Results: Lookout!; Story: Caspian & The Dollhouse

BEFORE:
“It’s been four losses in a row for me now…bummer.” Lauren says, shaking her head from the press table. The Scottish singer has had a bigger push than some of her fellow comrades on the Dollhouse roster, but even she’s at the stage of being disappointed with the current state of her career.

“If it’s any consolation, I hear my opponent tonight isn’t doing much better…” Mayberry continues. “Emma’s such an amazing actress, but she hasn’t won a fight since 2016. So I do like my chances tonight, despite the huge size advantage she has on me.”

Emma Stone is seen smiling cordially from the other side of the room, both these girls wallowing in each other’s misery and mutually acknowledging the slump they’re currently in.

“Well, on the bright side, Lauren, it means ONE of us will be breaking our streak tonight, eh?” Emma grins, taking consolation in the fact but conveniently ignoring the hard truth. “Look, I’ve been fighting a whole lot longer than Lauren has. One thing has always been a constant: losing is only temporarily. Sooner or later, we all catch a break, as long as we don’t give up. She’s very small…I think I might be the one celebrating at the end of the night based on that alone - no offense, Lauren.”

Girls remain respectful when they shake hands at the podium, Emma’s 5’6 height advantage to Mayberry’s petite 5’0 is intensely glaring at first sight, but will make for an interesting showdown later when they bring their experience and skills to bear.

Fight night rolls around and Mayberry is first to enter the arena. The Doll hasn’t had the best 2020 thus far, having lost all her fights, and counting. But kudos to her for keeping at it, Lauren chugging along like the little engine that could – and she should - her 2019 results showed promise with the petite singer going on an impressive 6 wins streak. She brandishes a smile in a light pink sports bra and short black tights, holding up a pair of similar-themed gloves to the crowds. Stone also strides onto stage wearing a smile, red bikini top and white tights with matching red gloves - showing off her slim figure as the actress waves to her many fans who’ve followed her over from Hollywood. She takes her time to get to the ring, stopping by the ramp to sign autographs in true Hollywood-actress fashion.

Back in the ring, ladies meet in the center, loosening their limbs and listening to the referee spout his rules. There’s still barely any tension in the air as both fighters bang their gloves together before heading to corners. Referee with a wave of the hand and HERE we go with ten rounds of Flyweight action!

ROUND 1:
Lauren’s one-head height disadvantage proves problematic early on, Emma using that reach to jab at the smaller Doll’s head with ease. Not sure what Lauren’s management was thinking by cooking up this fight on the schedule, as Mayberry constantly tries to come inwards with jabs of her own but gets parried or scared off by Stone’s easier return fire. If anything, however, Emma should be dominating this exchange, her six inches on Mayberry meaning she should have no trouble slamming those long-form punches clean into Lauren’s face before the Scottish singer can close distance. But it’s a testimony to Mayberry’s resolve as the smaller girl keeps wading in before loosing flurries at Stone’s direction, the redhead having trouble deflecting all of them at once, such that the round ends up as a much closer affair than initially predicted.

ROUND 2:
Round remains close with Lauren staying out of range and Stone now more securely using her reach to dictate terms early. Problem is Mayberry herself is nowhere to be seen, staying nimble and ducking and leaping this way and that, as she keeps Emma at bay with her own jabs poking high and low. The timeframe to use that long-jab has long passed, however, and Stone pays for it with plenty of return shots sent packing into her body even as she tags the Doll back on her face. This match-up is cutting it close indeed as Mayberry edges out a close victory by the end of three minutes, hammering a late-minute blitz to Stone’s body to steal the round.

ROUND 3:
Stone keeps her distance as well, adjusting tactics now that both girls have gotten a taste of what the other can do. First minute’s spent pawing at each other from afar, of course, Mayberry staying further away than normal to negate the disadvantage she’s facing. Stone’s slow advance pays off bit by bit, keeping herself centered whilst jabbing that right hand whenever Mayberry gets in range, those targeted punches troubling Lauren bad as she can’t quite close the distance nor can she escape fully without getting rocked on the arms or grazed on the chin. Emma doesn’t do much else this round but it’s more than enough to secure the round by its end, with Stone leaving her opponent with a final kiss of a right hand to the forehead to seal it wide.

