SARAH CARTER VS AVRIL LAVIGNE

Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Sarah: 39 YO, 5’4 ½ (1.64 m) 61-34-5, 39 KO since 2003 Foxfire Boxing

Avril: 35 YO, 5’1 ½ (1,56 m) 34-13-0 34 KO since 2010 The Dollhouse

Before: “I’ve been in the FCBA a long time,” says veteran Sarah Carter, “but I still can’t figure how Lavigne went from being an office girl at Front Street to a big success at The Dollhouse. On top of that I never actually fought her in the 17 years I’ve been here. I had to take a look her myself.”

Avril shrugs: “The Dollhouse saw my potential and figured out how to build on that. Nice to see one of the ‘Old Guard’ sniffing around me. Mish Williams, for one, tried it and I starched her. You’ll find out what Williams found out Sarah: I’m at the top of my game and better than yiu ever were.”

Sarah scowls: “You better watch your mouth, Lavigne. You’re sounding like one of those mouthy kids I like to shut up with a hunk of leather in pie holes!”

“You watch your mouth, old lady. I’m just telling it straight and if you don’t like it—I got two fists to back it up!” snarls Lavigne.

The two fighters move together each other. Sarah’s got 3 inches on Avril, but the smaller woman looks unintimidated. They bump chests and the crowd hopefully waits for the first slap to be thrown. Alas, some spoilsport in the FCBA Front Office has placed several beefy gentlemen from FCBA Security and they appear to get between the two seething women. This causes Sarah to announce: “I’m done here! See you in the ring, Lavigne!” She walks out as Avril calls out: “Run while you can, Carter, you won’t be able to run from me in the ring!”

The ill-will expressed at the pre-fight presser was still much in evidence as the two fighters took to the ring at the PPV. Sarah Carter was in a royal blue bikini with light blue gloves and boots, royal blue aces. Sarah’s hair was in a ponytail. Avril Lavigne was in black with pink trim sports bra and short, tight trunks with black and pink boots and gloves, Her hair was in a battle braid. Much hip bumping, glowering and aggressive nudging during ring instructions drawing stern rebukes for both from that official. Measure of order is maintained to finish the instructions (and the glove tap wisely not requested). Fighters to their corners. The bell rings.

R1: Avril away aggressively as she clips Sarah hard to the head as the Foxfire veteran comes at her. Sarah recoils and Avril follows up with solid hooks to the blonde’s belly. Sarah continues to fall back and throws up her jab to disrupt Avril’s pursuit. Avril starts circling Sarah striking her to the head to keep the blonde ducking and then to the body with punishing hooks. Avril appears to be trying to work Sarah back into the ropes, but the veteran blonde proves hard to herd and Avril has to settle for dominating to the bell. Very nice looking round for Avril as she wins the round wide.

R2: Sarah Carter moves out quickly and crowds into Avril Lavigne with pounding hook to the midsection. Avril fighting back with answering right and hands being driven up in short, hard blows to smite Sarah to the abs, ribs and breast. Sarah gives the blows right back to Avril with enough force to drive Avril back step by hard-fought set. Two them just grinding it out and Sarah’s getting the better of it was Avril continues to give ground. Avril trying to rally, but then Sarah suddenly slips an uppercut into Avril’s chin to shake her up. Avril in slow retreat as the round draws to a close. Sarah Carter pulls out a narrow win.

R3: Avril looking to get back in close as the new round open. Avril advances behind a series of hooks to Sarah’s ribcage and belly. Sarah hunched up, but coming in with stubborn determination. Avril and Sarah pounding each other at close range now with their elbows moving in and out like piston rods. Avril attacking to the ribs late, just pounding the same area over and over and Sarah starts to buckle under the pressure. Sarah Carter being punched back to the ribs, it’s a slow retreat, but Avril definitely gaining control in the closing moments of the round. That late surge enables Avril to edge Sarah out and win the round.

