Before:
Top welterweight action sees Girls Friday’s Hilary Rhoda taking on Fates’s Karen Gillan. The two top welters could work their way into the title picture with a win in the small division.
“I know Karen’s tough,” Hilary says, “But I am going to take her down and be 3-0 for the year.”
“Rhoda’s been a top welterweight for a while,” Gillan compliments her foe, “But tonight, I need to win and build momentum for when I face Kate Upton next month. Hilary is not going to stop me.”
Karen the first girl to make her way to the ring, the redhead wearing a white sports bra and matching gloves and trunks, her hair in a ponytail for the fight. The redhead paces as the brunette is announced. Hilary steps out and removes her robe to reveal a red bikini set and blue gloves, her hair up in a bun for the fight. The two girls touch gloves and the ref calls for the bell.
Round 1:
Karen and Hilary start by circling each other, both girls knowing the other girl is dangerous for her reach. Rhoda gets the better end of the initial strikes and tags Gillan in her mouth. The redhead drops back and the brunette chases after her, shooting out a left. Gillan dodges the blow and pounds a right into Rhoda’s nose. Karen follows up with a right cross and Hilary is in retreat, the Girls Friday fighter protecting her head as the Fates girl unloads on her body and drives her into the ropes. Hilary quick on the clinch to force a break, and the ref separates the two welterweights. The two girls resume circling and trading jabs with each other. Karen lands another strike square into Hilary’s mouth as the round ends, and the Brit takes the round on points, wide.
Round 2:
The two girls resume the fight by circling each other. Rhoda jabs at Gillan and drills the redhead with a right to her mouth, knocking her back. Karen blocks the follow up from Hilary, but the brunette starts to work on the redhead’s body. Rhoda pumps two rights into Gillan’s ribs and the redhead clinches with the brunette to force a break. The ref pulls the two girls apart and the two start circling each other. Gillan lands a left and Rhoda drops back, but the redhead goes back on the defensive as the brunette lands a right-left combo and forces the redhead back. The two girls trade blows from range and the bell rings, and the round goes to Rhoda on points.
Round 3:
The third rounds begins the same as the second as both girls return to their jabs. Rhoda lands a pair of rights to start and Gillan gives up ground. Hilary lands a left into Karen’s ribs and the redhead clinches to force a break. The ref pulls the two girls apart and the two girls resume circling. Karen now the girl who lands her jabs as she works Hilary back and the Girls Friday fighter plants her feet. The brunette lands a right back at the redhead, but Karen connects with a straight that knocks Hilary back and the brunette is on her heels. Karen steadily landing blows into Hilary’s body and midriff till the brunette clinches and the ref steps in. Gillan goes back after Rhoda and lands a left straight, but the American connects back with a right as the bell rings. The third is a close round, and both girls seem to be fighting the style they want to fight.
Round 4:
Rhoda and Gillan have settled into their rhythms and Gillan goes for a straight left – and Rhoda rocks her with a right! Karen defensive, protecting her head and counterpunching but Hilary works around Karen’s blows and connects with a right straight into the redhead’s midriff. The air rushes out of Karen’s lungs and Rhoda connects with a right-left hook combo that drops Karen! Gillan struggles to get to her hands and knees, but the redhead finds her way and beats the count. The ref waves Rhoda back in and the brunette charges, hammering the redhead’s body. Gillan clinches to force a break and the redhead lands a pair of cheeky rights out of the break, but Rhoda is relentless and forces Gillan back into the ropes. Gillan clinches again and the bell brings the round to an end. Rhoda dominates the fourth round and she can practically see Gillan on the canvas in the fifth.
Round 5:
Hilary with a look of determination to finish off her foe to start the fifth. Rhoda shoots out a big right that crashes into Gillan’s guard and she follows up with a left haymaker – but nobody is home as the leggy redhead puts her long stride to use and sidesteps to her right. Rhoda’s face is exposed and Gillan connects with a right that swivels Rhoda’s head and the model is wobbly! Hilary staggers around the ring, desperately keeping her gloves up but Karen turns up the heat and smashes her blows through the brunette’s guard. Gillan playing target practice with Rhoda’s head as she smashes blows through the Girls Friday fighter’s guard and sends her to the canvas! Rhoda shaking her head as she crawls around the ring, the American looking to grab hold of the ropes, but the brunette can barely lifts her torso up before the count of ten. Your winner by KO5, Karen Gillan!
After:
Karen Gillan adds another victory to her list and she needs all the momentum she can get before facing Kate Upton next month. Rhoda with a valiant effort and nearly taking out the actress. Karen visibly wincing as she makes her way around the ring, the redhead waving to the fans before embracing the Girls Friday fighter and making her way out to the press.
“Hilary is really tough. She nearly beat me.” Karen tells the press, “But I’m going to take the momentum I got tonight and will use it to take down Kate in May. I know she’s looking for revenge and has made sure to take down my other stablemates. I’m not going to let her do that to me.”
Rhoda slow to make her way to the press conference, but the model speaks to the press, “I’m going to be thinking about tonight for a long time,” Hilary says, “I thought I had her, but I couldn’t finish her off. I’ll get her back someday.” |
