BEFORE: This fight takes place in the otherwise legendary Long Beach location which is a curious choice since Kat Dennings has hardly fought on the West Coast in her FCBA career. But they don't have any eligible beach settings in her home state of Pennsylvania and Nina somehow didn't want to accept a trip to Miami amid rumours Demi Lovato was ready to spoil the show in case the Canadian stunner showed up there for this very PPV.

Kat Dennings wears a navy blue bikini set & black gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a high ponytail. Nina Dobrev wears a yellow bikini set & silver gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Both women are barefoot. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
Kat sets off with aggressive jabbing and begins to stack up several punches into the fellow brunette's face and Nina just doesn't seem to find the urgency to respond in equally committed fashion. She relies on her footwork to escape Kat's slugging charge but eventually gets caught by a wild overhand on the temple and wobbles to her heels which allows the older actress to cash in with another jabbing rally and drive the Canadian onto the ropes. Kat feels like she's never left the Asylum and bangs more punches straight up the middle; Nina fires back with lacklustre precision and gets outworked again with Dennings piling more leather into her face to claim the opening round wide!

Round 2:
Perhaps the LCA coaching staff never expected such a feisty start from the American and Nina quickly establishes the jabbing order in the second, she slips by Kat's slugging efforts and picks her off over the top to pay back the head-hunting favor. Dobrev owns the superior mobility and basically glues Dennings to the spot before another piercing combo on the tummy makes the older brunette groan in discomfort. Kat tries to reach out upstairs but remains a split second slower than her opponent and eats an overhand response instead. She prevents Dobrev from pounding her onto the ropes but loses the round on points anyway.

Round 3:
Both women seek a slugging breakthrough in the third and it's Dennings who gets on top of the former champion when she rips a left/right cross on the nose and bangs the younger brunette to the body as well. Ugh! Nina wobbles to her heels but digs them in the sand and refuses to spin away into mid-range... meanwhile Kat turns it from the hip and blows another cruel harpoon on the solar plexus that sends Nina stumbling onto the ropes anyway! She slumps there in visible discomfort and simply can't stay off Kat's lane - the American roars into a jabbing haze and dissects the Canadian's guard before thumping her below the breasts again to FORCE IMMEDIATE KNOCKDOWN as Dobrev crashes down on her knees! Uh-oh!!! Front Street coach Grace Park shouts in delight and Kat thinks this might be the day when she scores that elite PPV victory after all. Nina takes her time but gets up at eight... she has to rely on her superior footwork to avoid a complete disaster thereafter and Dennings taunts her into showing some of that badassery she's been so proud of! Demi Lovato could never! 29-27 Kat after three!

Rounds 4 & 5:
Dennings can feel that big victory here on the Long Beach sands and pounces after the reeling Dobrev who seems to have truly run into a wall here as she's unable to keep up with the menacing opponent. Kat widens the gap on the cards as she hassles the younger brunette all over the area but just can't find that one combo that would put this contest to bed! Even those taunts don't seem to be working while LCA coach Eva Mendes doesn't appear to be worried either. Nina kicks up plenty of sand while she weaves away from the American's range while sending mere single-hand assault in response. She's basically given up on the scorecards and the question is whether Dennings sits on such a big lead going forward? It's 49-45 KD at half-distance!

Round 6:
Kat doesn't have to press it anymore and Grace Park accepts taking the foot off the gas which slowly brings Dobrev back in play during the sixth. Both women trade more headshots in the center of the ring, bump cleavage and clinch each other into a stalemate before Nina rips a wild harpoon on the liver area and shows Dennings backwards. Kat blows her fuse and reaches out with more slugging ideas but Dobrev ducks underneath the effort and bangs a chin shot from the inside followed an uppercut rally on the bumpers. Ugh! Kat didn't see that coming and she's forced to soak up more jabs in the phone booth as Dobrev suddenly jumps into a higher gear and outworks the hitherto dominant brunette to shut her down on the ropes in the closing stages.

Round 7:
Both women tangle in the center of the ring and slap each other downstairs before another jug-to-jug contact wobbles them off balance. Nina recovers first and rips a left hook on the liver area as Kat tries to step in but gets beaten to the punch and slumps forward upon impact... Dobrev flies in with a booming right hook on the ear that makes the older brunette yelp in pain before she gets whacked on the nose and cries out in pain on the spot. Nina charges at the briefly stunned foe and bangs another combo on the temples before she plugs another piledriver on the solar plexus that SENDS DENNINGS CRASHING DOWN ON HER BACK!!! Kat hugs the aching chest and rolls into embrional position while the referee doesn't exactly bide his time with the count.. Grace Park tries to urge her fighter back but Kat requires a dose of oxygen and makes a very late effort to get up here. She climbs to all fours at eight but that;s not good enough and gets counted OUT while still down on one knee!!! KO7 Nina Dobrev in come-from-behind fashion for the ages!!!

AFTER: That feels like the last dagger to Kat Dennings' championship ambitions! She had the future Hall of Famer Nina Dobrev signed, sealed and... and... basically pulled an Earnest Byner at the goal-line! Simply unbelievable how this fight still ended with the Canadian woman victorious! Even the LCA entourage can't quite believe it and Nina offers Eva Mendes a cheeky smile while getting her gloves removed: "Told ya I had this under control!" (winks). "No, you didn't! That's a daylight robbery we'll hear all about on Monday when Boxing World Online hits town!"
