Lily James vs Kelly Brook
(Writing: LMW / Results: Lookout!)

Lily James
(32, 5’7, 5-0 combined, League of Mighty Women)

Kelly Brook
(41, 5’8, 62-80-5 combined, This is Glamour)

Pre-Fight: League of Mighty Women’s Lily James will try to stay undefeated as she faces her biggest challenge yet against former multiple-time champion Kelly Brook of This is Glamour. We are at the Will Rogers State Beach in Los Angeles, where they set up a temporary venue for this bout. It is where Baywatch was filmed, so Lily and her stable choose this location as Lily will be portraying Pamela Anderson in her upcoming limited series. She will be donning her Pam look from the series for this PPV weekend as well.

Lily seems to be having fun with her Pam look as she is all smiles when addressing the audience in the pre-fight press conference. “This will be a fun experience. I will fight in my first beach boxing bout, I’m going with my Pam look from the series we just finished filming and I will be fighting against someone that I look up to. She is a big success story for us British fighters and I would be happy to follow her footsteps. That being said and I mean no disrespect, but she has been in the league for a long time and she is definitely past her prime. So, this would be a good time to pass the torch. Plus, Ali (Landry) knows how to beat her and she trained me well for this fight, so it will be fun to cap this weekend off with a win!”

Kelly doesn’t look impressed by her opponent’s cheerful and confident manner as she takes her turn to address the audience and Lily. “Just because you sugarcoat it and say “no disrespect” don’t make it any less disrespectful. Yes, I have struggled with my fights recently, but I’m still a top fighter and you’ll experience why firsthand. You might do well in the future, but you are not ready to carry the torch or anything yet. By the way, aren’t you missing something or “a pair of things” to be more precise to portray Pam.” It is obviously not a JMDD bout, but those are definitely fighting words as Kelly flaunts her own impressive pair after finishing her sentence. They both finish the press conference in a civil and respectful manner, but there is definitely some tension there.

The temporary beach venue is ready for fight night as the ring posts are directly set up into the sand, so both fighters will be going barefoot for this bout.

Lily comes out first with her coach Ali Landry next to her. She waves to the cheering crowd as she walks through the sandy beach and enters through the ropes. She then blows a kiss towards the fans as she seems to be enjoying the experience.

As expected, she is going for the Baywatch Pam look as she wears a red one-piece swimsuit with red gloves, while her hair dyed platinum blonde hair is tied into a ponytail.

Kelly comes out next with her coach Melinda Messenger accompanying her. She has a focused look on her face, but she still takes the time to acknowledge the fans cheering for her with a wave. After going through the ropes, she starts shadowboxing.

She is wearing a white one-piece swimsuit with white gloves, while her hair is also tied into a ponytail.

The referee asks them to come to the center for the final instructions and then both fighters touch gloves and give each other a cold but respectful nod before stepping back to their corners. We are now ready for 10 rounds of lightweight beach boxing!

Fight: Round 1: Both fighters seem confident as they step forward and meet at the center to start things off with a little exchange. They both register their first hits, but they keep this first exchange short and sweet as they disengage without landing anymore shots. Lily tries to step in to start another exchange, but Kelly lands a defensive jab and then steps back. Looks like Kelly is trying to establish a slower pace by stopping Lily’s early advances. She succeeds as Lily starts settling after two more failed attempts. This lets Kelly to start exchanges on her own terms and while there isn’t much of a difference in total punches landed in these exchanges, Kelly is the one who scores with the power shots.

As we are coming towards the end of the round, Kelly’s power shots are adding up and starting to cause trouble for Lily. They engage in another exchange. Lily lands two jabs, but Kelly answers with a one-two combo followed by an uppercut to the midsection and a couple of hooks to the chin. Fortunately for Lily, the bell rings before she could get in deeper trouble. Still, Kelly is the clear winner of this round, so starts things off with a solid lead on the scorecard.

During the break, Ali tells Lily to switch things up. “You are letting Kelly dictate the pace and let her hit you with those big shots. She has the power behind those punches, so you can’t keep getting hit by those and hope to go far in this fight. You have to use your speed and footwork to unsettle her. That way you will start finding openings.”

Round 2: Lily tries to up the tempo to change things around in this round and she seems more willing to initiate exchanges now. She steps in and out of range to land a couple of shots without getting hit back much. As Lily pushes the pace, Kelly starts to struggle with it as she hasn’t found her rhythm yet with this increased pace. This constant moving around and short exchanges seems to overwhelm Kelly as scores with a few jabs, but doesn’t find the mark with her follows up, while Lily finds openings to land her jab-straight combos as well as some good hooks to the side of her opponent’s face.

Lily keeps scoring with those short combinations for the rest of the round to open up a good lead in total punches landed, which gives her the win in this round. She not only tied things up on the scorecard, but disrupted Kelly’s game plan with this faster pace.

Round 3: Encouraged by her success with it in the previous round, Lily once again pushes up the pace as soon as the bell rings. She has adjusted well to move around on the sand, so she is having a lot of success with getting in range for her short combinations and then getting out before Kelly could answer back. This leads to Kelly getting frustrated with her opponent and getting more aggressive with her attacks, but she ends up giving more openings for Lily to take advantage of with quick punches to the face and the body.

