Charlize Theron vs. Victoria Pratt (II) by simguy 10-23-04

Rematch important to Charlize' climb back to respectability - Pratt one of those 'second rate celebrities' belittled by KruZher management who nevertheless have been able to give Theron hell this year. Charlize reportedly sparring an unusually high number of rounds in preparation for this fight, including some spirited sessions with Brittany Daniel and fitness fighters like Amy Fahdli, Deprise, et al (Aristide can give us some names - I'm out of touch).

"I wanted to work against quickness in camp," says Charlize in prefight. "We brought in a lot of fitness types and cheerleaders - Brittany was an excellent mimic of Pratt - I couldn't have asked for a better camp."

Pratt always in shape, but vivacious Vicki starting to struggle as elite girls have clocked her fastball - challenge for her will be to mix things up enough to have a chance to get into Theron's goodies on a consistent basis.

Charlize coming to ring in plain white robe, cream bikini - Pratt gold bikini, curly hair up.

Rd 1: Charlize on her toes, fighting tall, spreading Pratt out the jab as expected. Late the round, Vicki with one of her startling rushes, precipitated by a head-feint - Theron late moving back as a result, catches a lunges right on her chin and spills woozy into the ropes! PRATT UNLEASHED! Vicki moving in like a buzzsaw on lumber, clanging away overhand lefts and rights against the head and shoulders of Theron. Charlize covering up, then clinching head and arm - shaking her head 'no' while trembling legs give away the truth. Vicki explosion steals an otherwise Theron round.

Rd 2: Same again - Charlize working consistently behind her jab, fighting smart midring, but down the stretch, she bites on a feint, gets caught a right hand pulling back and once again has a mauling wolverine fighting off her chest down the stretch. Vicki in close, pressing Theron's Oscar-winning backside into the ropes and digging up into the lungs - furious two-gun punching has Theron red faced, rubbery limbed at the bell. Pratt loving it, forcing eye-contact with Charlize, lifting her mitts and prancing - Theron business-like back to her corner, ignoring the brazeness.

Rd 3: Charlize too veteran to be panicked - she's staying with the jab, she's been landing it all night and she's starting to mark Pratt up with it. Midway through, Theron bogging Vicki down with stick - Pratt launches a rush from too far out, stalls half-way in and gets picked up Theron's sneaky counter right uppercut. Gorgeous chin-check - Pratt wanders away all shabby-knees - Vicki's hurt. Theron approaching behind the jab, punching back Vicki's forehead, poking her in the left ear, putting a tidy right hand behind it - Pratt taking classy shellack as she wobbles to the ropes. Theron fighting at range, putting long leather on Pratt, leaning back to avoid Pratt's clawing counters.

Rd 4: Spirited Pratt rushes in the first minute - Charlize managing the heat with her legs. Theron using the ring, finally brings Pratt to heel - by second minute they're back at midring, Theron picking away systematically. Charlize' settling down flat footed, probing and pestering Pratt with the straight jab, the cuff/clout jab, the rising backhand jab - Vicki pre-occupied with stick and getting hit right hands at an alarming rate. Theron just greasing in the rights, turning over her back foot prettily upon delivery, extending on the punches and sliding back to maintain distance. Pratt lumping up, starting to look discouraged as another tall, experienced fighter seems to have figured her out.

Rd 5: Oh Charlize. Been a long time since we've seen Theron tune up on a girl like this - it's bell to bell butt waxing time for poor Vicki Pratt. Vicki hurt by a clean right cross seconds in, never gets her legs back - it's just a stalking turkey shoot for Theron as she walks Pratt down, jabs her silly, and lays into heartless right hands. Mostly head hunting from Theron as time and again she'll crack Pratt's face to the side with wet, loud contact. Right uppercuts are a favourite, picking Pratt's face up off her gloves, numbing her legs. Not a lot of body work but Charlize occasionally whip-arming a hook in against the ribs, snap-snatching at the body just to keep Vicki guessing. Pratt surviving on sheer conditioning - no other explanation. She's beaten unrecognizable, scattered to all four corners - goes 10-8 without a knockdown as fitness legs just won't give out.

