Results: Lookout!; Story: Caspian & The Dollhouse

BEFORE:
Lauren Mayberry enters the room with a coy smile and small wave to the assembled crowd, before taking her place at the table on stage. She responds to the reporter's questions well enough, though she’s noticeably animated when it comes time to talk about her opponent tonight.

"I know Anna has been on a long losing streak these last couple of years, but she's a f*cking former CHAMPION, with four times the experience I have. So, needless to say, beating her would be a huge accomplishment for me, and I'm taking this fight VERY seriously. And I'm sure she sees me as an opportunity to end her losing streak as well, though I won’t allow that to happen under my watch!" Lauren says with a chuckle.

Anna Kendrick is her veteran opponent in tonight’s contest, smiling politely from the opposite end of the table before taking her turn at the mic:

“I must say, Lauren’s done a lot to impress me in her brief career. Defeating Madison Pettis and Rachel Bilson could not have been easy for a young up-and-comer in the league. Though I will say she hasn’t been tested by a former champion yet. I’m eager and willing to be her litmus test tonight, so I say bring it, babe, cos’ you’re gonna need all the luck you have!”

Ladies meet at the center of the stage and it’s a cordial affair: Lauren coming in two inches shorter but both girls equally lean and fit, will rely on their speed to dictate terms later on in the ring. For now, both women shake hands in mutual respect before they’re led backstage for the final preparations.

Fireworks burst onto the scene first to announce Mayberry’s entrance to the arena, silver sparklers twirling on stage as the Scottish singer emerges in her Dollhouse old-pink sports bra and black boxing trunks. Her hair is pulled back into a neat ponytail, actually matching Anna’s own get-up during her entrance later on: Anna’s wearing a blue sports bra and black bikini briefs, showing off her toned figure as she bunches together dark grey gloves and waves to the fans.

We’re soon in the ring and both ladies are all set in their corners for ten rounds of Flyweight action! Referee waves his hands and HERE we go with the bell!

ROUND 1:
Lauren’s all about her defenses early as she takes the fight to Anna slow and steady, moving as fast as she can on her little legs whilst taking occasion shots at Anna’s face . Anna on the other hand is moving a little more traditionally, firing punches in Lauren’s direction whilst moving in a straight line towards her. But the smaller Scott doesn't want to hang around and bang at all, skirts the periphery of the ropes and then jabs when the opening is right. Anna’s getting flummoxed as a result, doesn't know whether to rush in and go all out for the singer, or hang back and reevaluate. Result is Mayberry runs away with points, scores repeatedly on the actress' face and arms. Round 1 goes to the Doll wide but we wouldn't write Kendrick off just yet, with the very first round traditionally spent as a testing ground for the fighters.

ROUND 2:
And there's the spark we’ve been waiting for in the former champion, who scores hard on Mayberry's arms with a heavy slam straight to the center of her guard. Mayberry lets out a loud yelp as she's momentarily pushed back, but Anna gives chase and manages to snag her further on the face before the Doll gets out of range. Mayberry slightly flustered, goes back to turtling up at a distance, with Anna scoring more body shots before a fast exchange in the center space has Lauren swinging back as well like a cornered ferret. Some pain inflicted on both sides, with Anna perhaps biting off more than she can chew as she’s rooted to the spot herself after taking a heartful stuffing of leather to the mouth, whilst Lauren scampers away and out of danger.

ROUND 3:
Lesson learned for Lauren, who looks even more focused as she tries to keep at range and only hit back when it's convenient. Anna tries even harder to land her punches as she chases after her, but fails to land anything significant for the first minute. Mayberry takes another combo on the arms but this time, she knows a bit better what to expect, succeeds in battering Anna back on the nose as the two girls exchange more barbs for a good thirty seconds. But it’s clear who’s getting the better of the duel when Anna staggers back from the throbbing pain that’s accumulated from each punch landed. Lauren may not pack much power in each of her punches, but add them up quickly and even then, you’re gonna get a former champion in full retreat by the end of the round.

ROUND 4:
Anna however adapts quickly to the young singer’s tactics, keeps her guard firm and intact for the first minute, not moving as much as Lauren but playing to her greater experience and confidence to negate the damage of the Doll’s punches. Case in point: Lauren is still slamming jabs into her arms, but they’re not about to score a knockdown or win any awards at this rate. Instead, Anna takes the fight to her foe later on, a counter-smash straight to the nostrils means Lauren’s stunned, her eyes going wide and lips pouting in shock. She has mere moments to react before another of Kendrick’s dreaded fast combos come sailing in, and thankfully this time, they hit the smaller girl’s guard instead. Not a good round for the Doll overall, who finds herself in a see-saw tug-of-war for points this early in the contest with a much more experienced fighter.

ROUND 5:
Anna’s fighting as though she’s got Mayberry all figured out, sticking to the same strategy as before of taking and absorbing her attacks before dishing out a ton more to outbox Mayberry in terms of overall power and scale. Mayberry’s in dangerous territory early as she opens with more aggressive, taking some pot-shots at Kendrick’s body but then takes a return cross straight to the lips, then another hook clipping her across the chin. She doesn’t realise this strategy ain’t viable in the long-run, until Anna lands another stiff punch across her face, sending her stumbling off to the side! UGHH! Mayberry covering and ducking, but a little too late an effort to outrun the former champ... Anna crowding in, smelling blood, swinging hard at the Doll’s arms, thrashing the poor girl left and right. Mayberry just can’t compete with her opponent’s power in close quarters, gets sent down to her side when Kendrick smacks her hard on the ear! AND DOWN MAYBERRY GOES, hitting the ground with a loud grunt!

It’s a KNOCKDOWN for Ms Kendrick, who hovers over for a moment, just catching her breath, but then nods down at Mayberry as if this were a foregone conclusion. Indeed, Lauren is having some trouble getting back up as quickly as she’d like, that look of painful concentration on her face has her features all scrunched up as she tries to push her body off the ground, but something tells us she’s too groggy to even get off her knees later on. As predicted, she collapses back down to canvas as the referee hits the 10-count! It’s all over!

Official Decision: Anna Kendrick defeats Lauren Mayberry via KO5!

AFTER:
Bad news bears for Ms Mayberry, who was on track to have a wonderful 2020 only to have her party spoiled by a former Flyweight champion. Anna looks ecstatic by contrast, breaking into a grin as she lifts her hands high to the sound of her name being announced over the loudspeakers.

Kendrick allows medics and the Dollhouse crew to cater to Ms Mayberry’s unfortunate predicament and injuries, whilst she herself returns to her corner to receive a multitude of hugs, kisses and congratulations all around for breaking her long-standing losing streak.

Later on, Anna speaks to reporters outside the ring – “Wow! It feels amazing to win again…it’s certainly been a while!” she giggles. “Lauren put up a good fight but she’s pretty fragile…I knew she’d go down the moment I amp up the intensity…I’m just glad I was right!” she winks, turning around to wave and thank her fans before making her victory walk towards the backstage area, leaving Mayberry and the Dollhouse team with some hard thinking to do going forward after a very disappointing loss for the petite singer.
