mainly because Rawat had piled up enough early points to survive a second half MEW surge. In fact, many observers thought Winstead looked fresher at the end than Rawat. Her next fight on 2/22/08 against Aussie Holly Valance showed MEW extraordinarily competitive even though she was a serious underdog against Valance. Winstead took an awful pounding but Valance couldn’t put her out.

Finally, Winstead got her first win of the yeat, TKO7 over Anne Hathaway on 3/20/08. Winstead managed to dodge Hathaway’s fearsome jab while going to the body. Finally, Hathaway got trapped against the ropes and Winstead worked her over until the fight was stopped.

Next up, MEW faced rookie Camilla Belle (KO3) on  6/26/08. Belle ‘s a smooth mover and was actually the betting favorite, but she made the mistake of going after Winstead’s perky rack and that got her knocked out by a Winstead overhand right

.(HF Editors’s note:, we hear Camilla’s been called out by C & W rookie Taylor Swift after Belle started dating Swift’s ex-Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers. One can only hope we’ll get to see this soap opera make it into a ring near us. There’s nothing like a hijacked b.f. to spice up a fight!)

On 7/10/08, Winstead took on the rookie Adrienne Palicki. She managed to evade the bigger young woman while working her over over. Fight ended in a startling TKO1)

After three rookies in a row, Winstead then moved on to oft-overlooked veteran Gabrielle Union. MEW took a heavy beating, but just kept hustling until she ended up witn a slender point one win. Perhaps, she and her management were getting a little too confident  as they sent her against Karen Cliché on 9/19/08. Cliché had dropped down in weight, but she had little trouble battering MEW so that even this tough fighter ended up on her face in a KO4.

Yvonne Strahovski returned on 10/17/08 and spent the first five rounds battering Winstead. However Winstead rallied behind her jab and fought her way back into the fight until it ended with a TKO9.

Winstead last fight was on 11/15/06, a KO6 win over Abbie Cornish. It seemed to many observers that this was  her most comprehensive professional bout. Using a V-front, wearing the blonde down and battering her helpless.

So what does this mean for HMK’s Erica Durance. First, maintain pressure, just because Winstead is hurt doesn’t mean she’s finished, in fact, she s often more dangerous when hurt. She also has a good jab and defensive skills. Still, she hasn’t been  fighting too many ranked fighters and hasn’t had much success when she did. So I think Erica has an excellent chance to beat her, but she should not expect an easy win.

In summary, I would like to say that I expect HMK to do very well in this stable war and think they could win 4 or more bout.

Signed,

Samaire Armstrong