Rd 6: Charlize' hit parade continues. Theron's jab creating the openings, right hands pounding in to capitalize, but she's starting to believe in Pratt's chin this round. Charlize ripping her hook long and lanky to the body after scoring the right hand up top - Theron recognizing this tough nut has to be massaged a little if she's ever going to go. Vicki destitute, getting shelled along the ropes, crossing her arms, covering up weak, leaning forward and posing for shots - she's just numb and tingly all over. Another glorious Charlize Theron shutout - she's relaxed, setting down strong, extending on her punches at range - taking Vicki apart brick by brick.

Rd 7: Crowd groaning, ref keeping a close eye: Theron is giving Pratt the worst beating of her life tonight. Charlize cold-eyed, predatory, using the jab and a palming left hand to stabilize and prop, then drifting in the rights. Right hands routinely pound Pratt's face to the side, loop a little wide to get the ear/jaw, or curl up the middle via the uppercut. Charlize shifting her hips to snap the hook to the body - really going rib-crazy on Pratt in an effort to break Vicki down. Vicki's movements sloooow, eyes all puffy, face a busted wreck - she's on autopilot, taking punches just because she can at this point. Goes another shutout Charlize - at the bell she's imploring the ref to stop it - Vicki mumbling a protest like she's Rocky Balboa.

Rd 8: Charlize pounds out her fourth straight shutout - sickening stuff for all but the most hardcore Theron lovers. Pratt seated in the ropes for the most part, stooped forward, hands up palms out - easy defence to parcel punches through as Charlize picks and chooses. Theron well outside, arm action nice n' breezy as she pounds away one-twos, keeps the jab on Pratt, cuffs and swats her ears on occasion. More body work and better from Charlize - she's leaning over to the left to get every ounce of long-body leverage on her shots, really licking 'em in behind Pratt's elbow. Poor Vicki - mute with punishment, just standing there - it's ugly to watch.

Rd 9: Good lord, Pratt's punching back! Not a lot, not enough to win the round - but she gets Charlize' chin with a short right hand and actually comes forward with body shots in the second minute. Theron using her legs, wheels around the ring and pings away long lefts and rights from outside - bigger blonde a little arm weary after busting howitzers on PRatt all night long.

Rd 10: Pratt catching a second wind, tossing out a little flicking Shane Mosley jab to the chest, then leaning in with zinging overhand rights - she's catching Theron moving backward. Theron flustered, hands at waist height - she's trying to lean out of range, but she's getting caught, punched off balance - Pratt's piling up points. Midway through, Theron leans away from a tearing Pratt right - Vicki steps with, leaps into a sweeping hook and DOWN GOES CHARLIZE! Theron rigid on her backside, hands in her lap - legs stiff, slightly in the air as her heels come off the canvas - SHE’S STUPIFIED! Charlize just sitting there numb - count passing her by - FINALLY she's up at nine swaying as the ref takes a close look. ON COMES VICKI! Right hand blast catches Charlize on the eye, draping her back into the ropes but CHARLIZE SLUGS BACK! Theron digging in, eyes vacant, mouth open, but lifting punches into Vicki! Charlize slugging from the hips, hands low-slung, hoisting up and licking at Pratt - Vicki crisper, hands up, looking to dart in and put something short on Charlize chin! Hammer and tongs to the bell - Pratt turning Charlize' head and buckling her legs just as the ref jumps in. Comes back UD10 wide, Charlize Theron.

After: First fight, Vicki played Paquiao to Theron's Marquez - this one really more Mosley with Charlize playing the part of Forrest. Late rally not enough - Vicki takes a bad beating en route to a thrilling finish. Charlize dodging a bullet big time - in total control of this girl, exacting throbbing retribution for Pratt's previous victory, but nearly succumbing to the fitness chick's late power.

"She caught me," shrugs Theron in postfight, "but look at her. I'd rather be me tonight. Oh who am I kidding? I'd rather be me EVERY night!" Vicki beaten to a pulp - Charlize actually draws some criticism from BLONDE! magazine for her cruelty in this fight.

"Vicki's too important to be ruined," notes the contributor. "Charlize needs to save a beating like that for the brunettes who deserve it."
