23 April 1999 Charisma Carpenter vs Elisabeth Shue

Before: Shue a rugged blonde and a step up the food chain for Charisma who has been bludgeoning her way up the rankings with a strong of very impressive victories., Elisabeth brings a strong inside game into this fight—and although a big enough hitter to hurt Charisma, pundits wonder whether she’ll be able to get close to the nimble, hard hitting brunette. Red high cut briefs, black top for Charisma, black two piece gymnastics suit for Liz.

During R1: Liz follows Charisma all around the ring, bobbing outside, but the Carpenter jab is fast and hard tonight, and Carpenter seems to have no problem finding Shue’s face. Carpenter shuts Shue out with the left hand, and great movements, stepping around the shorter blonde and walking her into punches, Shue unhurt, but she won’t win the fight this way.

R2: Charisma seems willing to stand toe to toe this round, and the action seems to Elisabeth’s liking, She goes cheek to cheek with Charisma, and works her right hand free to hammer away at the taut sternum of the brunette for most of the round. Charisma seems to be having difficulty with the in-fighting, but in the final minute, she steps back to get the angle, clips Shue with a short left uppercut, steps to Beth’s left and plows her face with a short right and Liz is done! Beth beats the count but is clearly shaky. Charisma flows in as Shue sags into the ropes, and it’s a vicious finishing flurry by Carpenter. Nifty footwork sees her bounce in and out on Shue, neatly making the blonde miss and pounding her in return with that crushing left hook. It’s too much all at once for Liz, and she crumples to her hands and knees in the corner. Beth can’t beat the count, and Carpenter struts away a shocking KO victor!

After: Carpenter looks to be for real with a devastating, very professional outing against another tough veteran, Beth never really got on track long enough to test Charisma, and she may regret not having taken this bout more seriously,