R4: Sarah ready as Avril comes out at the bell and seems to want to crowd her in close again. Sarah firing away with crunching blows to the body and then strikes to Avril’s head, Avril forced to back off and circle. Then she thinks she sees another opening and scoots in going to Sarah’s face. Sarah ducks down, but suddenly she sees an opening and comes popping up with a right uppercut that gets in behind Avril’s gloves. POW! Avril caught right under the chin, head snaps back, as she recoils on badly shaking legs AND DOWN GOES AVRIL! Avril takes a hard seat on the canvas as a smirking Sarah takes in the sight before trotting to the neutral corner. Avril sits there trying to collect her senses as the referee counts. Avril hears the count rise and then makes a determined effort and rises at “EIGHT!” Fight resumes but Avril looks to be still trying to clear her head as she goes to a tight defense around her head and just rides out Sarah’s follow up efforts to the body. Avril makes to the bell, but looks a bit shaky returning to her corner. Sarah has won the round wide.

R5: Sarah attacking with vigor as the new round began. Avril seems slow and cautious with only a minimum of counters as she works to blunt Sarah’s incoming. Sarah getting off a lot of punches, but she’s not doing much damage. Sarah starts circling, then reversing, trying to draw Avril off balance, but Avril is sticking to her defenses. Late in the round, the frustrated Sarah just moves forward with a determined effort to bust her way in. Avril starts to fall back, Sarah leaning forward, trying to get under Avril’s mitts. AVRIL STRIKES BACK! Happens in a lightning moment as Sarah Carter is leaning in, Avril Lavigne sees an opening and KRUNCH! Right uppercut to the chin. Sarah staggers forward blindly as Avril adds some rights and lefts to the jaw AND DOWN GOES SARAH. Sarah crashes onto her face and lies there cheek against the canvas. Avril now gets to smirk down at Sarah before she goes to the neutral corner. Sarah pushes herself up from the canvas and looks up at the referee. She makes it to her feet at “NINE!”. Official checks her over and seems to hesitate about letting this go on. “Don’t you dare stop this!” Sarah hisses and the referee lets her have her way. Avril waved back in, but finds Sarah’s gone defensive, Avril punishes Sarah to the flanks for what’s left the round. Avril goes to corner happy she was able to steal a round from Sarah. Sarah looking noticeably wobbly getting back to her corner.

R6: Foxfire corner has worked hard to get Sarah Carter out for this round, but she’s moving slowly as she leaves her corner. Avril seems wary at first, she her testing punches are countered sluggishly. Now Avril launches a series of hooks into Sarah’s midsection. Sarah doubled forward and now Avril brings punches crashing hard into the sides of Sarah’s head. Sarah’s legs trembling as she tries to pull back, but Avril brings a cracking right to the jaw. SARAH CARTER TOPPLES OVER! Sarah crashing onto her side, rolling over onto her back and then just lying there. Avril quick to the neutral corner as referee moves in. Sarah trying to rise, but keeps falling back. She’s still struggling as ref is crying:

“NINE!...TEN!...YOU’RE OUT!”

THE WINNER AVRIL LAVIGNE DEFEATS SARAH CARTER KO6!

After: “She got lucky in the 4th, she caught me napping with that knockdown,” Avril tells press as she watches with satisfaction as Sarah Carter has to be helped back to her corner, “but as you can see I got her back in the 5th and finished her off in the 6th. Maybe that one slip kept it from being a perfect bout for me, but, hey I’ll take the win.”

As for Sarah Carter she’ll only say: “My corner told me I needed to throw in the towel after that knockdown. Maybe I should have listened, but Sarah Carter doesn’t quit. I went out on my shield. It’s still a loss, but I didn’t quit!”

No, Sarah Carter can’t be accused of quitting in this fight, but maybe she should have. Avril Lavigne recovered from her knockdown in the 4th, likely Ms. Carter wanted to prove she could come back too. Sadly, that’s not what happened and Avril Lavigne claims another veteran for her win column. Lively fight while it lasted with good work from both fighters, but Avril proved more durable than Sarah and that appears to be what got her the win.