ROUND 4:
Lauren’s suddenly in trouble, but we’ve known this before whenever the rounds wound by: the Doll’s agility and energy get zapped after every three-minute turn, allowing her opponents to better grab a hold of her. Stone lands a power shot in the first minute to the arms, which rattles the Scottish singer with a grunt. Before Mayberry can recover, another hook catches her on the side of her head, which sends her reeling!! Stone for once showing off some excellent agility of her own as she leaps in for the follow-up blow without any hesitation, sending Lauren stumbling a couple of steps before collapsing onto her side on the canvas! Unmistakable: it’s a first KNOCKDOWN for Emma Stone!

Emma finally allows herself a small grin, watching the Doll rise back up to shaky feet by the count of 8. It’s not the end, however, as Mayberry’s rattled, shaken but not down. A minute left on the clock as Stone vows to finish her off before the end, and the referee waves to resume! HERE COMES EMMA, as if on cue! Lauren hides behind her gloves and arms, wincing and weaving and grunting as she does everything in her power to stop from being trapped against the ropes with a rabid animal in front of her. Stone pulling out the stops, keeps swinging and swinging, thinking it’s the end, DOESN’T see the incoming SLAAP to her face till it hits her right on the nose!! Not sure if Lauren had aimed that punch through and true, but it seems to have done the trick, stopping Stone in her tracks and giving the Doll a little breathing room! Stone on the other hand is wobbling dangerously - that right cross must have hit her hard - Lauren comes in half heartedly and repeats the move - BLAM!! - finds herself standing over Stone in the closing seconds of the round! Holy moley - it’s another KNOCKDOWN scored within the span of a minute, with Emma Stone just melting to canvas after that sustained punishment to her head! Perhaps no one could have expected this outcome, as Lauren herself stumbles back to her corner after the referee comes in and ushers her away. Emma stays on her back for a good half of the count, though she rapidly wills herself off the canvas, onto her knees, then back to her feet with the help of the ropes by the count of 9. Good lord what an action-packed round that was!

ROUND 5:
The fight’s anybody’s game at this point as the two ladies circle each other at the bell, each nervous of what the other is capable of doing. Emma sliding into the fight initially more than a little confident of the outcome, now hiding her face behind a closed guard as she blocks and weaves more often than firing punches, a little comical that the taller woman is so much more afraid of the smaller pitbull that is Mayberry. Lauren’s feat in the closing seconds of the last round finally sunk in, and the little spitfire is moving forward confidently, throwing jab combos towards Stone’s arms and body, on track to secure herself another impressive win of a round if she keeps up the pressure. Stone by contrast is wilting by the second, another one-two fists sunk into her tummy, momentarily stunning her to the spot, gasping for air. Lauren keeps up the attack, fires another combo smack to her face, bunching up the redhead’s cheeks before SLAMMING a cross-hand right through the jawline! That seems to have done it! Emma groans, staggering backwards before collapsing on her butt. She turns over onto all fours but makes no effort to get back up, crawling groggily to the ropes and staying there till the referee hits the count of 10!! That’s it!! He signals for the bell!!

Official Decision: Lauren Mayberry defeats Emma Stone via KO5!

AFTER:
First win of the year for Lauren and it’s a big victory indeed - the Doll raises a tired hand to the arena, choking back tears as she allows herself to get swept up by the cheering crowds as well as members of her own team, who quickly rush into the ring to hoist the tiny fighter up onto their shoulders.

Yes, it’s that big of a deal, folks, as Mayberry’s hard work and diligence has finally paid off with a dominant victory tonight. Later, she congratulates Stone for putting on a show, exchanging hugs with the taller actress and promising her that she too will break her losing streak at some point in the future.