All those punches keep adding up and Kelly seems to be in trouble as we enter the final minute of the third round. She tries to stop her opponent with defensive jabs, but they don’t halt Lily’s advance as she has been in a very good rhythm since the last round. Lily finds the mark with another one-two combination and then she lands a couple of shovel hooks to the body. She finishes her attack with an uppercut aimed for the midsection, but it ends up landing under Kelly’s left breast, which might have been the actual target after what she said in the press conference.

Kelly looks relieved as the bell signals the end of the round, but it is another big win for Lily, who goes on top on the scorecards. It is Melinda’s turn to give her fighter some advice in between the rounds. “You can’t keep up with this pace. Your defense is falling apart! You need to slow her down and turn it into a more physical fight.”

Round 4: Lily comes out of the break with that relentless pace again as it has worked wonderfully for her so far. She scores with a short combination and gets out. Kelly is ready for her the next time she gets in and she clinches with her, pushing the younger Brit towards the ropes while landing a couple of short punches to the body. She then gives Lily a small shove and lands a couple hooks to the ribs. Kelly only lets her opponent move in and out of exchanges for a bit before she clinches with her again. Same tactic: a few short punches during the clinch, a little shove and a few parting shots to the ribs. It turns out to be an effective strategy for Kelly as she successfully slows down Lily, who is now getting bullied around the ring with clinches, shoves and body shots. Kelly also seems to be purposefully pushing her breasts against Lily’s, probably to display her superiority in that manner, again going back to their exchange in the press conference.

Kelly comes back with a big round win as she did some damage with those body shots, while Lily was only able to score with a few punches as she spent the rest of the round getting pushed around.

Round 5: Ali told Lily to keep her distance from her opponent and not get caught up in those clinches during the break. Lily is heeding her coach’s advice and tries to stay away, but she doesn’t seem to have recovered completely from the punishment her body received in the previous round. As a result, her footwork isn’t as quick as it was in the opening rounds, which gives Kelly some time to set up a few more of those power shots to the ribs and the midsection. She is however keeping out of those clinches for the time being and slowly finding back her rhythm to land some punches from the outside before Kelly can respond.

Some improvements for Lily in this round, but Kelly still ends up with a higher significant punches count that gives her the round, so she once again goes on top on the scorecards. Lily is still in this fight though and her coach encourages her to give all she got to turn the tables once again in her favor.

Round 6: Kelly might regret not pushing her advantage in the previous round, because Lily seems to have recovered in the meantime and encouraged by her coach’s words, she is pushing up the pace one more time. She is back to her hit and run tactic, which quickly frustrates Kelly yet again. The former champion tries to land her big punches that helped her earlier, but Lily is quick enough to avoid them this time. Lily keeps landing her short combinations, adding up to Kelly’s frustration.

As we enter the second minute of the round, Kelly tries to slow things down again. As Lily scores with another jab-straight combo with her back close to the ropes, Kelly tries to back her into the ropes with a clinch. Lily avoids it by ducking and landing a big overhand punch and then sidestepping and landing a hook to the chin. Kelly stumbles as her momentum carries her forward towards the ropes. With her opponent stuck on the ropes, Lily goes for a barrage of punches to Kelly’s midsection and ribs. She then changes levels and lands a jab followed by a cross that lands hard. Kelly seems to be slumping as Lily lands a lead uppercut under her right breast, which was clearly the intended target this time and with the impact it ends up hitting Kelly’s face. Lily finishes things off with a massive right hook to the jaw sending Kelly face first to the sand with her right arm dangling on the bottom rope! Lily quickly heads to the neutral corner as the referee begins the count. 1…2…3… getting some support from the ropes, Kelly raises her head up, spits her gum shield alongside some sand 4…5…6… she pushes herself up a bit and then rests her head and back on the ropes for a moment 7…8… she grabs the top rope with one hand and bends a knee as she gets ready to get up 9…10 she cannot find the strength to get up in time though and the she gets counted out!

Official Result: Winner by KO in round 6, Lily James!

Post-Fight: Lily raises her hand in celebration and goes over to her corner as Ali comes in to hug and congratulate her fighter. On the other side of the ring, Kelly takes a moment before getting help from Melinda to get back on her feet. After sitting down on her corner stool, the medical staff checks her and gives her the thumbs up. She still looks a bit shaken as Lily comes over to check up on her. Kelly doesn’t seem to be in the mood for talking though, so they share a quick moment of respect as they nod to each other.

After getting her hand raised, Lily takes the microphone and addresses the cheering crowd on the beach. “It has been a fun weekend and it is a great feeling to finish it on a high note with this win over an amazing fighter. Things got a bit intense for a while there as we are both very competitive, but there are no hard feelings on my part and I hope that’s the case with Kelly as well. She is still a fighter that I look up to and respect, so it is a good feeling to be able to get a win against her after a hard fought battle. Thank you for your support. It is time to celebrate!”

Lily looked good as she won the biggest fight of her young career. She survived the attacks of her experienced opponent, listened to her coach and used her speed and quickness to get the win. As for Kelly, she showed that she is still a dangerous fighter at her age and that she can cause trouble for rising stars that are hoping to replace her, but also that she might struggle to stop them.
