What I like is that she's willing to fight: what's not acceptable is that she and her people are talking like she's the next chapter. R1,2: Lucy dangling hands at her sides - feinting in and out, then lifting circus uppercuts off either thigh - trying to clip Steph big, then rotate around either flank on follow through. Jacobsen more technically conventional - right hand near chin, elbow in; left slightly extended, looking to dart jabs. Liu flat-footed, but prowling/leaping; Stephanie's footwork more orthodox but very well-schooled as she keys off the jab midring. Liu swiveling on her hips - bending low, rotating her torso around: very supple and bendy-backed. Jacobsen also supple at the waist, but more economical - not as flashy and dramatic as Lucy in her movements. Liu generally the aggressor - not landing clean, but threatening and spooking her foe - influencing Jacobsen out of her positions. Steph patient, refusing to be baited: she doesn't want to give up the home run early.

R3: Steph more assertive - doubling the jab, scoot-footing in and stabbing straight rights: Liu forced to duck/roll/retreat as Jacobsen comes forward. Stephanie scowling as she ups the tempo: jabs/straight right hands setting up rising left hooks in a diagonal trajectory - palm-down delivery brushing across Lucy's face. Liu scampering - hopping the perimeter: Jacobsen cutting off ring, jabbing to body, attacking with combinations: small glove tic-tac-toe starts to bounce off Lucy's tidy frame. Round finishes up to the sight of Liu butt-in-ropes, bobbing up and down at her waist; Steph hooking viciously behind right elbow, weight on her left (front) foot, taxing Lucy's body at bell. Through 3, it's power/agility to Lucy - boxing fundamentals/combination punching to Stephanie.

R4: Steph cutting off the ring, tapping straight lefts and rights at Liu's head - occasionally leading the right to Liu's nose. Steph banking the hook in behind Lucy's right elbow at every opportunity: Jacobsen leaning in on left (front) leg, arching her back and digging that shot in almost like a Mexico-city fighter. Liu grumpy about it - loping to her left: she's luring Steph forward, trying to walk her into a circus left uppercut from the knees. Down the stretch, straight left/right pinpoint Liu's face - Steph pursing her lips as she scores stiff tap on her rival. Lucy driven to ropes: Jacobsen quickly atop Liu with a batting flurry up top, followed by gouging left uppercuts to sternum. Lucy vexed, folding forward: Steph reaches left hand in under Liu's right arm; places left shoulder at Liu's left ear and bulls Lucy upright! Steph brawnily stacking Liu up, then raking her tidy lefts and rights in combination. Liu startled, pasted - eating punches with her right hand up, left across her body in confusion.

R5: Steph hunting Liu down - doubling and tripling up spitting jabs; jotting straight right hands - Liu getting pre-empted and worried out of her stance. Ropes: Lucy wants to dig in, work a bob-and-roll in the pocket, but Steph defeating this with her reach-in-and-stack tactics. Liu pushed upright, then strafed: VERY brisk taps/swats/swipes applied by Steph in combination. Liu touched to head and body, hounded as she slides along ropes: all Jacobsen till late. Down the stretch: Liu leads a right hand off the ropes, grazing Steph, straightening her up. Lucy hops in a short left uppercut, taking Steph to chin before the Jacobsen hook can get off: STEPHANIE'S HURT! Sudden Lucy Liu power unhinges Jacobsen's knees - she's desperate to clinch. Lucy grinning, embracing Steph, twisting her to ropes: Liu shoving off, pounding at her foe's midsection with limber rights and lefts as Jacobsen soaks it up to bell.

R6: Stephanie tapping and jotting - knocking straight punches off Lucy's face/forehead, then looking to check her body hooks. Liu lumping up, circling away - she's still looking for one big left uppercut from the crouch - or a pounce-step lead right to change things. Jacobsen more consistent, happy to hit singles - just making contact and moving Liu around the ring.

R7: Feint right hand sets up vicious sideswiping hook to tummy for Liu: Stephanie gasping in pain, folding forward, backing away grimacing. Liu striding in like she's tall - stepping-to with a wide hook in behind Steph's right elbow: little payback to the body puts Jacobsen butt-in-ropes. Liu loose in wide stance - pushing Steph in her shoulders before slugging. Lucy lifting supple right or left uppercuts off her front (left) leg; easing weight to back (right) leg to pull smarmy hooks across; leaning back in on left leg to sweep sidearm buggy-whip right hands into Steph's left flank. Jacobsen distressed - keeping elbows in, trying to stay compact: she takes her first real beating from Lucy as Liu punishes rival at ropes.

R8: Lucy sliding back in her stance, feinting Steph, spooking her: Jacobsen coming forward but much less aggressive than previously. It's Lucy getting off first now - walking Steph into pre-emptive left uppercuts, then falling off to the left (turning Steph's right flank). Liu bouncy in flat-footed stance - grinning, dangling the left at her thigh, then bringing surprise lead rights up the middle. Steph starting to get tagged looking - she's a little frazzled as Liu works her magic.

R9: Jacobsen proves a real pro, getting back to basics to unravel Liu's smoke-and-mirrors act. Stiff jabs in bunches; good hooks to body; crisp combination punching head-and-chest: these are Steph's Liu-busting tools. Lucy punched crisply about her eyes and cheekbones; dug tuff to her body - she's sliding away cranky, leaning into ropes, looking to roll-and-counter. Steph won't have it: whenever Lucy bends low - Jacobsen reaches in with the left arm, shouldering Lucy upright, then working her over tic-tac-toe. Lucy pasted again, busting up as young rival proves persistent through 9.

R10: The power of Lucy Liu. Stephanie finally victimized as Lucy lands with single shot power - first with the leaping left uppercut, then with subsequent sneaky right hands off the thigh and body-banging left hooks. Jacobsen hurt, reeling around glassy-eyed: she's a shell-shocked little vixen, careening into ropes, sliding helplessly to the side as Liu bares down. Lucy making giant circles with her right arm, then playfully poking Steph's face a straight left; feinting right hands, then digging gruesome hooks in behind Steph's right elbow as Jacobsen stoops forward behind gloves. Real gut check for Stephanie - she's lit up huge, but refuses to go down: Jacobsen's earlier body work probably robbing Liu of true stopping force at this point. Liu bludgeoning and stalking her foe - cooing to Steph, mocking her: Lucy clearly enjoying her young rival's difficulty. Bell: Liu raises both mitts above her head...she's the UD10 victrix.

After: Liu toweling off, crowing to cameras...but Stephanie J definitely sent a message for the future with this brave challenge. "So much for the next Lucy Liu," Liu grins, eyes puffy from countless Jacobsen jabs. "End of the day, I'm unique: the hardest-punching, most electrifying flyweight ever in boxing. Stephanie showed she can take a punch - that's about it."
