Before: Landry/Tyler all but signed when Jewel queered the deal with a sumptuous stoppage of the meteoric Liv. Both girls have been down this path before, but Jewel’s combination punching much improved since their last hook up—blonde may have some surprises I store whereas brunette hasn’t changed much since assuming the regal garb of Welter champ. Ali in gold bikini, Jewel in teal tankini, tight ponytail.

During R1: Ali force feeding Jewel jabs, and early on, blonde walks into a tough bright uppercut as Landry arches her back in the short, triumphant punch. Kilcher wobbled in the opening moments, takes a minute to clear her head while Ali continues to pound away from outside with the straight one-twos, Jewel regaining her composure late, bobs her way into Landry’s chest and swats gut at the bell to avoid the shutout, but Landry pulls way at the bell all smiles.

R2: Ali diving in on Jewel, playing punch and clutch, trying to stuff right mitt into Kilcher’s chest then wrap up with the left around Jewel’s neck, Trouble is, Jewel also seeking heart punches, plunging her right fist in under Ali’s clinching left to the exposed ribcage. Kilcher clinching low, Ali clinching low—ref working hard to break’em up after meaty collisions, Midway through, Landry’s knees buckle as Jewel finds the sweet spot—blonde putting her body into a short right hand to the heart that will DEFINITELY leave a mark. Ali swooning, hanging on for dear life as Kilcher goes to work—Jewel finally putting punches together, spank-spank to the waist, then CRACK up top with the hook as Landry wobbles hurt to the ropes.

R3: Ali smartens up—no more trading heart punches, but she’s still punching and clutching to maintain the fight’s awkward stop and go rhythm. Landry’s jab decisive—she’s stopping Jewel with it, then landing the right hand, then clinching—blonde really only getting off with single shots as the bigger woman walks her to the ropes for breaks.

R4: Halting, hit and hold continues—Kilcher guilty of cooperating with Ali as jewel gets lulled into the one-shot pace. Long stretches of the girls leaning on one another tends favour Landry—she’s bulling Jewel around, giving the impression of being the aggressor when really it’s pretty even. Ali landing some tough right uppercuts late to separate herself on the cards—Kilcher wandering into punches that she hasn’t been hit with recently.

R5: Shutout Ali Landry. Champ’s got Jewel frustrated, fighting the wrong fight. Ali very athletic outside, striding to her right, then jumping in with a right hand and holding for a break—Jewel easily taking the blows, but simply not busy enough herself. Landry getting cocky at the bell, lounging in her foe, smiling to the crowd as the ref pushes’em apart.

R6: Ali putting it together now—she’s got Jewel thinking in terms of one-shot. Landry stepping outside to work her telephone pole jab, circling then jumping in with right hands and clinching to smother the receipts—it’s flawless execution. Down the stretch, Jewel gambles to force the action and is NAILED again by Landry’s shirt right uppercut—Kilcher nearly taking a knee as Ali steps out, waits for Kilcher to stumble forward, and crunches home a driving right hand on the jaw that draw groans from ringsiders. Big shutout Ali Landry sends Jewel to her corner wobbly butt and wandering.

R7: Breezy shutout Ali Landry. She’s boxing this round, keeping her distance—Jewel’s been hurt, abused and bamboozled thus far and doesn’t know what to expect next. Ali patient, drilling Jewel’s face with the heavy stick as Kilcher doesn’t want anymore of that right uppercut and won’t come in this round as a result.

R8: Corner give Jewel a wake up slap—Kilcher responds with better head movement and a commitment to getting back inside, Pattern evolves—Ali working her one two, picking Jewel up on the way in—Kilcher getting to the chest and scoring to the belly until Landry cradles her up. Ali swamping Jewel with rough headlocks and twisting the blonde off balance—Kilcher can’t find any consistency in this kind of action..

R9: Ali OWNS Jewel outside this round, pulping the blonde with the hard jab—Kilcher bending to her right to get away from the punch, but Landry keeps it on. Final minute—Jewel shoots a hard straight right to the chest, following up with cudgeling left across Ali’s proud breasts—champ doesn’t like the jug mugging as she backs up awkwardly at the end.

R10: Ali beating in Jewel’s face with that pageant jab—Kilcher bleeding from the nostrils as she rolls her upper body to no avail, Landry dropping the short right hand then clinching, taunting Jewel in close as the blonde struggles for punching room. Final seconds see Kilcher pull her left across Ali’s golden belly, swipe a right across Landry’s lips to turn the champion’s head, but it’s too little too late. Comes back a wide UD10 for the winner and STILL champion, Ali Landry.

After: Disappointing safety-first effort fro Landry, but a smart defence nonetheless—she’ll entertain against the next girl, not Jewel, Kilcher persuaded to load up on single shots by Landry’s constant clinching, champion cleverly taking Jewel out of her game with a heady fight plan keyed by maybe the best jab in the business.
