Before: Fishel pleased to have a serious contender worthy of her attention finally step up to the plate--could be a tough test as Langton’s wheels, skills are top notch, Pressure on Brooke to make the most of the opportunity--she’s not a great risk-reward  for champions and doesn’t get a lot of title consideration as a result. A loss to Dani means Langton will have to go back beat up a lot of people again to get another look. Dani in teal sports bra, grey stretch cotton boy cut trunks--Brooke in black sports bra, red high waist aerobics bottoms.

During R1: Brooke with her effortless style on show, controls the action early with gliding feet, sharp punching. Dani coming forward with crossed arms, bobbing head movement--Brooke giving ground, picking Dani up with flicking jabs to the forehead and brisk right hands off the front foot. At the ropes, Langton sidesteps prettily--using both hands to push one or the other of Dani’s shoulders to make her escape. Occasionally, Brooke drops her right hand to bat the left hook--Dani reads it and makes her move late in the round. Fishel hooks with Brooke, catching Langton flush and startling the brunette on her heels. Dani steps forward with a grazing right on the chin--Langton wide-eyed as she juuut leans out of range, but follow-up Bridget Riley hook on the chops has 100% Dani behind it. Langton sprawling dazed into the ropes, covers up weak as Fishel hops forward to issue a steady torrent or ribwork to the bell, Dani grinning, hair wild in her face--Langton shaky and hurting as Fishel steals the stanza.

R2: Dani coming forward with that Frazier-esque bob and weave, getting into range to put a stubby jab into Brooke’s chest, hen slamming the right hand to the ribs to get all the way inside. Langton with her butt on the ropes, hunkered down, under siege--she’s shoulder to shoulder with Dani and Fishel’s loving it. Langton trading savagely to hold her own, but she’s not strong enough to shoulder Dani off her, and Fishel shaking of Langton’s biting combinations with total indifference. Brooke can’t say the same--Dani’s chugging two-handed assault bashes relentlessly away to the sides and midriff of the challenger and by the final minute--Langton is wilting badly, covering up and taking. Sensational series of hooks to the right side send a tremor through Brooke’s legs at the bell--Fishel squeals and hops way in delight--Langton ashen-faced--hugging her ruined body after sustained rippage from Dani.

R3: Brooke hollow-eyed, doesn’t have her legs under her--Dani able to walk her down, fight off the brunette’s chest and body her into the ropes once again. it’s all Dani--Langton fighting for her life, but can’t get any leverage sitting on the ropes--Fishel staying on her girl’s chest, arms pumping and lashing away downstairs, Occasionally, Dani will press up on Brooke, then dip to rip the left uppercut into the chin, but it’s basically systematic body work from the champion through 3.

R4: Brooke finally shows a little lateral movement, sidestepping, using her hands  on Dani to push off, but Fishel won’t be discouraged, Eventually, Dani gets her head on Brooke’s chest--starts pounding away t the arms, hips and belly and Langton sinks gurgling into the ropes into the ropes to soak up more abuse. Fishel can’t wipe the smile off her face--she’s got leverage on her girl, she’s got weight projecting into Brooke, she’s got her head under Brooke’s chin--it’s the perfect Dani Fishel fight.

R5: Dani banks the fifth straight round as Langton again tries to coax life into her trembling legs, but can’t stay away. Dani back inside, bullying and muscling Brooke at the ropes--rubbing her head hard underneath Langton’s chin, pushing Langton’s arms out of the way and scrubbing, drubbing, chugging to the body, Brooke choking back tears at the bell--she never envisioned being treated this way by the stocky champ.

R6: Langton finally gets it together as Dani takes a round off. Brooke pivots to her left--tapping and touching Dani with the jab, skidding the lead right off Fishel’s forehead, and occasionally sweeping an artful hook as she slides to her left, turning Fishel midring. Dani unable to get position this round, gives her head shake at the bell.

R7: Dani reading Brooke’s hook--Langton dropping her right mitt consistently as she slides to her left while batting the hook at Fishel’s ear--Dani interrupts the flow with a poking straight right, then CLOBBERS Langton’s chin flush with a crashing hook out of the crouch--BROOKE GOES DOWN! Langton scooting to a stop on her backside, gets painfully to her feet and doesn’t look right as Dani hops up and down in the neutral corner. After 8, it’s rampaging Dani Fishel assault--Langton bullied into the ropes--Dani pushing and palming at her girl, reefing to the body and head with hooks, punching straight right hands in underneath Brooke’s heart--Langton getting rag dolled as the beating goes on and on and on. At the bell--Dani can’t restrained a howl of triumph as she leaves Brooke smoldering in a heap in the ropes.

R8: Langton looking seasick, gets heavily off her stool and doesn’t look her usual sharp self. Dani on like a freight train, winging hooks now as Brooke clatters around the ring, head over heels in retreat, Fishel hounds her girl to a corner and begins to pound away--using her right hand to push and palm with, setting her hips for heartbreaking left hooks and uppercuts as Langton starts to soak up unacceptable punishment. Bashing lefts up underneath the ribs dislodge Brooke’s mouthpiece from sleepy lips--brunette stares in glassy-eyed as the champion piles on. Dani just standing Langton up and working her over with the left hand and THE REF STEPS IN! It’s over--a trembling Brooke Langton lolling helplessly in the ref’s arms as Dani jumps around the ring in celebration--TKO8 Dani Fishel.

After: Pundits wondering if Dan Fishel’s ever been so consistently good as she has been during the current title run. “the beat down of Neve Campbell was so complete,” says one respected scribe, “you almost expected a let down against Langton, especially as Brooke the quintessential heady brunette boxer. But Dani just clamped down--I mean, Brooke couldn’t even breathe in this fight. Based on recent accomplishments, I think you have t pout Dani back in the pound for pound rankings somewhere.” Fishel showing championship class in comforting a distraught Langton in post fight--Brooke leaves empty handed, and despite some good wins, has to look at losses to Pressly, Brittany Daniel and Fishel as signs that maybe more work needs to be done to really crack that top tier.
