Before: Theron enters this fight following the worst beating of her career, and experts wonder how she left behind her in the ring with Janet Jones Gretzky. Zeta Jones meanwhile has been on cruise control, fed a steady diet of big name, but lighter weight girls and she is anxious to step up and test Theron while she’s shaky.

Sponsored by Jockey, both girls sport cotton two piece underwear looks, red for the “Welsh Wallop” Zeta-Jones, black for the “Often Walloped” Theron. Ankle socks for both women.

During R1: Zeta-Jones comes out with a Sumya Anani look, bending at the waist, gloves high, while Charlize pivots and tries to cut off the ring. For all Zeta-Jones’ movement, she isn’t all that elusive, and Theron snaps off some sharp single jabs that smack hard to the face of Catherine early. An exchange of right hands midway through goes Charlize’ way as she blocks Zeta-Jones punch and lands a short, straight haymaker to the breast bone. The brunette instantly cringes away, clutching at her torso, and runs the rest of the round.

R2: Again, Charlize patiently stalks her prey, landing a jab that seems to surprise Zeta when it connects so easily, and Jones soon finds herself in a corner. Theron shows great composure, not rushing in, poking some jabs in, pounding to the chest with short right hands, then scoring with a booming left hook/right cross. Zeta-Jones’ eyes roll up and she pours onto the canvas, sprawling picturesque at Theron’s feet.

After: Just when you count her out, Theron turns in a dominating performance that reminds you of why she’s one of the best in the game. Zeta-Jones just never got on track, and had real problems with Theron’s reach and power. Instead of closing the gap with her rival, Zeta-Jones looks like she’s actually lost ground.
