Billed as the “Battling B Movie Queens”—Piper fought in support of her newly released “The Cave” while “Anacondas” star KaDee took the payday despite her distaste for genre filmmaking and Piper in particular. “She’s perfect for monster movies”, sniffed Strickland in days leading up to the fight. “Seriously, iof she’s not screaming—she’s in over her head as an actress”.

The action was surprisingly tart, with both women very textbook and orthodox, but also very fit, professional and accomplished in the ring. “They look like fighting track athletes,” gushed one BLONDE! columnist in attendance, and, indeed, the slim taut-bodied beauties did convey a better-than-average athleticism in the fight.

Working off jabs, both women were able to hit each other very hard tonight. Piper lifted KaDee off her feet with a series of raking hooks in the second, while Strickland returned the favour with a jolting right cross in the third. Both showed nice variety, mixing it up head and body, putting combinations together and taking turns backing the opponent up.

The difference was marginal, but consistent throughout the fight as Piper got the better of KaDee in little ways all night long. Piper beat KaDee to the punch with a fresher, more robust jab. Piper was the busier, harder-hearted woman inside, usually forcing Strickland to take a step back and a deep breath after the exchanges. Both women showed an ability to come off the canvas and compete, but Perabo’s eyes blazed just a little brighter, her eagerness for hot combat just a touch more intense than Strickland’s.

The final product was certainly crowd pleasing—prompting many ways to label it better than the movie. And how pleased was Perabo with her performance? “Bring on Jessica Alba!” The Alba-esque blonde gushed in postfight. “If she wants to open her stupid swimsuit movie with a splash, I’ll be happy to knock her out at the premiere!”
