Becky G vs. Vanessa Hudgens

Lots of anticipation for this Latinx battle of flyweights. Yes, Becky is far less accomplished than Hall of Famer and four-time champion Vanessa, but the beauty from Inglewood has shown plenty in her brief FCBA career. And, she's also showing confidence in the run-up to what's certainly the biggest fight of said career to this point. "Everybody thinks she's a sure winner," says Becky with a shake of the head. "Well. EVERYBODY is going to be surprised when I leave her on the canvas."

"Becky," says Vanessa with a flick of the wrist. "Is not in my LEAGUE. Of course. So few women ARE, which is why I end up fighting girls like this. But. Make no mistake. I'm not just going to beat her. I'm going to prove she doesn't belong in the ring with me by HUMILIATING her."

ROUND ONE:

'Nessa gets her box on. Becky isn't having any. She pours through a surprised Hudgens' guard and takes the fight right to her, banging away to head and body, backing up the former champion, then WOBBLING HER WITH A LEFT HOOK! Crowd going nuts as the sexy singer has the Hall of Famer on the ropes, literally and figuratively, just a minute into the fight. 'Nessa with the guard high, putting the body on sale. Becky BUYING. In BULK. Punishing the older woman's ribs, tummy, and then GOING RACK! Crowd on its FEET as the upstart indie PUNISHES the Hall of Fame blue blood. Hudgens tying up, but Becky shoves off, goes back to work, HURTS VANESSA AGAIN with a left hook! Ref looking in as Becky nears one of the biggest upsets in FCBA history. BELL. And, none too soon. Singer pushes up off a stunned Hudgens and stomps back to her corner up 10-9 after taking the first wide.

ROUND TWO:

Becky taking the fight to 'Nessa, swarming her, backing her up. Hudgens can't hold canvas, forced to retreat. She's making the singer pay a price, though a small one with solid counters, but, she can't solidify her front...until she can. About a minute in, the Hall of Famer begins holding ground and banging back. Becky keeps coming. Result? Firefight after firefight in the middle of the ring. Loads of hard shot flying around as the two brunettes look to establish control. Nobody does. Until, in the third minute, Vanessa begins getting her jab on and establishing distance. All of a sudden, she's got the younger woman at range and she's giving her a boxing lesson. Becky getting her face powdered by lefts and follow on rights and not liking it at all. But, she can't do anything about it right to the bell. When it rings, it's close, but Becky's early aggression earns her the points and the 20-18 lead.

ROUND THREE:

NOW 'Nessa's got it going, and she's working it. She's moving, sticking with that jab, following with hard right hands, forcing the singer to cover up, then moving again before Becky can counter. Singer trying to pressure again and again, but she can't get it done. Hudgens too quick and too slick, ranging around the ring, showing the form that's made her both a champion and a Hall of Famer. Becky's frustration growing as she tries to get to her spots but fails again and again. 'Nessa enjoying this, sitting down on punches here and there to pile up some hurt and pay her rival back for the rack work in the first. By the end of the round, Hudgens is dialed completely in, backing up Becky again and again with hard flurries to the head and working a little body as well. At the bell, it's 'Nessa wide and Becky's lead is down to 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

'Nessa ranging around the ring, using the legs and the jab, stopping Becky's advances again and again, leaving her hanging, where Hudgens can punish her. Becky game, working hard, but unable to find any solutions to...BOOM! Right hook, BECKY G! Becky finally slips the jab steps in, and HURTS VANESSA! Hudgens all wobbly butt and then DROPPED BY A STRAIGHT RIGHT HAND! Becky, arms raised in triumph, to a neutral corner. Crowd going insane. Hudgens stunned in a sitting position as the referee counts down at her. Doesn't seem to realize what's happening until, finally, at the last second, she pushes to her feet, juuuusssttt beating the count. Ref watching carefully during the mandatory then waiving Becky on. Singer all OVER 'Nessa, pummeling her to head, body, rack, driving her to the ropes and PUNISHING every legal inch of her body right to the bell. 10-8 for Becky, who's now up 39-36.

ROUND FIVE:

Becky a house afire as we start the fifth, throwing everything she has at 'Nessa trying to end this thing. Hudgens goes to the ropes in a high guard and begins working the counter. This is Britney/Frege stuff from Vanessa, who's playing her rival's aggression against her, blocking, slipping, then countering with accurate shot. The sheer volume coming from Becky means plenty of leather is getting through, but 'Nessa's doing just as much with her well-placed counters. Third minute sees Hudgens, legs now back, work off the ropes to mid-ring and begin the stick and move. Becky again working forward trying to bring the older woman to battle, but Vanessa's now able to get the jab on and the distance she wants, controlling the final minute and taking the round close to cut the younger woman's lead to 48-46.

ROUND SIX:

Becky upping the ante. She's not going to try to box with 'Nessa, which is, of course, a very wise decision. She's working hard to pressure, eating the odd right hand for her troubles, but managing to get to spots and get off, landing some hard shot. It's a good, two-way round, with Hudgens in control at range and Becky doing better in close. BOOM! Becky EATS A RIGHT HAND AND SHE'S HURT! Singer stumbles backward into the ropes and Hudgens pounces, winging away with both hands, rocking the younger woman along the cables. Ref on high alert but DOWN GOES BECKY! Short right hook from 'Nessa sends the singer crashing to her right side parallel to the ropes. Hudgens slowly walks to a neutral corner, knowing what she's done. Becky manages only to push to hands and knees and grab the bottom rope before the count passes her by. It's OVER! And your winner by KO6 is Vanessa Hudgens!

AFTER:

'Nessa dismissive in the post-fight. "Yeah, she landed a lucky punch. So what? I got up and kicked her a**, which is exactly what I said I'd do. She's not in my league, and I just proved it."
