Kylie Jenner vs. Laura Vandervoort

BEFORE:

"I have no idea," says Kylie with a shake of the head, "Why my management would book me against this HAS-BEEN. Here I am going out and knocking out girls like Upton and they book me against a fighter who hasn't won a big fight since Ben Franklin was president! Well. Whatever. I'll just go out there and knock her out in one and maybe we'll all learn a lesson from this."

"I wonder," says Laura with a little smile, "How Kylie's going to handle it when someone doesn't just stand in front of her and slug. Well. We're about to find out. Spoiler alert. The little brat ISN'T going to like it."

ROUND ONE:

Kylie after Laura immediately, backing the blonde up with heavy shot, tossing her onto the defensive. Vandervoort respecting her rival's power, giving ground, keeping the guard high, countering in spots, but the fighting retreat is still a retreat, and there's nothing that plays better into Jenner's strengths, save, perhaps a girl standing flat-footed in front of her, than having an opponent in retreat on her back foot. The blonde's a crafty veteran, so she avoids any serious damage, but there's no doubt Kylie's getting heavy leather on target, piling up both points and punishment as Laura can't manage to get out of reverse. Final thirty seconds see Jenner teeing off on the blonde, clearly trying to make that first round KO prediction come true. It doesn't. But, at the bell, there's no doubt Kylie's taken it wide to move into the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

Kylie forward again, but, this time, Laura's not there. Blonde's gotten the lay of the land now, and she's able to get off center, forcing Kylie to turn. And, when the brunette does it, she's EATING heavy shot from the blonde. Jenner keeps pouring forward, but she's walking right into whatever Vandervoort wants to throw at her. Shot after shot is landing, stopping Jenner, even backing her up a couple of times, but, still Kylie attacks. And, Laura's juuuusssttt fine with that. Blonde is more than willing to to play matador to her rival's bull, especially as Jenner keeps charging despite shouts from her corner to slow down and move her head and feet. Final seconds of the round see Laura V LIGHT UP Kylie a NASTY combination that forces Jenner to cover up at the bell. When it rings, Laura's taken the points wide and evened things at 19.

ROUND THREE:

Jenner slowing down a bit, at the urging of her corner. She's still looking to come forward, pressure the blonde, but, now she's being much more sound, keeping the hands up, moving the feet and head, making herself less of a target for Laura. Vandervoort, however, continues finding said target from range, scoring with both hands. But, Jenner's able to cut her off and force some heavy trades, and, that, of course, plays to the younger woman's strengths. It goes like that. Laura in control when she can keep Jenner at range, Kylie having the better of it when she can step to Vandervoort and get physical, and, as both fighters are able to get some, but not all, of what they want, we end up with a two-way round that's close throughout. At the bell? Laura narrowly, putting the blonde up 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

Same again. Vandervoort using all her veteran wiles to slow down the aggressive younger fighter, and doing it very well. But, the brunette's aggression is more than a little effective. When she can square Laura and back her up, well. It's a dangerous situation for the blonde. She can't slug with Kylie and the power shots Laura lands aren't enough to deter Jenner. So, Vandervoort has to use the feet and the jab and geometry to get the range she wants and keep Jenner at bay. Sometimes she can. At other times, she can't. And, the result is, once again, a two-way round in which both fighters have their moments, with neither able to impose will. When the bell rings, it's, again, a near thing, but, for the third round in a row, it's Laura, who extends her edge to 39-37.

ROUND FIVE:

More two-way stuff. Laura doubling that jab, moving the feet, working hard to stay off square, box from range. Kylie effectively aggressive, pressuring, crowding, ROCKING LAURA WITH A RIGHT HOOK! BIG shot from Kylie sends the veteran blonde STEPPIN' IN FENCE POST HOLES! Jenner letting the hands go now, but getting sloppy doing it. She's winging away, backing up Laura, but mostly landing on the gloves and shoulders and missing. She's getting SOME leather home, and it's enough to trap Vandervoort against the ropes and keep the referee's attention, but, Jenner's not getting piling up the points or the hurt like she wants to. Still, the brunette keeps the blonde on the ropes to the bell and grabs the points wide, cutting Laura's lead to 48-47.

ROUND SIX:

Jenner pouring forward. Vandervoort doesn't have the legs all the way back, and that's making her an easier target. But, again, Kylie a little too sloppy, missing too much, opening herself up for solid counters from the blonde and burning a ton of energy on punches that bounce off gloves or shoulders or miss entirely. Laura managing well, getting stronger as the round goes on. BOOM! RIGHT HAND, JENNER and DOWN GOES LAURA! A BLISTERING right hand from Kylie and Vandervoort blown to her back. Jenner doesn't rush to a neutral corner, instead raising her arms in victory over her fallen victim until the ref forcefully points her to a corner. Laura, eyes fluttering, staring up as the ref counts down. Blonde gamely tries to sit up, but manages only to get to elbow and haunch before the count passes her by. It's OVER! And your winner by KO6 is Kylie Jenner!

AFTER:

Kylie all snark and smirks in the post. "I TOLD everyone this fight should never have been made. I should be in there against the best lights and welters in the world, not an aging puffed up bantam. Girls like that just can't stand UP to me and my power. As you just SAW. In fact, maybe what I ought to do is go after Upton again and take her welterweight title. In fact, I think that's EXACTLY what I should do! But, no matter what, if Kate chooses to go with an undeserving Ferguson, make no mistake, that this old hag USED to consider herself Queen of the Beach. Obviously, I'll be claiming that title going forward and this is going to be the Summer of Kylie!"
