Emily DiDonato versus Amanda Cerny

Emily DiDonato: 28 years old, 5’10”, 16-6 since 2017, Fates Boxing

Amanda Cerny: 28 years old, 5’7”, 7-3 since 2018, Holloway Boxing

Before:

Two brunette lightweights with title ambitions collide in what they hope will put them in the front of the line. The press conference is abuzz with excitement as the two girls sit down at their microphones.

DiDonato is the first to speak, “Amanda has done a really good job so far working to establish herself as a legit force in the FCBA. I couldn’t think of a better way to end the decade than on a fight with someone who has had an amazing rise.”

Cerny smiles and compliments Emily back, “It’ll be a challenge to go against Emily, but I’m looking forward to it.”

Come time for the fight, DiDonato is the first girl to emerge from the back. The walks to the ring and removes her robe to reveal a dark green bikini set with white gloves. Cerny then makes her way to the ring and has chosen a red bikini with black gloves for the fight tonight. The two girls touch gloves and the ref calls for the bell.

Round 1:

Emily starts off aggressively, charging out of her corner and taking a big swing at Amanda to start off the match, but barely grazes the shorter brunette. Amanda quickly drives two short punches into Emily’s exposed ribs. DiDonato gets a right punch in that gets Cerny in her chin, but the glamour model takes the punch off her chin and goes to Emily’s body. The shorter brunette keeps her taller opponent occupied by picking away at every inch of exposed skin that she can legally hit, and Emily seemingly doesn’t know how to respond. DiDo is able to get some more extension in her arms to start actually launching punches rather than short blows into Amanda’s body, but the smaller girl is able to keep the tempo above what the bigger girl is used to from bell to bell. Cerny smiling as she goes back to her corner, winning the round on points, wide.

Round 2:

Both brunette girls get out of their corners quickly and Cerny moves in to start getting to DiDonato’s body. Amanda connects with a good right to Emily’s ribs straight off the bat, but the Sports Illustrated model answers with a right of her own that gets Cerny in the chin. Amanda drops back and Emily pushes forwards, being sure to always keep the smaller, faster girl right in front of her. DiDo throws out two fast jabs, the first bouncing off of Cerny’s guard and the second one making its way through to the other girl’s face. Amanda’s guard took the brunt of the blow and the smaller girl comes back at her opponent with a left to the chin, but DiDo takes the punch and absolutely thumps two powerful punches into Cerny’s body and now Emily is chasing Amanda around the ring for the remainder of the round, getting some solid jabs in before the bell. DiDo takes the round on points, wide.

Round 3:

Amanda Cerny is a bit more cautious coming out of the Holloway corner this round as Emily DiDonato comes charging out of the Fates corner and immediately starts working her jab. Cerny keeping her guard strong but DiDo chases Amanda around the ring using brute force to get punches through. Emily hammers away on Amanda’s guard and before dropping her focus to Cerny’s tummy, driving the air out of the other girl’s body and forcing her into the ropes. Cerny quickly wraps her arms around Emily and gets in a couple body shots, but the bigger girl has just enough freedom of motion in her arms to pound Cerny’s body and the smaller girl escapes from the ropes. Emily chases Amanda around the ring, firing off big punches and just simply trying to use her size and power to get an advantage. DiDo takes a big swing with her left as the round is ending and Cerny ducks the punch and connects with a right into Emily’s mouth. The SI model scowls as Cerny then goes to DiDonato’s body, but the bigger girl connects with a right jab that knocks Amanda backwards for a left hook that wobbles her as the bell rings. DiDonato takes the round on points for the second round in a row, and her gameplan is pretty obvious – use her extra size to win the fight. As for how Cerny will respond to DiDonato’s tactics is yet to be seen.

Round 4:

DiDo confident in her strategy as she charges out of her corner and once again starts throwing out big punches from beyond Cerny’s range, but the smaller girl has caught on. Amanda makes sure to force Emily to commit and then uses her speed and slightly smaller stature to get out of the way of the bigger girl’s punches and then go to her body. Cerny ducks a right and then goes to work on Em’s torso, pounding away at her body and throwing the occasional blow to the head. DiDonato trying to work from close range as well while keeping her guard up, but she just simply is getting jammed up, even when her punches are landing. DiDonato clinches with Cerny and after some struggling, the two girls push off from each other. After the break, Emily drops the pace down, anticipating Amanda’s movements and making contact with her jabs, but Amanda is still too slippery for the SI model to halt her and Cerny again gets back to Em’s body before the end of the round. Amanda Cerny wins the round on points, wide.

Round 5:

Cerny more at ease as she gets out of her corner to start the fifth and squares off against DiDonato. Amanda dives in to try and jam Emily again, but the SI model is ready for her this time and uncorks a left straight that splits Cerny’s guard and gets to her mouth. DiDo plunges a big right into Cerny’s gut and the smaller girl wobbles on her feet. Cerny keeps her arms up as DiDonato hammers away on her opponent guard and makes an opening. Emily throws a left hook that catches Amanda’s attention as she tries to pull her guard back together and then DiDo comes at her with a right straight to the jaw and Cerny is unsteady on her feet! Emily bears down on her opponent and Amanda takes a swipe at Emily, but the bigger girl takes the blow and then sends another right into Amanda’s jaw and this time Cerny hits the canvas. Emily is in a neutral corner and the ref starts counting over a blinking Amanda. Cerny picks her head up and shakes her head, but she makes it to all fours at nine and just isn’t able to beat the count. Your winner by KO5, Emily DiDonato!

After:

After losing last month to Adriana Lima, Emily DiDonato gets back on the winning track at the monthly PPV, not to mention dispatching Lima earlier this month. DiDonato takes her gloves off and waves to the crowd before going over to check on Cerny. Amanda is sitting up thanks to the help of her staff, and the two girls embrace and exchange a few pleasantries before Emily walks away, once again waving to the crowd before exiting the ring.

DiDonato keeps her remarks to the press brief, simply stating “Amanda is a great fighter, and she will be around for a while. I can guarantee that.”

When asked about a potential title shot, Emily merely laughs it off, “I think there are other girls who are ahead of me in line. My focus right now is just winning fights, regardless of whether or not it is for the title. Would it be nice? Yes. Do I expect it in January? No.”

With that, Emily leaves the press, leaving them all to wonder about whether a potential DiDonato-Swift all-Fates fight would ever happen, regardless of the title picture.
