BEFORE: "Jessica Lowndes says hi!", Selena Gomez is quick to remind everyone that Kristin Kreuk was snubbed from the upcoming Canada Day PPV but a chance to beat up another member of the Lioness Club of America on regular PPV duty is more than enough to make the Vancouver native so ready for tonight's challenge. She gives the Latin babe a classic death stare and claims "bantamweight is your future, fat ass" which doesn't sit well in Gomey's camp given her weight issues over the past several months: "You stupid cow, time to retire your Canadian ass once and for all!"

Both girls refuse to touch gloves before the fight and there's an awkward feeling in the ring with the rumours of Chloe Moretz joining forces with the Lionesses suddenly making Selena look vulnerable on that roster: "No frickin' comments!", coach Eva Mendes fends off the media buzz and gives her protegee a solid slap on the face to make sure she's ready for the classic HISC war of attrition: You know this isn't a damn free agent despite her record. You have to win big or else..."

Round 1:

Younger brunette gets it all in the early going as a well-measured hook catches Kristin on the nose and sets up a nasty drive from both flanks that bounces off the Canadian's face and reels her on the spot. Selena huffin' & puffin' in her jabbing stance renders Kristin's guard obsolete and backs her into the ropes before some late-arriving fans could even find their seat. Kreuk forced into a turtle-like defense while Selena bangs 'em in good & hard to secure a pillar-to-post beating in the process. That's why Krissy isn't an immediate threat for the elite group but this is still a matter of pride getting your ass kicked by the proverbial LCA Beta operator. Ugh! Not even the clinch works but Selena picks up some wrist discomfort when she bounces off the top of her rival's forehead which slows her quest for a rare KO1 result! And then Kreuk finally clinches her to run out the clock!

Round 2:

Krissy's up for the slugging tricks while Selena remains uneasy with the apparent wrist injury as she allows the veteran to bounce through her guard during the opening minute. Both girls trade fancy punches but Gomey's intensity from the opening round is gone and the slowish pace of the exchanges works in the Canadian's favor. However Kreuk still lacks the big punch to take full advantage of these circumstances and reverts into single-strike control that still makes Selena look fairly agile on her feet while working the avoidance magic. Eva Mendes looks upset though as Selena complains about the wrist pain during the interval and this is unlikely to go away before the fight is over!

Round 3:

Selena loops promising punches from mid-range but keeps favoring the left hand and Krissy ducks from the inside the clean out some Latin tummy before bumping the fellow brunette off with an uppercut drive. Gomez enjoys the reach advantage but she's forced into the mid-distance plan which helps the Canadian on the long run as the slugging route is best suited to drain Krissy from her energy. The back & forth dispute allows the veteran to settle in and she punches too much midriff to struggle for success before another quick uppercut sends the younger girl reeling. Another quick hook on the nose and Gomey sinks on the ropes with a whimper before Krissy nails her across the nose and digs deep into her breadbasket to extend her advantage in the closing seconds.

Round 4:

Krissy piles more midsection pressure as she mounts a close range rally to punish the most vunerable target.... and Selena folds underneath the tummy assault as she bounces her chin off the Canadian's shoulder and eats a bump & grind stuff downstairs like Krissy's been watching some JMD tapes lately. All goes in and leaves the Latin babe HURT!!! How about that for a Canada Day PPV snub? Kreuk reigns supreme punching Selena's guts into a mush but she puts her away when she adds the classic uppercut one-two that Gomez never saw coming... Enter jelly knees mode and Krissy BELTS her in the gut one time too many... DOWN GOES GOMEY!!! Ugh! She leans forward and bends her head against the canvas while hugging her guts but she beats the count at seven even though Kreuk is seething with KO menace... the supreme footwork saves Selena from instant disaster but she backpedals so much around the ropes even the crowd dislikes it with the Canadian veteran shouting at her to show some... Bell comes to the Lioness rescue and just to keep up with the media buzz, what is Chloe Moretz doing right now?

Round 5:

Krissy pounce on the loose as Selena shows no intentions of slugging herself back in the fray! Alas the shear speed is still on the seemingly spooked girl's side so the Canadian vet can do little about it no matter how loud she gets in her prowl. Selena is not trying to lure her into a trap according to most pundits but you just never know as she still keeps the charging woman at bay thru supreme reach. Single punches bounce off the forearms too much along the way but Krissy is no Mishy so she CANNOT punish the wounded prey here and begins to lose her temper. Just land that frickin' punch, gurl! Nope, ain't gonna happen. What's worse, Kreuk needs a lenghty breather as she's paid a big price to build such a lead on the cards but the HISC camp still looks confident as Gomey keeps arguing with Eva Mendes and shows all the bad signs of looking like a spend force at half-distance.

Round 6:

Krissy wants to take it easy and set up the winning KO run but she gets tagged with a rare flurry of Gomey leather who rips a left cross on the nose that wobbles the Canadian veteran outright. Ugh! Screams of pain from both sides but the Latin just wrenches another hook into Kreuk's chin and folds her high guard aside before another uppercut one-two leaves the older brunette vulnerable. Left hand is compromised so Selena drills her right from the inside and catches Kreuk's winpipe as much as the chin before a left hook sinks in the liver and chops the Canadian in half. Ugh! Krissy drops her right arm right around the aching spot and injured wrist or not Selena just SMOKES her with a left hook on the jaw that SENDS KREUK CRASHING DOWN ON HER BACK!!! Ugh! She spits out the gumshield as the trigger-happy ref starts the ultra-fast count! Oh, hello! Who's in your corner, babe? Kreuk hugs her chun & the liver as she tries to fend off the looming disaster and she's up at nine.. yeah, she's up! Or is she? She wobbles back to the ropes and wants more time to recover but she is given none! REF HALTS THE BOUT!!! Say whaaat??? TKO6 Selena Gomez!!!

AFTER: Krissy is furious with the decision at first but groans out in pain and needs more rope assistance in order to stay upright! Meanwhile Selena is in tears and those are not tears of joy as Eva Mendes is quick to rush her back to the medical staff as the LCA camp fears it's a broken wrist here. She sustained that knock back in the opening round already and it doesn't get any better as Selena can't truly enjoy this hard-fought victory where she was behind on cards for majority of the bout. Uh-oh! Cue in more Chloe Moretz rumours as Gomey's left wrist is wrapped in a ice-cold towel and the ref has to raise her right arm which causes a brief confusion when the verdict is announced. No official word on this injury on PPV night but it seems like Selena just can't catch that Alpha break even in victory lately... watch this space though!
