Pre-fight:

“Pretty easy to see why I took this fight,” says Anna. “I’m a free agent! I don’t have much choice. I have to take whatever comes my way. I’ll be honest it was a little short notice, but my last fight was 2 months ago so I’m all rested up and ready to go.”

“While Anna was, what did she say? ‘Resting’ or whatever,” says Kristen. “I was fighting… and I’ve won 2 in a row. That’s a concept Anna hasn’t been aware of since 2017 I think. 3 years without consecutive wins… yikes.”

R1: These girls are two prime candidates to be cut from the swath of the FCBA, so when they come out of their corners they come out fighting like their lives depend on it.

It’s instant fireworks as Anna lands an opening right hook. Kristen is stunned early but recovers by keeping her guard up. She tries to jab Anna away, but the younger girl keeps coming at her. There’s very little finesse in this opening round. Kristen gets a few nice lefts through Anna’s defense, but Anna keeps coming in hot.

A really clean jab-straight combo hits Kristen on the cheek and she’s looking worse for wear as the bell rings.

10-9 Kendrick.

R2: Anna comes out aggressive again, but this time her hook misses and Kristen follows up with a squared up gut punch. Anna doubles over the blonde woman’s glove and Kristen hits her hard with a left.

Anna backs off. Kristen moves forward, but is stuffed with a face-full of leather. Kristen swings wildly, missing most of her throws but landing a small smattering of them.

Is this a boxing match or a brawl?

Neither girl looks particularly impressive through the first two rounds, but they’re each desperate and it shows! Kristen takes that round almost by default.

19-19.

R3: A much better start for Bell as she finally finds her jab. She keeps Anna off balance with it, taking control of the pace of the fight.

She’s also utilizing some mobility, which is a nice change of pace for the 40-year-old.

Weaving and ducking… she’s not fast enough to avoid Kendrick completely, but enough to get in close and do some damage to Anna’s abdomen. The Free Agent is huffing and puffing as Kristen bullies her back into the ropes.

Anna is able to slip off, but not before eating some more blows to the body. She comes back in, trying to save the round and gets greeted with an excellently placed left cross that cements a nice round for Bell.

29-28 Bell.

R4: Kristen is feeling confident and she’s once again the aggressor early in the round.

She looks pretty good, bobbing and weaving. A bit like the Kristen of old.

However, after the first minute Anna puts an end to all of that. All it takes is one uppercut to knock Kristen off balance and change all of the momentum of the fight. Anna comes barreling forward as she slams right after right into Kristen’s temple.

The tiny blonde tightens her guard, but Anna looks like she’s hell-bent on breaking through those arms. While Anna doesn’t do much damage for the rest of the round, the sheer aggression she shows allows her to take the round with ease.

38-38.

R5: Anna’s uppercut has caused Kristen to get skittish.

She’s not committing to anything and trying to dance around her opponent. It doesn’t go well. Her legs betray her as her dancing becomes much more sluggish. Anna catches her with a few jabs and Kristen’s head begins to wobble.

Anna comes up big with another nifty uppercut and then a left hook that plants Kristen down on the mat.

She crawls over to the ropes but her hands simply glide off of the bottom rope as her arms drop down flat on the canvas.

It’s a 10 count that leaves nothing in doubt.

Winner: Anna Kendrick via KO Round 5

Post-fight:

“That sure was a short win streak she had,” says Anna. “Old girl just didn’t have much left in the tank. Shame, she used to be a decent fighter…”

“That little…” says Kristen. “Why just- when I get- she’s gonna- UGHHH!!!”
