Before: Spearritt a plucky, feisty breath of fresh air--anxious to show ell against the ageless Eva L. “Longoria’s a terrific test, but I’m ready,” grins the too-cute blonde in preflight. “there’s nothing like the challenge of coming to the US and fighting a big American star on her own turf, hunger and desire will win this for me. At some point, Eva’s going to know that she simply doesn’t want it as much.” Longoria increasingly the target of young ingénues looking to climb the ladder: Eva not ready to be anyone’s springboard just yet. “Hannah’s a vivacious, fresh face,” Eva admits. “Not everyone in my position would take this fight. Kid’s got spirit, drive--she’s pasted the likes of Virginie Ledoyen and I know she really wants to take me down and make a name for herself. Not gonna happen, but it’s not hard to like her moxie. After I knock her out, Id be happy to take her for a drink!” Eva in tan, western motif bikini and boxing moccasins to mid-calf; tan sheepskin punching mittens. Hannah in black crochet bikini; tan UGG boxing boots to mid-calf; tan sheepskin punching mittens.

During R1: Crisp, energetic boxing--both girls steppin’ lively, getting off in combinations, action swirling  counterclockwise at midring, Sheepskin gloves thump and skid on contact, Minute and a half in, Hannah crouches down, rides out a Longoria flurry, then answers back a sharp hook-to-jug/chopping short right to chin; EVA GOES DOWN! Sudden power-failure in Eva’s back (right) leg sees her right knee touch down--Longoria as confused as she is hurt by the setback. Hannah all grins jogging to neutral corner: great start for the punching pixie.

R2: Quick hands from Hannah as she squares away toe-to-toe and out hits Longoria. Eva tentative, frowning--Hannah’s ripping ratatat combos head and body--Longoria being beaten to punches. Spearritt nice and compact--dukes at her chin, elbows in as she crouches close to Eva, then tears away quick-mitt flurries. Chopping rights particularly effective for Hannah: she hacks ‘em in double to cheek, scoring around Eva’s left wrist. Final minute, pair of swatting, close-in hooks startles Eva to face: Hannah dips left, chopping her right hand short to Longoria’s chin and DROPS  EVA AGAIN! Nothing fancy: hard work; tons of volume; short, sharp power punches unhinging Eva’s knees through 2.

R3: Hannah peppers Eva with a brace of jabs to open--stepping around Longoria’s right flank while lumping up that beautiful face. Hannah to the body with a side-arm right; Hannah to the face with a gouging hook. Hannah reaching in with her left to push Eva’s right arm back, then smiting Longoria a short-chopping right to jaw. Eva retreating always and everywhere--confusion reigns as Spearritt’s tempo overwhelms Longoria’s class. Final minute--Eva’s got the jab unpacked, finally running cute blonde face onto useful poke. Longoria able to lean in and fetch Hannah a drifting right to chin off the jab: Spearritt’s legs give a shimmy--she backs off hurt for the first time as Eva roars over to offence at the bell.

R4: Momentum shift: Eva walking Hannah down with purpose, Stubborn resistancer from Spearritt sees Eva engaged I brutal trade throughout the first minute and a half: Spearritt able to slowly wrest control of the round from Eva I a series f ring dingdong exchanges. Longoria finishes up retreating, face shiny and starting to lump up, Hannah’s little buzz-saw combos effectively chewing Longoria up in withering trade.

R5: Eva regroups, rocks Hannah with a long overhand right early. Spearritt covering up peak-a-boo: Eva rips a right uppercut, then another tuff right cross to wobble blonde backside. Swinging, straight arm hooks shivers off Hannah’s breadbasket: Eva able to land firm, step forward as blonde wilts. Minute mark: Spearritt with a blazing flurry off the ropes--swiping, hacking little lefts and rights forcing Longoria to cover up. Hannah able to spin off the ropes--lips curled back, eyes glaring as she spits jabs and circles to her right. Chopping right hands victimizing Longoria to left cheek: Hannah dropping little tomahawk clouts in to cap her sequences. Girls finish up leaning in cheek-to-cheek: Hannah hustling sheepskin into Eva’s gut with thumping vigor; Longoria waiting her turn when the bell rings.

