Before: “What I like about Cougar Boxing is that I get to revisit fighter I only fought once in earlier days. Jen Connelly is one of those. I bet her back in 2003. I welcome the chance to do it again.”

‘I wouldn’t be so sure of winning this time,” Jen Connelly says coolly. “One of the reasons I like cougar bouts is the chance to set my record right: balance that loss with a win,”

“Or end up with two losses—just saying,” Jen G said innocently.

“You say a lot, don’t you?” Jen C snapped.

“And it’s all true,” Jennifer Garner said serenely.

Jennifer Connelly scowled: “I knew there was a reason I wanted to knock your block off. Thanks for reminding me.”

“My pleasure,:” purred Jennifer Garner.

The two fighters meet again in the ring for their bout. Jennifer Connelly is in a navy blye bikini with sea green boots and gloves with gold laces. Hair is pulled back in a sturdy bun on the nape of her neck. Jennifer Garner is in a dark red bikini with black boots and gloves (red laces). Hair in a single battle braid. Chilly atmosphere between the two Jennifers, but they are professional enough to get through the ring instructions. A mean-spirited glove “tap” (looks more like a Test of Strength as they stand grinding glove against glove until referee breaks it up). The bell rings.

R1: Jen G on the attack early and often. She’s pumping quick shots at Jen C head and body as she moves around. Connelly having some trouble getting her punches to land with power on the evasive Garner. Jen G then bangs Jen C with hard right to the jaw and clipping left to the chin. Connelly falling back, trying to organize herself but Garner working Connelly’s midsection. Jen C getting some answering counters to Garner’s ribs. Garner circling and raking Cnnelly’s side ribs, Round ends and Jennifer Garner has won the round wide.

R2: Out they come again and this time Jennifer Connelly has Jennifer Garner targeted. Smacking blows bust up Garner to the face and head. Jen G falling back and countering to Jen C’s rib cage, Connelly shifting around now banging rights and lefts off Garner’s head. Garner falls back and Connelly snaps hooks into belly. Garner doubled up and now Connelly lifts punches into Jen G’s overhanging upper body. Garner scrambling away, trying to protect herself with the jab as Connelly presses her hard to the bell. Jennifer Connelly wins this one wide.

R3: Garner not very happy with that last round and is giving Connelly fierce looks during the break. (Connelly pretends not to notice, but can’t resist smiling at her opponent’s displeasure.) The bell sounds and Connelly is out of her corner like a shot. Garner caught by surprise as the blitz attack drives her back into own corner. Jen G hit hard to the face, jaw and body as she finally wraps her arms around Connelly to force a break. However Jen C quickly resumes the attack as Jen G finally just bulls her way clear of her own corner. Fight quickly resumes in the middle of the ring as Connelly gets to Garner’s jaw with solid shot that sends Jen G reeling back. Connelly driving Garner into the ropes and working her over as Jen G tries to protect her head and face. Nightmare round for Garner finally ends at the bell and Connelly books a shutout round.

R4: Jen Garner cleaned up by the Foxfire corner crew and comes with her eyes glinting with determination. Jen Connelly looks determined to finish the jab she started in R3. Connelly goes to Garner’s body, but then Garner smashes a right that catches Connelly between the eyes. Connelly now back on her heels as Garner goes at her body hard. Connelly swings away, but then returns to the battle. Now the two of them are toe to toe, elbows moving in and outlike piston rods as they hammer each others ribs, breasts and stomach. Garner really leaning in and she is pushing Connelly back step by step. Rounds ends with both fighters dripping sweat and breathing hard. It’s a close one, but Jennifer Garner wins it narrowly.

R5: Connelly trying to answer Garner’s winning the last round with fierce attack to the body. Jen G fights back with answering body blows of her own. They are not so much toe to toe as moving in and out against each other. This creates a sort of rhythm between the two, but then Garner feints another series of body hooks, but instead, brings uppercuts crashing into Connelly’s chin. Connelly goes stumbling back as Garner adds smashing rights and lefts to the jaw, Jennifer Connelly crashes onto her back and lies with her arms outflung. Jennifer Garner trots to the neutral corners with interest as the referee counts over the fallen Jennifer Connelly. Jen C moving her arms and legs, but that’s all she seems able to do as the count mounts relentless.

“EIGHT!...NINE!...TEN!...YOU ARE OUT!”

THE WINNER JENNIFER GARNER DEFEATS JENNIFER CONNELLY KO5!

After: “She couldn’t beat me the first time and she couldn’t beat me now. Story closed,” Jennifer Garner says coldly as she watches her groggy opponent being helped from the ring. “I have to say I am really enjoying Cougar bouts. I wonder who I might fight next. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.”

No immediate response to the bout from Jennifer Connelly. “She’s not at all happy,” confides a GBS source, “she didn’t much like Jennifer Garner before this fight. She likes her even less now.”

The hard feelings left by the contest aside, cougar fans got a very lively, hard punching contest. It actually looked quite even going into R5 with both Garner and Connelly having their moments in the first four rounds. However it was Jennifer Garner who was able to land the KO punches that enabled her to out Jennifer Connelly down for the 10-count. Good effort from both cougars and fans will no doubt be looking forward to their future bouts.
