Kate Upton vs. Bo Krsmanovic (Unified Welterweight Title)

(Results: Lookout!; Words: Front Street)

BEFORE:

You could call this a "poster fight", if it weren't so much more than that. An argument could be made that the ladies stepping into the ring in this one are the two hottest women in the FCBA. But, again, it's so much more. This fight is also for the Unified Welterweight Championship and gives Krsmanovic, who's been on the fringes of the Group of Ten to, perhaps, break into that elite with a huge win over a fighter who remains smack in the middle of the pound-for-pound discussion and may also remain the FCBA's biggest star. Yeah. Lots of moving parts here. But, for Beautiful Bo, it's actually much simpler. "Tonight's the night," the brunette says with a smile. "Tonight's the night I win the gold."

"It took me some time," says a hard-eyed Kate, "To get these belts back. And, I'm not giving them up any time soon. Count on that."

ROUND ONE:

Yeah. Kate's not looking to give these belts up anytime soon. She's stepping right to Bo, backing up the taller woman with heavy shot. Krsmanovic a bit taken aback, was looking to do some gun-platform boxing here, but the blonde not having it. Instead, she's aggressively at the brunette, sitting down on punches early, getting very physical. And, Bo's not going to get into a firefight at this point, so, she gives ground, fights off the back foot. And, that's not a good way to compete with Kate Upton. Result is that the blonde dominates from the opening bell, repeatedly forcing Krsmanovic to cover up and give ground with hard flurry after hard flurry. Bo has moments here and there when she's able to get off in counter, but, when the bell rings, Kate's won it wide and leads 10-9.

ROUND TWO:

Kate pressing, but Bo showing more lateral movement now. Brunette not going to stand in front if Kate's going to try to walk her down. Instead, she's playing angles, getting off center, and managing to get some time and space to box. But, not as much of either as she'd like. Kate's having to work harder to line Bo up, but she's getting it done in spots, and, when she does, it's back to what we saw in the first. Blonde forward, brunette backward. In other moments, though, when Bo has the space she wants, Krsmanovic's getting the better of things, putting together punches well scoring in flurries for the first time in the fight. It all adds up to a very close round, with each fighter offsetting the other when she's getting what she wants, and, when the bell rings, there's nothing in it at all. It's an even round, leaving the blonde up 20-19.

ROUND THREE:

Kate again working forward, but Bo's doubling up the jab now, slowing the blonde down. Combine the extra left hand obstacles with the lateral movement, and, all of a sudden, Kate can't get to spots. Instead, she's being held out on the end of Bo's punches, which is NOT where she wants to be. But, Krsmanovic's jusssttttt fine with it. She's really getting the offense going now, dropping hard rights on Kate as the blonde tries to find a way forward, without success. Beautiful Bo getting more and more done as the round goes on. Upton completely frustrated by her rival's accurate left and educated feet. By the final seconds, Bo's teeing off and it's Kate covering up as the crowd gets into it in a big. Way. At the bell, Krsmanovic's claimed the points wide and evened things at 29.

ROUND FOUR:

More of the same. Bo in a rhythm. She's taking control of this fight with that long left hand, popping it in Kate's face again and again, controlling her with it, setting up those long, hard right hands. Upton not just getting out-pointed, but punished now, as the brunette lands hard, accurate rights that are bound to take their toll on the blonde. Kate's not hurt, but she's feeling it, and, worse, she can't get her own offense going save the occasional hard right hand. Otherwise, it's all the challenger, who's definitely feeling it by the final minute of the round when she again puts the champion on the defensive and tees off with some hard, accurate combinations that that send sweat flying from the champion's head. At the bell, there's no doubt again. Bo. Wide. And up 39-38.

ROUND FIVE:

Bo just rolling now. Kate has no answers. Krsmanovic's getting what she wants when she wants it, and the blonde can't bring her go-to physicality to bear. Instead, she's getting picked up over and over again by the brunette, and it all starts with that double-tapping left jab, which seems to always be followed quickly by a hard accurate right hand. And, all those right hands are adding up. Kate's left eye is starting to get puffy and she's starting to scuff. And, you can BET the challenger's noticed. The brunette's absolutely OOZING confidence as the round goes on. She's taking the fight to, arguably, the best fighter in the entire FCBA. Final seconds see a NASTY combination from Bo that stops Kate in her tracks followed by a solid right that snaps back Upton's head at the bell. No doubt yet again. Bo. Wide. And now up 49-47.

ROUND SIX:

Kate adjusts, no longer pushing forward. Instead, she sets up at range and we see the gun-platform stuff that Bo was looking for in the first. Kate giving away just a bit of reach here, but the veteran blonde knows how to angle and make up for that. Meanwhile, the rangy Krsmanovic is more than at home on these terms, putting punches together, scoring well with both hands. There's not much in it most of the way, as both fighters have their moments. Final minute, though, sees the champion land a hard right hand that gets Bo's attention and quickly, Kate follows up, stepping forward and backing the brunette up with a series of heavy right hands. Krsmanovic eventually stabilizes here front and gets back to work, but Kate's late rally is enough to get her the round close and cut Bo's lead to 58-57

ROUND SEVEN:

More ranged warfare, with both blonde and brunette putting punches together well. Bo working that left, punishing Kate with hard follow-on rights. Upton angling just a bit to make up for the reach, getting off in combination, forcing her rival to cover up here and there. There's not a lot in it through the first two minutes, as both champion and challenger give as good as they get. Until. BOOM! RIGHT-HAND, UPTON and DOWN GOES BEAUTIFUL BO! Kate's landed an absolutely BLISTERING right on the screws and Krsmanovic crashes to her back in the middle of the ring! Upton quickly to a neutral corner as the referee counts down on the challenger, but it's all academic. Brunette isn't moving at all. She's both down and out and it's OVER! That quickly, it's OVER and your winner by KO7 and STILL Unified Welterweight Champion, Kate 'The Great' Upton!

AFTER:

Kate's been in a fight, and her beautiful face shows it, puffy around the eyes, scuffed up, but that lovely smile is there in the post-fight interview. "She's good," the blonde admits. "She's long and she's quick and she has a lot of power. But, the thing is, when you get in there with ME, well. You're in there with the best fighter in the FCBA. And, you aren't going to come out on top. That's just the way it is."
