SHAY MITCHELL VS SYDNEY SWEENEY

Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Shay: 34 YO, 5’7 ½ (1.71 m), 33-31-0-, 31 KO since 2011, Pretty Little Punchers

Sydney: 23 YO, 5’3 ½ (1.61 m), 10-3-0, 10 KO since 2020, Global Boxing Syndicate

Before: “Sure I’m giving up 4 inches to Shay, but I gave up more than to Bella Thorne and beat her,” declares busty blonde Sydney Sweeney in the pre-fight. “I’m out to prove I can beat the ‘big girls’ and that I’m more than a JMD fighter. Shay’s a veteran, plenty tough, but beatable. All I have to do is find the way to it.”:

Shay Mitchell shrugs at this youthful ambition: “Nice of her her to admit I am challenge, but beating Bella Thorne doesn’t set her up to beat me. After all, I’ve beaten Bella too. Plus it may be a big deal for Sydney to beat me, but it would make me look bad losing to a younger, smaller girl. I’ve got plenty of fight left in me and I’m going to have to beat these younger women coming up. So that’s my motivation here: don’t lose to Sydney Sweeney and keep working on building a winning record in 2021.”

Shay and Sydney soon meet again when they stand facing each other in the ring. It’s Fight Night and Shay is in a tan bikini with black gloves and boots (tan laces). Shay’s hair is pulled her in a tight battle braid down her back. Sydney in a hot pink faux lingerie bikini with matching pink gloves and boots with white laces. Blonde hair in perky ponytail. Sydney with her hands on her hips tries to body up on the taller Shay in an apparent to effort to show she’s not intimidated by the height difference. Shay seems unwilling to get sucked into a pre-fight just tries to ignore her as the referee orders Syd to step back. After that, ring instructions proceed smoothly and there is a curt tapping of the gloves before fighters go to their corners. Then the bell rings.

R1: Shay and Sydney both out promptly, but Shay gets in the first licks: a crisp one/two that smacks the blonde square on the chin. Sydney falls back, her legs shaking and trying to keep her gloves up high. Shay smoothly starts pumping hooks into Syd’s juggs, rib cage and stomach. Steady, relentless pressure is bending Sydney forward and now Shay adds some bouncing blows off the side of Sydney’s head. Sydney trying to counter, but she she’s not slowing down Shay very much. Shay dancing around the beleaguered blonde and keeping under smacking pressure to the bell. Opening round goes wide to Shay Mitchell.

R2: Out they come again for R2. This time it is Sydney Sweeney moving with more speed and she is able to startled Shay with a cracking right to the jaw that spins Shay’s head. Shay lurching away, but Sydney smoothly staying with the taller brunette and firing away. Shay getting socked hard in the jaw, chin, and side of the head. Nasty overhand right bloodies her nose before Shay can get her guard up tight around her head. Sydney now digging hard into Shay’s body with a drumbeat of body punches from breast to belly and back again. Sydney looks to be trying to get Shay into the ropes, but Shay keeping to the middle the ring. Late in the round, Shay able to get he jab going and this slows Syd down. However, at the bell, Sydney Sweeney is the round’s winner by a wide margin.

R3: Bell sounds and Sydney is out very aggressively. Sydney strikes at Shay Mitchell to the head, but finds Shay blocking mist of these. Sydney quickly returns to attacking Shay to the body. Shay responds with body shots of her own. In short order, the two of them are at poijnt0blank range heaving rights and lefts against one another’s torsos. Sydney using her smaller size to hunch up, thus presenting less of a target, while leveraging her body punches by setting her feet. The battle rages very even most of the way, but as the final minute is reached, Sydney is slowly, but definitely pushing the taller Shay back with a stream of hooks to the belly. Bell sounds and Shay is bent forward, breathing hard, Sydney breathing hard too, but she senses what the judges will confirm: she’s won this round by a close margin.

R4: As new round begins, Shay and Sydney move out to center of the ring, but then start circling and exchanging a few probing punches. Then Shay steps forward, throws a left hooks towards Syd’s bruised midsection, but then fires in a lightning right that clips Syd hard to the chin. Sydney stumbling away, knees buckling and just trying to stay up. Shay has to scramble to catch up with her an start her follow-up punching. Sydney covered up much of the round and taking a lot of punches to the flanks, off the sides of her head and directly to the body. Sydney gets some countering jabs going in the closing minute, but it’s not really doing much to stop Shay from winning the round wide ,

R5: Sydney wins the race to landing the first blow this round as she drives a deep hook into Shay’s tanned midriff. Shay jackknifed forward and then gets smashed hard to the chin by uppercuts from Syd. Shay falling back quickly, trying to regain her composure, but Sydney flying at her, bombarding Shay with punches high and low. Shay finds herself driven into the ropes. She quickly takes a seat on the strands and protects her face, but Sydney goes all-out against Shay’ exposed body. Very thorough washboarding of Shay’s shuddering torso with only the sound of the bell causing Sydney to break it off. Sydney steps back and watches with interest as a pale, sweat drenched Shay Mitchell gets off the ropes. Shay giving Sydney a sullen look before trudging passed her to her corner. Big smile on the blonde’s face as she walks back to her own corner. She knows she’s won this round wide.

R6: Shay MItchell shows veteran toughness as she steps out firmly for the new round after taking a bad beating to the body in R5. Sydney eagerly coming at Shay, but gets rude awakening when Shay drives a big, booming right a straight into Sydney’s left eye! Syd recoils in shock and then gets a left into the same eye! Area around the eye rapidly swelling and Sydney’s legs are trembling as she tries to get away. Shay moves with the stricken Sydney and gets in a nasty uppercut behind Syd’s loose high guard. Sydney’s head jerks back and now Shay brings crushing right/let to Sydney’ jaw. It’s all too much for the young blonde as SYDNEY topples to her knees and then pitches forward onto her face. Shay heads for the neutral corner, Referee starts counting. Sydney trying to rise, pushes her upper body up on to her hands and everyone can see that ugly swelling around her left eye. Syd tries to push further, ends up falling back into a sitting position on the csnvas. There is a forlorn look on Syney Sweeney’ face as she hears referee calling out:

“EIGHT!...NINE!...TEN!...YOU’RE OUT!”

THE WINNER: SHAY MITCHELL DEFEATRS SYDNEY SWEENEY KO6!

After: “She’s got plenty of punch and vigor, but it just didn’t work against me,” Shay Mitchell comments after the fight. “I am just glad I was able to beat her. The size difference really didn’t matter, It was my ability to come back after that 5th Round beating and take her down that made the difference.”

Sydney has to be helped to her corner and Shay goes over to check on the young blonde. She gives the kid a hug and adds:

“:Sorry about the eye, I recommend a lot of ice packs.”

Sydney does speak to the press. Unlike some fighters, she does not wear dark glasses to conceal what is not a beauty of a black eye.

“Take all the pictures you want. I earned this black eye and I’ll post some of the pis as motivations to leave some future opponent with one,” says Sydney showing good spirit despite the setback. “Of course, I wasn’t thrilled she beat me, but Shay Mitchell is an opponent I will remember. I might have underestimated her ability to come back after I was sure I had broken her down in the 5th. Lesson learned and I’ll go forward sadder but wiser.”

Shay Mitchell’s toughness probably was the decisive factor in this fight. Sydney had her chance in the 5th, but couldn’t get Shay down and out. Shay came back in the 6th and it soon it was Sydney down and being counted out. Lively contest. Shay Mitchell’s now got two solid wins in a row. Fans will be looking forward to seeing what happens next with her. While fans of Sydney Sweeney are hoping for a quick bounce back from this loss.
