Before: Both blondes, but wildly different in demeanor—Shakira going on and on about the devastating force of her fists, Witherspoon more reserved, trying to acknowledge Shakira without giving her too much respect. Both love to work inside where short arms and compact delivery can be decisive—Witherspoon a more balanced, maybe more cerebral performer at this point, Shakira relying on her natural gifts to get the job done. Shak in baby blue and white plaid print bandeau bikini, low ponytail—Reese in navy bra style bikini with silver decoration.

During R1: Shakira the aggressor as Reese plays defense. Colombian showing a variety og hook looks—wide to the ear, stepping in to jerk it right to the ribs, doubling it up behind the elbow. Reese keeping her gloves at her temples leans in, but doesn’t work, allowing Shakira to work her over with thudding combinations. Bell to bell punishment from Shakira—Witherspoon standing in the pocket, blocking a lot of leather, but no moving her head much, and taking hard in the body.

R2: Reese’s method becomes apparent. She’s leaning forward, gloves up high, letting Shakira splatter punches up and down the flanks, but Witherspoon fitting little counter right uppercuts to the chin, digging left hooks to the sternum in between. Shakira flashier, but Reese more effective, placing shots where they hurt the most, and by the midway point, she’s got Shakira backing up. Down the stretch, Colombian butt touches ropes—Shakira stops punching, laying in with an earmuff guard as Reese busies herself downstairs—tough blonde on blonde body work to the bell.

R3: VICIOUS trading in tight—girls getting cheek to cheek and RIPPING at one another’s midriffs—it’s heartless work on the inside. Back and forth slugging draws oohs and aahs from the crowd as the girls take turns backing one another up. Witherspoon with more variety-she’s mixing up tight little uppercuts with sudden hooks to the liver, turning her shoulder into clipping little hooks to the eye, using that left shoulder to bump—but Shakira’s singleminded ferocity cant be denied. Shak just GIVING it to Reese in the belly, rights and lefts, using her elbows to shove off with and keep the pressure on, Down the stretch, Witherspoon wants out, out Shakira’s walking her down, taking Reese’s shots well and hammering away at midriff without restraint. Witherspoon all shut down and suffering in the final minute—she’s seated ropeside, bent forward as Shakira bends and bangs away underneath and WITHERSPOON GOES DOWN! Reese’s face twisted in agony as she hugs her battered ribcage and slumps to her haunches, head back as she gasps for breath. Its over—KO3 Shakira!

After: Shakira standing over a demoralized Reese Witherspoon, undulating her torso and giving the American a tasty belly dance demonstration to rub in the defeat with a hot little Latina smile. Witherspoon trading to the midsection, not believing in the sultry South American’s mystique, and Reese pays dearly for her skepticism. “She punches harder in the body than Alyssa,” a glum Reese relates after the fact, “way harder.”
