VIX: Scouting Mission Charlie

(Results: Lookout!, Words: Caspian)

1. Jessica Clements vs Irina Shayk (Lightweight)

Jessica:

(25, 5’9, 6:1 FCBA, SIRENs)

Irina:
(33, 5’10, 2:8 FCBA, The Fighting Academy)

BEFORE:

Just as we gear up for the big PPV tonight, three fights set to take place on this mini-card in a scouting event we haven’t done in a while! We’re back in the VIX Headquarters, located along the stretch of sunny Santa Monica beach. The room has a high-ceiling, industrial metal strips the walls, like a mini-arena in itself and a clean elevated ring in its center, and of course all sorts of activities going on in the periphery: girls training on body bags, others lifting weights in the background, and dear old Nina Agdal discussing her future opponent with Kate Beckinsale in a corner.

We have three fights on the card today, all semi-tryout matches, if you want to call them that, but really, most of these girls are Free Agents who are thrilled to be given a chance to fight on any occasion. The first match sees both competitors already prepped and ready to go in the ring, with Jessica Clements, a recent addition to the SIRENs roster, extending her stay in the FCBA as test tube baby for her opponent, Sports Illustrated model, Irina Shayk.

Irina wearing a pink sports bra with black tights, going for that old Soviet-era look. Jessica in white crop top blouse, showing a bit of cleavage underneath, black bikini briefs and yellow gloves. It may be a trial match but both women are sure as hell taking it seriously. HERE we go with ten rounds of Lightweight action!

ROUND 1:
Clements not giving the outsider any quarter, immediately storming forward and landing a barrage of jabs to the head. Perhaps it’s because of that recent loss against fellow model Cara Delevingne, just barely a day ago, that’s gotten her so incensed, with Clements moving and punching like she’s got something to prove. Irina covering up best she can from the brunette's leftover spunk, knows she needs to bide her time in order to score with her big guns later, the Russian model impressing us in some of her previous outings, routing her opponents with shocking hooks that spring forward outta nowhere. But she doesn’t manage to land anything significant this time, busy defending against the number of incoming jabs from Clements. The round ends with Clements looking mighty pleased with herself, having taken the round wide as she smirks back to corner.

ROUND 2:
Irina still covering her head up in the first minute, calmly absorbing most of Jessica’s punches, before she BLASTS the brunette clean across the cheek with one hell of a slobberknocker outta nowhere! OUCH. Clements tasting her opponent’s power first-hand as that right hook sails into the cheek, smack across her face and sending her spinning 180 degrees. Clements forced to cover up immediately, trying to escape, whilst Shayk grinning behind her gloves this time, stalking after her, ready to pound another hard fist into the face once Clements gets in range. But Jessica wisely keeping her distance for the rest of the round, eats another hard left to the tummy in the final minute, but otherwise manages to stave off the Russian with counter-jabs sent in from afar. Oh dear - perhaps it's not the best idea to have back-to-back fights for Clements?

ROUND 3:
Overambitious Clements looking increasingly concerned as the rounds roll by, previously able to knock her jabs straight into Irina’s face without much effort, but now needs to look out for Irina’s return swings that have the potential to knock her clean off her feet at a moment’s notice. Not only that, Irina switching her attacks mid-way, landing a damaging punch straight to Jessica’s nose, making her gurgle and reel backwards. Looks like Shayk can exert her own brand of power when she wants to, continues to ramp up the pressure with jabs hounding the Siren to the head for the next minute. Clements can’t lose again, not twice in a row - at least that’s what she’s telling herself, choosing to lock her arms and dance around the heavy-hitting Russian for the remainder of the round, occasionally sending a jab in between the guard, grazing the chin or cheek, but the audience never in doubt who’s really in charge.

ROUND 4:
Clements adapting well, staying out of range for the most part, but she’d be lying to think that this fight is turning into anything but a piece of cake for her. Intense concentration required in order not to get bulldozed by Irina’s right hook, and on occasion, the Siren certainly gets too close for comfort. Irina still advancing on her, that model stamina meaning she rarely has to sit still and catch her breath. She bangs another right hook into Clements’ arms, throwing her off balance, but when she tries to go at it with another hook, she finds herself only hitting air as Clements ducks under nicely, then batters the stomach with her own combination of lefts and rights. Irina groans, body jerking, tries to rally by slamming blows back into the sides, and the two girls get into a vicious back-and-forty tummy tucking contest right in the middle of the ring, mutually throwing hooks into each other’s frame until the bell rings and the referee has to step in to separate. Clements proves she can hold her own in there and go toe-to-toe with a heavy-hitter, but still emerges from that melee slightly bruised.

ROUND 5:
Clements emboldened after landing some significant damage last round, goes flying forward and getting into Irina’s face before she can even react. That seems to be a sound strategy to deal with the Russian, who’s so surprised by the blitz attack that she barely has time or space to return any hooks, goes stumbling backwards from the onslaught of jabs that are landing on her arms and body, unabated. Irina groaning as she’s trapped on the ropes, arms locked over her head but her body eating shot after shot from Clements, who’s bashing leather into her sides repeatedly, and even swiping away at her chest, relishing the squeal of pain from the Russian’s lips. Shayk finally recovers enough courage to return fire: a right hook slams into the side of Clements’ head, rattling her enough to call off her attack, but the damage more or less done as Irina’s left panting hard on the ropes, back still glued to the fabric as the round ends firmly in Jessica’s corner.

ROUND 6:
Shayk may be a heavy-hitting Russian but all that vodka must be doing damage to her overall stamina. She’s taking deep breaths as she emerges from corner, eager to brawl but the rest of her body not willing to cooperate. Clements on the other hand a fresher face, still breaking the wrong side of 20 as she circles, jives and jabs, landing quick snap punches into Shayk’s face without much intervention. Minute two and Irina blown back by another right cross straight into the lips, making her cup her face in agony with both hands. No mercy from the Siren as she leaps in after her, landing a hook across the face, which SENDS IRINA DOWN TO CANVAS, WRITHING IN AGONY! Irina blown off her feet by that KNOCKDOWN for Jessica Clements! OUCH! Shayk left sprawled on her back by the rope side, one hand still pulling hard on the bottom one, the rest of her body looking shocked and paralyzed. Referee counts her all the way out to the ten, then waves both his arms over the fallen Russian to call the match!

Official Decision: Jessica Clements defeats Irina Shayk via KO6!

AFTER:

“She wasn’t bad, but I’m better,” Clements later saying to reporters with a smile. “That girl can hit like a freight truck, but I think she still needs a little more work strengthening that jaw of hers. But if anyone wants to sign her after that beating, I have nothing else to say to them.”

Poor Irina Shayk having lost three in a row since the beginning of this year, not to mention only having won a match since 2017. If she’s proven anything tonight, however, it’s her tenacity and stubbornness, and some potential to compete with the rest of the roster. We do hope she lands on her feet some place in the future.
