Brie Larson vs. Elodie Frege
(Results: Lookout. Words: Wiz)

BEFORE:

Paper mismatch features top bantam contender Larson against Elodie, who's won ONE FCBA fight in the last five years. But, lest we forget, Frege is a girl who's often given top fighters fits, and she does have a win over champ Elizabeth Olsen. Of course, she's also got a fight with Larson on her record, and that one did not go well, with Brie stopping Frege in four. The French beauty, however, is, as always, not cowed by any of that. "I can beat her," Frege says confidently. "I was winning that first fight. I just wasn't able to finish. This time, I will."

"She's no joke," Brie admits. "She's difficult to deal with in there. But I KNOW how to deal with her. And I will."

ROUND ONE:

Lessons from the first fight go right out the window. Because, unlike in the 2017 contest, Frege goes right to the pocket. And, Brie gets sucked in. After spending almost the entire first fight being taken to the woodshed by the more-experienced Frenchwoman, Larson goers right to the offensive this time. Which, of course, is EXACTLY what Frege wants. Elodie's on the ropes, blocking, slipping, countering. And, Brie may not realize it, but she's getting taken to the woodshed. For every blow the American lands, the French beauty is landing three or four. Larson's not getting hurt, but she's absolutely getting touched up in a big way, all while ignoring her corner, which is pleading for her to slow down, as her onslaught is opening up the exact counters Elodie wants. At the bell, it's not close. It's Frege who takes the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

Elodie out of the pocket and on the move. Now, the Frenchwoman is looking to recreate what she did in the first fight. Yeah. That's not going to work. This is a FAR more experienced Brie Larson, and, if you're going to try to box with her, well, you've got your work cut out for you. The American takes control almost immediately, beating the older woman to punches, preempting her with suppressive fire, and generally giving her the exact kind of beating Elodie dished out to Brie in the first. Frege has her moments, mind, almost completely in the counter. And, by the end of the round, she's back in the pocket, where she's able to do much better. But, it's far too little, far too late for the second. When the bell rings, it's Larson's round wide and Brie has evened things at 19.

ROUND THREE:

Frege in the pocket. Larson more reserved this time, trying to limit the opportunities for counters. Doesn't work. She's not getting enough done, spending too much time moving the head, feinting, trying to create openings in the rock-solid Frenchwoman's defenses. Result is that Frege's scoring off the lead as much as she is off the counter, and, when Larson tries to fire back, Elodie's able to block or slip...and then counter effectively. Frustration building for the American as the round goes on, to the point where she might be wondering what management was thinking here. She's game, but, she can't penetrate Elodie's pocket defenses, and, when the bell rings, she stomps angrily back to her corner as Frege bounces smiling to hers, making it obvious to everyone who's taken the round wide to lead 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

Elodie back to the pocket. Brie trying to find a middle ground here, between "too aggressive" and "not aggressive enough", and she seems to be doing that. This is the best the American's managed against a pocketed Frege...but, it's still not quite enough, Through the first minute and a half of the proceedings, while Larson is scoring, Elodie's still getting the better of thi...BOOM! Right hand, LARSON! Brie wobbles the French beauty with a NASTY straight right! And, now Larson is ALL IN. Brie wining away with both hands, PUNISHING Frege, looking to get her out of there. Elodie hanging on, guard high, as the ref looks in and DOWN SHE GOES! Right hook, Larson and Frege is spilled onto her right side parallel to the ropes! Brie to a neutral corner. Elodie struggling to hands and knees at seven, begins pulling herself up on the ropes...BUT CAN'T BEAT THE COUNT! Elodie still climbing as the count passes her by and it's OVER! And your winner by KO4 is Brie Larson!

AFTER:

"Never again," says the American with a smile. "She is just a pain in the a** to fight! Put me in there with anybody. I'll go after Chopra or Olsen, Thorne or Kosarin, hell, put me in with RIGHETTI, but do NOT sign me to fight this girl again! Twice is enough for one lifetime. MORE than enough."
