Before the fight, all former Canadian champ and one-time FCBA darkhorse Sandrine Holt could talk about was Tricia Helfer: "She's copied my style, taken my moves and never once mentioned my name," Holt complained. "I'd love to fight her - to outbox her and outclass her. Anything she's done in the FCBA, I can do better." After the fight, a puffy and chagrined Sandrine was unavailable for comment, unexpectedly beaten by the unheralded, but scrappy and gangly Jen Finnigan.

If you like long limbs and awkward styles, gangly punches begging to be countered, and licking, lathering strokes - this fight was for you. Holt did indeed look like the brunette Tricia Helfer in there - sinuously circling her foe, weaving her torso up and down and almost caressing Jennifer with slicing punches. Finnigan, while not as fluid, was just as picturesque, lending a girly, almost apartment look to her upthrusting uppercuts or sweeping roundhouses, often with the off-hand negligent at her hip.

The fight was even after 6, and may very well have been won for Finnigan in a memorable 7th. Holt scored a clanging, slinging right cross to hurt Jennifer in the first minute and pounced upon the reeling blonde to finish her, but Finny was made of sterner stuff. Punching back small-glove sticky to Holt's sternum and midriff - Jennifer repulsed the brunette flurry in hot middle-minute trade, then proceeded to batter Sandrine pillar to post with a wildly effective walking barrage of winging lefts and rights. Frequently wrapping punches around Sandrine's shoulders or missing her altogether - Jennifer nevertheless succeeded in buckling Holt's knees and forcing the brunette to cover up helpless on the ropes. The curly-headed blonde had rallied, stealing Holt's best round of the fight and would not look back. The rest of the way was aggressive mop up - Finnigan on Holt - that would see Jennifer stalk and molest a sullen Sandrine to the finish line.

The Holt camp was quick to dismiss this result as mere rust, but it's another scrappy effort for Finnigan in an FCBA boxing ring. Jennifer doesn't have the classic efficiency you look for in a boxer - she's got the wildly extravagant lines of the converted apartment wrestler when she's slugging - but maybe there's something to this blonde gamin after all.
