Mila Kunis

(37 / 5’4” / 26:34 FCBA / Hawkeye)

Story: The Comediennes / Results: Lookout!

Pre-fight:

“Well she’s a former champ so… that’s something,” says Rashida. “Honestly I’m a little miffed at being Hawkeye’s ‘second choice’ for the fight. Apparently they’d rather have Elyse in the ring with Mila. Well after tonight they’re going to wish anyone but me was in the ring with Mila. And make no mistake, this isn’t about her in particular. It’s about being looked at as ‘second banana’ by another stable.”

“It’s been rough for a while but come on,” says Mila. “She’s 7 years older than me and only has 3 fights under her belt. At least that other girl they have, who is it Wilson or something? Willems? Yeah her. She’s got some pop to her. But Rashida, no offense babe but you’re a lame duck.”

R1: Mila and Rashida come out swinging to start the fight. Fireworks fly early as the two trade some jabs back and forth, but Rashida’s defense holds up just a bit better. The Comedienne does a nice job sticking and moving against her more experience opponent. Mila isn’t one to be deterred, though.

She dodges a few jabs from Rashida, turns her hips, and fires off a bullet into her opponent’s abdomen. Rashida’s guar is forced down and Mila pops off three straight jabs. She’s coming in hot now, crowding Rashida and not giving her any room to breathe.

All of a sudden Rashida rears back and lands a huge left hand on Mila! The Hawkeye girl is stumbling back and Rashida goes after her. The bell rings before the two can trade any more fists, though. Rashida takes that round close.

10-9 Jones.

R2: Mila clearly unhappy with how that round went and decides to keep her distance. Rashida is the slower of the two, so she can’t quite keep up with Mila’s bobbing and weaving.

Mila isn’t landing anything big, but she’s doing enough to really frustrate Rashida. Jabs fly and sneak past the older woman’s guard. Rashida’s nose is getting banged up pretty good and she has to bring her gloves up higher. That’s when Mila sneaks an uppercut right between the wrists and nails Rashida square on the chin!

The Comedienne is in trouble, she’s against the ropes. Mila throwing combos trying to take her opponent off of her feet, but Rashida recovers nicely and tightens up that guard. Nothing getting through now and Mila hangs there a bit too long. She receives a few jabs and a right cross from Rashida and has to back off.

The bell rings with Rashida doing just enough to avoid a complete disaster, but Mila takes the round wide.

19-19.

R3: Mila is staying well away from that right hand. Rashida revs it up to try and toss it a few times, but can’t find a window.

Mila does a nice job of controlling the pace of this round. She doesn’t do anything fancy, no need to. Some more dancing, a few jabs here and there. She knows she’ll land more punches than Rashida, that’s just plain to see for anyone watching. Mila keeps her distance and darts in to get some grazing blows when she can. Rashida is clearly frustrated.

She throws a few wild haymakers that Mila skillfully dodges before squaring up some more quick jabs. Rashida’s nose is looking rough now.

The Hawkeye girl does make one mistake though near the end of the round. She thinks she sees Rashida slip and goes in to try to put her down, but is mistaken. Rashida is fine and as Mila comes in she gets a nice, strong straight right hand to the nose. Mila topples back and is able to stay standing, but she’s definitely lucky the bell rang. Escaping absolute disaster at the end of that round, Kunis takes it.

29-28 Kunis.

R4: Whether that last round gave Rashida confidence or not, she comes out very aggressive to start the fourth round.

Mila has the speed advantage, but she gets caught off guard as Rashida comes barreling towards her. With nowhere to run Mila is forced to either trade punches or guard up. After slight hesitation she puts up her guard and Rashida starts banging her gloves up and down Mila’s torso.

It’s rough to watch as Mila gets absolutely throttled. Rashida clearly has the power advantage and she rocks Mila back into a corner. The former champ is holding on for dear life, just keeping her defense up as best she can as punches rattle her in the corner.

Rashida misses with a right and it’s the window Mila needs to counter punch a few quick shots and skirt out of the corner. Rashida shakes her head in frustration as she can’t get Mila in a similar spot again. Mila does a good job making up some ground by landing a few jabs here and there, but as the bell rings there’s no doubt who took that round.

38-38.

R5: Rashida comes out blazing again, but this time Mila is willing to stand toe-to-toe with her opponent.

Rashida gets in some heavy blows, knocking Mila back. But Mila stands tall and counter punches. Her plan is to take her beating and keep coming back at Rashida, but it’s a tough plan to execute.

Rashida’s blows are heavy, and an uppercut looks like it seals the deal as Mila is knocked back once more. She crashes into the ropes as Rashida throws combos aimed for Mila’s temple. But Mila is somehow able to avoid the blow and cracks Rashida across the jaw with a right hook!

Now it’s Mila who is on the hunt. She tracks down a wounded Rashida. Right hand after right hand knocking the older woman back. Rashida looked to have Mila finished, but now it’s Mila looking to end Rashida!

The Comedienne hits the ropes and is given a face-full of leather. She throws her arms around Mila and the bell rings, saving what could have been the definitive round. Mila takes it.

48-47 Kunis.

R6: Rashida looks hurt coming out of her corner. Mila’s cheeks are flushed but she seems ready to go. Mila comes out fast. Landing jabs that send Rashida’s head snapping backwards.

Kunis walks Rashida backwards… they’re getting close to the ropes when Mila goes for a right hook! And Rashida ducks it! The first blow she’s avoided the entire night and it catches Mila completely off guard. Rashida snaps her hips and launches a massive right uppercut that catches Mila square on the chin.

Mila is in a world of trouble now as she’s dazed and stumbling backwards. Rashida keeps on her. She’s bearing down, snapping that right hand again and again to Mila’s face. Mila finally eats one too many rights and collapses onto the canvas.

The ref rushes in! Mila is still aware of her surroundings. She gets to the ropes and begins to climb up. Both corners watch in anticipation. Mila stands up at 9 and turns around but then inexplicably drops back down to her knee. The ref finishes the count. It’s over!!!

Winner: Rashida Jones via KO Round 6

Post-fight:

“She definitely had me worried there,” says Rashida. “But that last minute duck really threw her off. I knew if she was feeling comfortable at any point during the fight I had that in my back pocket. It’s all about using the tools you have at the right time, not necessarily throwing them all at once. I’ll take this win and continue to get better.”

“I’m just in a bad way right now,” says Mila. “Going to have to re-think some things moving forward, I guess. Just feels like I keep slipping at the finish line, you know? Just have to get out of this rut and get a win. Then things will fall into place, hopefully.”