R6: Longoria setting down on her punches, looking to harm Spearritt rather than match her punch for punch. Eva pawing out the jab, weight on  right (back) foot, luring Hannah in: Spearritt complies, walks onto a ripping right uppercut as Eva arches her supple back into the punch. Hannah lifted up--she’s stunned: Eva loops a short right to jaw, then another hoisting right uppercut, DROPPING SPEARRITT TO ALL FOURS! Eva shouting out “YES!” finally turning the tide on her little tormentress, Spearritt battles up at 8, but she’s shabby: Longoria cleans up hard down the stretch, batting away viciously behind either blonde elbow. Spearritt sniveling at the bell: her first gut check as Eva puts the hurt on in the 6th.

R7,8: Eva consolidates--hunting Spearritt down with the long jab, then slamming away with hard power. Longoria featuring a straight-arm, baiting hook to Hannah’s ribs and tummy--punch shivers on contact. Eva’s slender limb rigid as a two-by-four. Longoria driving in right crosses off jabs or body-shot hooks, penetrating Hannah’s peek-a-boo, punching that pretty face: sheepskin gloves skid and thump off bones, not cutting Spearritt but bruising her up. Through 8, Hannah’s left eye is swelling and she’s mouth breathing, wincing away from an aggressive Eva Longoria. Eva grinning, doing a little salsa-step en route to he corner after 8: she’s finding her rhythm.

R9: Hello, Hannah! Spearritt stands up into a short, intercepting hook-to-chin seconds in, neatly sitting Eva onto her glutes as Longoria’s late with her own hook. Eva gingerly up, takes her 8: she’s much more cautious stepped-to her foe. More thoughtful action--Eva carefully stalking Hannah; Hannah cross-stepping with dukes near her chin, ready to claw away in swishy combinations, half way point--girls trade hooks to the midsection--Hannah doubles up, hooking Eva tidy to chin--blonde tucking her shoulder in behind the shot and SITTING EVA DOWN AGAIN! Longoria in shock--sitting up with hands behind her, eyes bkinking, Hannah brightening, grinning down, punching her mitts together: she’s just rocked Eva for a 10-7 ninth. At the bell--Hannah turns away from frustrated Eva, stops, gives a little shoulder shimmy and prowling step-of-celebration: better believe Spearritt saw Eva’s cheeky salsa-action last round.

R10” Eva forcing her way up the  middle--knows she needs something dramatic. Hannah anticipating, jerking her hooks into Eva’s breasts or mouth, then dropping that short, chopping right that’s been there for her all night, Longoria shredded on the way in, head jerking as Hannah’s sheepskinned fists skid off jaw lines and cheekbones. Eva’s knees giving way more than once, but she gets to the Spearritt ribcage with hooks, whacking away with authority, backing Hannah up. Ropes; Spearritt again just pulls her elbows in, swishes her fists back and forth in a withering chopping flurry to buffet Eva senseless; blonde able to spin off the ropes, turn Longoria’s left flank and put EVA’S back to cables. Round finishes up with crowd roaring as Hannah moves in mouth-on-shoulder, Ripping back and forth underneath as flyweight hup-hup-hup away to offending breadbaskets, each trying to outwork the other. Comes back UD10--Hannah Spearritt!

After: Upset! Longoria well-pasted, looking stunned and crestfallen at the decision. Hannah beside herself--hugging everything in sight, crying and laughing: it’s a huge victory for Britain’s pluckiest blonde. “I knew she could be outworked,” Hannah claims in post fight. “ knew she could be outboxed, and I knew I was faster. Eva may have overtrained: her legs didn’t look fresh, and they were reall folding up under her when I landed my right hands. She was a great champion; I’m just thrilled to have thrashed her so!”
