BREC BASSINGER VS JANEL PARRISH

Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Brec: 20 YO, 5’2 (1.57 m), FCBA Debut, Holloway Boxing

Janel: 30 YO, 5’2 (1.57 m), 2-9-0, 1 KO, Pretty Little Punchers Inc.

Before: “Of course I am excited at making my FCBA Debut,” says blonde actress Brec Bassinger “But I come from the Nickelodeon gym. Maybe not as publicized as the Disney outfit, but I’ve been trained in the basics. Now those basics have been polished by Holloway Boxing. I am eager to show what I can do and become a productive member of the team. Winning my first fight is so very important to me. If motivation makes the difference in who wins or loses, I have plenty of motivation to spare!”

Says Janel Parrish: “I see my job here as being as a ‘Gatekeeper’. Not every girl who wants to belongs in the FCBA. If Brec here wants in, she’s going to have to get by me. Milana Vayntrub tried it and lost. I really think this is my proper role: making it hard on rookies.”

“Well, this is one rookie who not afraid of you,” Brec informs Janel. “I’m going through the Gat if I have to do it over your knocked out and bleeding body!”

“Scary talk, young lady, just be sure you can back that up,” Janel retorts coldly,

“Oh, I can, just you wait and see,” Brec replies confidently.

Fight night finds Brec Bassinger coming to the ring in a red bikini with black gloves and boots with red laces. Her blonde hair is pulled back in a ponytail with a red ribbon. Janel Parrish has opted for a white bikini trimmed in black with white gloves and boots (black laces). She has her dark hair in a single French braid down her back. Brec looking a bit nervous, fidgeting in place during the ring instructions as Janel gives her a disdainful look. Instructions finally done, the gloves are tapped and the fighters back in the corners. The bell rings.

R1: Janel crowds in on young Brec, driving hard punches into the blonde rookie’s body and pushing her back in the opening moments of the round. Brec fights back with jabs into Janel’s body and manages to stabilize herself behind her counters. Janel then circles around Brec, trying to draw her off-balance and having some success at this against the newcomer. Brec smacked hard to the face, but keeps jabbing back and gets some nice ones into Janel’s face to sting the veteran. Janel then moves forward again, going to the stomach with her first punches, but then trying for the jaw and she does manage to knock Brec back a few steps. Brec then rallies again behind her jab and trades some sharp breast shots with Janel as the round ends. Judges give the round to Janel Parrish, but Brec Bassinger made a narrow win.

R2: Janel back on the attack in close, but Janel is fighting back hard. Both now circling and punching away as they do. Shots mostly to the ribs and belly, but the two do trade jaw shots and Janel recoils from the hard smack she takes from Brec. Brec now move forward, firing away at Janel to the head. Janel trying to evade these, but still gets her noggin knocked as Brec’s shots bounce off. Janel counters with a flurry against Brec’s chest. Brec gives Janel a dose of jugg jolting counter punching as they battle down to the bell. It’s close again, but this time the judges rule in favor of Brec Bassinger who takes her first FCBA round.

R3: Brec showing confidence attacks Janel at the outset of the new round. It’s a just the ol’ one-two to the chin, but Brec executes the combo well and sends Janel reeling back with bells ringing in her head. Brec shows good follow up as she flicks a quick right uppercut into Janel’s chin to keep the veteran in retreat. Janel gets her gloves up to her face and tries to discourage Brec with jabs to the face. Brec shifts her feet and goes after Janel to the body. Janel hooked hard to the belly and Brec soon has Janel all hunched up from the impacts. Brec seems to be trying to work Janel into the ropes, but can’t quite manage it before time runs out,

R4: Brec eagerly comes at Janel once again, but this time she eats smashing right to the jaw that sends the rookie spinning away. Janel moves in on the dazed Brec and pounds a flurry of nasty jabs into the young blonde’s face. Brec floundering backwards, gloves up around her face and giving Janel an open invitation to work to the body. Janel more than happy to thoroughly scrub Brec’ s midsection while trying to push the stunned blonde into the ropes. However Brec surprises Janel by wrapping her up in a clinch. Referee breaks it up (Janel sneaks a quick shot or two into Brec’s belly in the process). Brec struggling to regain her senses able to drive countering jabs into Janel’s face to stall her attack. Janel and Brec now circle. Janel firing away to the body and Brec is backing up again, but away from the ropes. Rounds ends with Brec under pressure, but looking steady on her legs. Janel wins round wide and leaves Brec with a busted up face marked by red and swollen patches, though Brec looks more irked than intimidated at getting worked over by the veteran brunette.

R5: Janel trying to storm Brec’s defenses, but the blonde rookie holds up well under fire this time. Sharp exchange of jabs to the head, then down to the breasts and then hooks to the midsection. Both fighters starting to bob and weave as they circle each other. Janel presses in again with a quick lunge to bring a right uppercut into Brec’s chin, but Brec dodges the shot and brings her own right uppercut into Janel’s chin with power. BAM! DOWN GOES JANEL PARRISH. Chin shot connects beautifully for Brec and Janel crashes onto her side. Brec looks down in glee at her first opponent sprawled at her feet. Referee has to remind the kid to get neutral corner. Brec scampers away. Janel has been given extra seconds to recover, but she is still slow to rise and beats the count at “EIGHT!” Janel loudly insisting to uncertain official that she can go. Ref gives Janel her way and waves Brec back in. Brec immediately on Janel and driving her into the ropes. Janel sluggish, but does manage to slide along the strands in a desperate attempt to avoid being pinned. Then Brec now in a punching frenzy as she overwhelms Janel’s defenses and starts punching her head from side to side. Ringsiders screaming for referee to stop the it! AND THE REF JUMPS IN! Official cradles Janel to safety as Brec Bassinger raises her arms in triumph! She has won her debut fight!

THE WINNER BREC BASSINGER DEFEATS JANEL PARRISH TKO5!

After: “Oh, that felt so GOOD!” cries the exultant Brec to reporters following the bout. “Parrish gave me plenty of trouble, my face is going to be a mess in the morning, but it doesn’t matter. I took all she had and still beat her down! I feel like taking on Hayden Panettiere or Lucy Hale or Natalie Portman! Well, maybe I am not quite ready for them, but I proved I belong in this fed and I have to thank Holloway Boxing for taking a chance on me!”

As for Janel Parrish, she speaks to Archer News reporter Skip Tracey the next day: “The kid is good, no doubt of that. She stood up to punishment and then came back to finish me off. She’s got a fighting heart, I’ll say that. My plans? Well, that desk job at PLP is starting to look better and better, but, you know there are always new flyweights coming in. Who knows? Maybe I’ll be the one to see what they’re made of like Brec”

It never hurts to win your first fight in the FCBA. It gets you over a psychological hurdle, but, as any rookie soon finds out, there are plenty more hurdles ahead. It will be interesting to see if Brec Bassinger does against those. She did show she can absorb punishment and knows how to win. Now the question is if she can develop those basics to reach Contender status. It could be a long way off, but it helps to have a goal. Meanwhile, Janel Parrish must be disappointed in the defeat, but it does point that she could, indeed find a niche as a Gatekeeper. There is always a need for such fighters and Janel might fill it for the Puncher organization. In any case, it was a lively debut fight and rookie flyweight fans will no doubt be looking forward to seeing what Brec can accomplish in her future fights.
