Amy Brenneman vs. Lisa Guerrero

Another surprising cougar bout for Covid 19 relief is on the card for tonight. The boxers are surprising choices as Amy Brenneman and Lisa Guerrero will be boxing.

Brenneman has been in an FCBA bout for close to twenty years and Lisa is making her FCBA debut. Although both spoke of boxing in the preceding years for parties, events, on sets, and for the occasional prize.

The referee is another surprising choice as Lisa Whelchel walks to the ring. She is wearing black short shorts and a black blazer which she takes off inside the ropes to show a referee’s shirt which is cut into a tank top like shirt.

Amy Brenneman came to the ring first and wore royal blue short trunks and a similar color top with red gloves.

Lisa Guerrero wore golden short trunks and a gold top with black gloves.

Round 1 & 2:

The two cougar split the first two round widely, Amy won the first and Lisa the second. The two rounds were full of good two way action. In the first Amy got inside and under Lisa's arms and slugged. She did walk Guerrero backwards in the round with her punches. Amy showed some surprising legwork as well. Lisa did get away late in the round and got in some quick punches. But Amy won it widely. In the second, Lisa makes sure she is first with her punches. She is stepping into Amy behind her long jabs. Lisa is soon hitting Amy’s face hard. Brenneman has to back off as she has Guerrero coming at her. Lisa soon back in Amy’s face with her gloves. At the bell, Lisa returned to her corner having won the round widely.

Round 3:

The next round was a very close one. Amy was able to not allow Lisa to get inside on her as much as in the previous round thanks to her footwork. Guerrero had to adjust and used her long jabs more in this round as there was a lot of movement and jabbing. In the last minute, some surprisingly heavy handed slugging started. Amy seemed to be on the better end of it until close to the bell Lisa shot inside on a Brenneman’s jab which caught her by surprise. She was wobbly but the bell rang ending the round. Lisa won a close round.

Round 4:

Amy got a talking to before the bell for the 4th round rang. She definitely put it into practice as she came out slugging. Lisa had to defend fast as this was a surprise. Again two way action was soon happening and the fans loved it. For two cougars past a certain age they were not expecting to be boxing this well according to some in the FCBA press. Amy seemed to be taking the better of it before there was some circling by the cougars. Lisa tried to answer back with some jabs but it was too late as Amy won the round widely.

Round 5:

The next round opened with Lisa getting her jabs out in front of her into Amy’s face. She soon has the timing and spacing as Brenneman’s face is getting spanked. Soon Guerrero’s punches are flowing to Brenneman and she has her gloves full on the defense. She looks uncertain as Lisa re-finds her jaw with an inside jab. Amy is wobbly after that shot. Lisa times it and a right uppercut clips Amy’s chin. Guerrero throws a left cross and right cross combination to the sides of Brenneman’s face. AMY GOES DOWN! Guerrero walks to a neutral corner as Whelchel goes over to begin the count. Amy is woozy as she is at her elbows by 9 by Whelchel. But 10 is made and she can only sit and slap the canvas as she is counted out. KO 5 – Lisa Guerrero.

After:

Guerrero comes out of the corner and walks to center of the ring. She smiles as she strolls. Soon Whelchel is lifting her right golden gloved hand up and declaring her the winner.

Lisa beamed as she was soon posing for the cameras as a winner in the FCBA.

Amy watched from her corner before going to her locker room.

Both boxers said after the bout that they were definitely looking forward to boxing more.
