Charlize Theron vs. Gena Lee Nolin (IX) Studio Lightweight Title Bout

Rancorous atmosphere as Charlize stares palookaville right in the face. Nolin in the driver's seat for a change, gets the small ring, the puncher's gloves, AND a pro-Gena L. A. venue to make Charlize' job as difficult as possible. Theron looks to be in great shape, but if the slump continues, it could be a long time before she gets another shot at the coveted Studio strap.

Rd 1: Uncharacteristically tentative opening, with Charlize circling, poking out the jab, while Gena slides outside, cocking her right hand at her chest but not pulling the trigger. Sporadic punching until the final minute, when Charlize looks to throw the one-two but gets caught over the jab by GLN's well timed looping right on the eye. CHARLIZE HURT! Theron staggering as Nolin drops her back foot, gets everything into slinging right hands on the jaw that have Theron glassy eyed at the bell. Theron busted up on the left side, sags in her corner during the break while Nolin is chatty/pumped in hers.

Rd 2: Gets worse for Theron as GLN pours it on. Nolin's taut stomach muscles ripple into view as she whips long lefts and rights, slugging away at shellshocked Theron and forcing Charlize to the ropes. Theron getting tagged hard along the jaw, can only push Nolin off, but Gena eagerly wades on in to beat her foe. In the final minute, with Theron wearing down badly, Nolin lands a clubbing right over Charlize1 left shoulder, banging out the mouthpiece and leaving her helpless in her comer. Nolin reloading, bends her body into a smashing right hand to the eye of Charlize, sweeping the ex-champ to the canvas and leaving her in a dazed heap at the bell. Theron helped up onto her stool as smelling salts are applied - cocky GLN pumps up the crowd, enjoying the moment.

Rd 3: GLN starts strong, but Theron slowly takes the play away with heavy, single counter shots to the stomach. Charlize looking puffy faced and shopworn, but retaining her intensity, works at bending side to side as Nolin punches, countering with straight lefts or rights to the blonde's breasts and sternum to take the round.

R4: Nolin continues to miss, Theron continues to make her pay with patient, thumping body shots. GLN starting to bunch up when hit, not taking it well to the ribs, and Charlize starts to set down on hurling wide rights to the waist, followed by a more compact hook to the chest. GLN shutout, cringing at the bell as she covers up.

Rd 5: Charlize with another shutout, and Nolin starting to complain to the ref. GLN reluctant to pull her arms away from her body, allowing Theron to walk in, work her flanks with batting lefts and rights, and push her back with the shoulder in the chest. Solid beat down as Theron bangs the hips and waist, slowly opening up opportunities for the pay off short right on the chin.

Rd 6: Charlize with another grinding round, and Nolin's composure finally breaks. After getting smeared along the ropes for two minutes - Nolin tackles Charlize to the canvas, and the fight degenerates as Gena Lee goes octopus, leaping in to hold Charlize, lacing the ex-champs sore left eye, and feigning low blows whenever Charlize touches her to the body.

Rd 7: Gena finds she can't clown her way out of trouble, and looks to punch with Theron, but Charlize continues to back her fellow blonde up. Theron hooking hard off the jab, now starting to turn her shoulder into that short right hand on the mouth, bashing back Nolin's face from time to time with clean connects. Gena panicky, lands some firm right hands over Theron's shoulder late, but loses another round as Charlize rolls on.

Rd 8: Gena's best round since the opening stanzas, sees her swat Charlize around in a little semi circle with wide right hands to the ear. Theron taking a breather, allows Gena to get off, and Nolin makes the most of it with looping rights and a seldom used hook to the bikini top of Theron.

Rd 9: All Gena Lee as Theron goes back to standing straight up, covering up, and letting her opponent throw. Second wind for Nolin sees some life back in those long legs, and she bends into cracking right hands that pound through Theron's guard. In the final minute, Gena cracks an elbow to Charlize' lips, stunning the blonde with pain, and wide lefts and rights pour into the breach, battering Theron into a stupor. Ref looking in as if he might stop it - Theron's head jolting back and forth as her legs lock, but the bell sounds to save the day. Gena Lee feverishly punching after the bell, prompts referee intervention as Charlize lolls nonsensically on the ropes.

Rd 10: Charlize peeping through swollen eyes, hands low, grimly walks Nolin down like a punching zombie. Gena rocking Theron coming in with hard right cross off the forehead, but Charlize stumbles through it, lifting her fists up into Nolin's body to cripple the champ. Nolin hanging on, screaming behind her bit as Theron clubs at her bruised ribs. Nolin fades to the ropes, and Charlize commences the beat down, swaying side to side, dragging her fists wide to Nolin's gut and head as Gena holds her fists out front of her battered frame. Midway through the round, harsh pounding rights to the sternum have Nolin trembling and reaching to clinch, and a jolting short right hand smashes into Gena's chin. Nolin's head cranks around, and she is out. Theron unaware, shoulders the limp body back onto the ropes and cracks another brutal right hand into Gena's sleeping face before Nolin's body can spill to the canvas. Shattering KO10 for Theron as she uses up her hated rival, rips the title away in the process.

After: Theron maybe kicking the stuffing out of this rivalry with this grinding effort. Soaking up Gena's best shots, plowing through adversity, Theron regains her title with a frightening display of determination, finally pounding out Nolin to leave her puddled in defeat. Charlize beaten unrecognizable, but still able to hold the belt aloft and crow in triumph as the crowd
