Before: “It was good of Rachel to include me in her Farewell Tour,” says Claire Holt at the pre-fight press event. “After all, I did beat her in 2015 and I thought I might never get to fight her again. Fortunately, she just couldn’t give up trying to beat me. Really, Rachel, you couldn’t beat at 37. Surely you don’t think you can do it at 40?”

“Same old Claire,” Rachel retorts. “I seem to recall you making a big deal of my being 37. Is that the only kind of trash talk you know how to do?”

Claire shrugs: “It worked in 2015. Why change it now?”

“You are too amusing, Claire,” Rachel says sarcastically. “And, by the way, this is not a Retirement Tour.”

“Not officially, anyway,” Claire snickers. “I plan to make sure your body takes another beating so that the rocker at the FCBA Retirement Home will start to look good to see.”

“I my retire,” Rachel says, “but there will be no rocker or retirement home.”

“I am sure Foxfire can find a place for you as a locker room towel girl,” Claire helpfully suggested.

“You are not funny, Claire,” Rachel snaps.

“I do the best I can with the material I am handed,” Claire replies airly.

“Well, I am going to be handing you one good defeat and I hope you don’t like it,” Rachel snapped.

“Temper, temper,” Claire says. “I do believe old age is making you cranky.”

“And turning 30 has not made you any smarter than you ever were,” Rachel retorts.

“Definitely cranky,: Claire pronounced. “Well, do take care, Rachel, I want you all fit and chipper when I knock the snot out of you.”

“I just want to knock the snot out of you!” Rachel said with some heat.

The two are still filled with ill-will on the night of the fight. Claire has chosen to fight in black satin bra and panties with the O & E logo stitched in gold across the seat and a smaller logo on the left bra cut. She wears black gloves and boots with gold laces. Her blonde hair is in a ponytail. In addition to the O & E corner crew, Claire is accompanied by Head Trainer Kelly Carlson and stablemate Olivia Holt.

Rachel and Claire have a tense ring instructions as they try to jostle and hip bump each other. Referee has his hands full keeping order, but finally does get the preliminaries done. The glove tap is so half-hearted the gloves don’t even touch. Then the two head for their corners and await the bell, It rings.

They both spin away, but quickly come back and each other and trade more head shots. Now both of them are looking woozy, but they quickly locate each other and go at it again. However this time they are back at the body punching. They are leaning forward, their arms and elbows working like pistons to bring leather smacking against wet bodies. They are so close that their sweaty foreheads are nearly touching as they look each other in the eyes and punch. Neither fighter willing to give ground and they pound away down to the bell. They step away without a word and head for their corners.

R5: Rachel and Claire circling each other firing away as they go. It is back and forth, back and forth. Then Rachel moves in and goes to the stomach with a rapid-fire series of hooks that drive Claire up on her toes. Claire falls back and tries to make a stand behind her jab. Rachel does win the round by a wide margin.

R6: Claire waiting for Rachel to come at her and then strikes with a left/right combo to the jaw, Rachel shudders and her legs turn to rubber as she lurches back. Claire leaps after her to get in some more good shots to the head until Rachel covers up. Claire then goes to the body and uses a series of hooks to the belly to send Rachel lurching back into the ropes. Claire then tries to pummel the trapped Rachel, Rachel fighting back instead of covering up and it’s a tough battle until Claire lands an uppercut to the chin. Rachel now has to cover up as she takes a seat on the ropes. Claire pounds away to the bell. Rachel slow peeling herself off the ropes and trudging back to her corner. Claire with a slight smile as she walks back to corner. She knows she;s won this round wide.

R7: Rachel tries to come back in the new round. She goes for Claire at the bell and tries to ring her up with a flurry of head shots. Claire ducking or blunting most of these and then swings back with a right to the jaw that knocks Rachel back several steps, Claire follows up with more punching aimed at Rachel’s head. Rachel banged hard, but manages to scramble away, trying to regroup. Claire then comes roaring in with a flurry of belly shots that send Rachel falling back into the ropes, Rachel struggling steady herself leaves her chin unguarded and Claire’s rips in an uppercut that lifts Rachel straight up. Rachel comes down against the ropes and then topples over onto her side. She ends up with her cheek resting against the canvas as she breathes peacefully. Claire goes to neutral corner. Referee moves in. Rachel starts to awaken. She tries to push herself up with her arms, but she can do no better than get to her knees.

“NINE!”….”TEN!”…YER OUT!”

THE WINNER: CLAIRE HOLT DEFEATS RACHEL MCADAMS KO7.

After: Claire Holt smiling happily as she mounts the nearest turnbuckle to salute her fans. Then she jumps down to accept a hug from Olivia Holt. Then Kelly Carlson helps Claire out of her gloves and Claire goes to where Virginia Madsen and Laura Vandervoort have helped a drowsy Rachel McAdams to her feet.

“Sorry, Rachel, but I told you I would win,” Claire said.

“And I am sorry I couldn’t beat you this time either,” Rachel says somehow managing a smile.

“You rest up. I rather enjoyed the contest. Have a productive retirement and all that,” Claire said.

“I’ll save you rocking chair,” Rachel said.

“You are too kind,” Claire said and gave Rachel a little hug before departing. Then Laura and Virginia assisted Rachel to the Foxfire corner for a checkup.

Very lively contest that was close almost to the end. Claire Holt able to pull out the win in R7. R6 seems to have been the turning point as it weakened Rachel McAdams sufficiently for Claire to finish in the next round. Tough loss for Rachel McAdams, but one can understand her wanting to balance accounts by winning a rematch with Claire. Where she goes next on her final series of fights is not known, but expected to be interesting. Meanwhile Claire can hope to build on this win in her next fight.
