Mandy Moore vs. Kate Upton
(Words: Front Street / Results: Lookout!)

BEFORE:

Intersting stylistic contrast in this one, with the uber-phyiscal Upton, in one of her rare rough patches, facing technician Moore, who always makes it difficult for girls who want to bang. But, if Kate's concerned about Mandy's boxing ability, it doesn't show in the pre-fight. "Yes, I've had a couple of tough losses lately," says the blonde beauty with a nod. "But. I'm still the best big girl in the FCBA. And EVERYONE knows it."

"Kate is obviously a measuring stick around here," says the brunette. "But. People forget that I have just as many welterweight titles to my credit as SHE does. I can beat her. And, I'm going to."

ROUND ONE:

Upton working to pressure early, but the brunette's not having any. Mandy moving the feet well, working that looonnnggg left jab, keeping Kate off and landing good combinations while doing it. Blonde keeps coming. She's not going to go gun platform here, not against a boxer like the brunette. But, what she's doing's not working. Moore is finding her with that jab, and when she does that, everything goes sideways. Kate gets stopped, and Mandy's able to follow on with hard, accurate shot before moving and starting the entire pattern over again. Upton able to get inside a couple of times late in the round, and, when she does that, she bangs body, wrestles around in there. Brunette holds her own in those instances though, and, when the bell rings, Mandy's taken the first wide and leads 10-9.

ROUND TWO:

More of the same early, but, about a minute in, Kate begins to find her way forward. She's slipping or blocking the jab, stepping in, working body, backing Moore up with heavy leather. Now. THESE are the terms on which Kate wants to fight. And, there are few women in the FCBA who are going to have success going there with her. Moore holds her own in spots, but, mostly, she's taking hard shot, giving ground, covering up. Upton's work rate impressive for this weight, as she's getting off a lot and she's landing a high percentage of those punches. She's clearly looking to land a big one, and, while she doesn't manage that, she DOES land a lot of leather, a lot more than the brunette manages. As a result, when the bell rings, Kate's taken it wide and evened things at 19.

ROUND THREE:

More pressure from Kate. Upton ALL up in Moore's grill, determined to get physical, even walking THROUGH punches when she can't get around them, which, of course can be danger...DOWN GOES KATE! Mandy stops her with a left jab and DROPS her with an overhand right! Upton blown to her back a minute in. Moore to a neutral corner, watching hopefully. But. Kate is up at eight. She's not looking any too steady, but, after the mandatory the referee waives on the brunette. Mandy lets the hands go, hammering Upton all around the ring. Blonde in desperate trouble. Referee on a hair trigger as Kate is driven to the ropes and given a serious working over. Moore tenderizes body, but mostly works upstairs looking for the finisher. She doesn't find it. But, she does pile up points and hurt, taking the round 10-8 and the lead 29-27.

ROUND FOUR:

Bad time to be Kate Upton. Blonde beauty is still hurt and wobbly and the veteran brunette KNOWS it. Moore to work early and often, working over her younger rival to both head and body. She's sitting down on her punches, looking for the "off" switch or, failing that, to force the referee to take action. And, he continues to watch closely as Upton takes a thorough beating. Kate jabbing back in spots, tying up when she can. But, it's Moore who's dominating this thing, piling up more and more hurt, more and more damage to the blonde's awesome chassis. Somehow, those sturdy legs continue to hold Upton up, even in the final 45 seconds, when she's on the ropes taking flurry after flurry of leather once again. When the bell finally sounds, it's shutout, Mandy. And Moore leads 39-36.

ROUND FIVE:

Moore getting to work early, but Upton now able to hold her ground. Blonde's legs coming back, and, while she's still taking the worst of it, she's at least getting off and landing with some power. After a first minute that's mostly Mandy, Kate's game rounds into shape. Now, she's putting punches together, able to get some offense going, throw the brunette to the defensive here and there. Mandy bangs back, trying to maintain control of the bout, but it's not going to happen. Upton's back into a forward gear, and back in the fight. Final minute sees some great back-and-forth stuff, with both fighters landing some hard shots. There's not much in it as the last few seconds tick off, but a final big flurry from Upton that backs up the brunette proves to be enough to create some space. Kate narrowly claims the round and cuts Mandy's lead to 48-46.

ROUND SIX:

Upton's pressure continues as we start the second half. She's determined to get physical with her rival, and she's able to close and bang, despite Mandy's best efforts. Again, Moore firing back hard, holding her own for the most part. These aren't the terms she wants, but she's sturdy and hard-hitting enough not to be overwhelmed on them. But, again, few fighters are going to make a living having to fight like this against Kate Upt...DOWN GOES MANDY! A short blast of a right hook swivels the brunette's head and send her crashing to the canvas on her back. Kate quickly to a neutral corner to watch as the referee counts over the downed Moore. Mandy not moving at all as the numbers get larger and larger. She's OUT. And it's OVER. And your winner by KO6 is Kate Upton!

AFTER:

Upton looking a little scuffed in the post-fight, but still all smiles. "Did you SEE that?" the blonde beauty grins. "I'm right back on track and I'm better than ever. And, that's BAD news for you Hannah and Tahnee and all the rest. Very. Very. Bad. News."
