BEFORE: Kate continuing the recent trend of flyweights moving up to test their bantamweight sisters - contributing editor from Celebrity Ring tells us how: "Basically, it boils down to height and class," Regis Hutz says in his monthly column, "Taller flyweights with tons of experience and a lot of talent can be successful in the move up. Bosworth certainly qualifies - she'll bring the lion's share of experience to the contest with Summer, and although Katie will be outgunned, it'll be a real challenge for Glau to bring her guns to bear against a fighter of Bosworth's quality."

Sum in green bikini; black boxing short-boots to mid calf; small black work out mitts; hair in loose, long curls. Kate in midnight blue bikini; small white work out gloves; hair in scruffy beach ponytail that says "I'm fresh, and pesky".

During R1: Brace of hooks, Kate to Summer: Bosworth licking body/head, body/head while pivoting sharply left and SUMMER'S DOWN! Rapid fire connects shake Glau, then drop her to all fours - she's a hot mess struggling up, swaying at ropes for 8. ON COMES KATIE! Bos with a "take that" buggy whip right hand in above Summer's left hip - beating along ropes proceeds from there as poor Glau slides to her right. Kate attacking and withdrawlng - paralelling course and speed: sharp, pinpoint attacks snatching at Summer's midsection, solar plexus and jaw. Diligence rewarded: Kate touching Summer up minute after minute; wicked lathering off hooks late beats Glau to all fours for a shining 10-7 first.

R2: Kate in rigid, springy forward aspect: right heel up off canvas; weight planted on lead (left) leg. Crisp, sudden pokes and swats from Kate - Summer grimacing, hands at temples, still shabby from those first-round knockdowns. Bos about her girls with jagged little left uppercuts; pumping jabs; sticky straight rights. Peppering tic-tac-toe taps Sum for a shutout as blonde tidies up for points.

R3: Kate obviously not content to box Summer's ears off: Bosworth still in forward aspect, but setting down on punches, especiallly a ripping left uppercut taut to Summer's solar plexus. Glau in earmuff, grunting as she's taxed: Sum finally landing in anger as Kate's a little more available. Final minute, persistent left uppercuts sticking over and over up into Summer's body have her in a bad way: she's stricken, lips curling off teeth as she eases herself down to right knee, tears welling up in unhappy eyes. Kate icy passing by, looking her brunette over.

R4,5: Summer trying to compete, but there's a lot going wrong for her. First: she's hurt. Second: she had counted upon being as mobile as Kate, but the body punching has her legs stiff and reactions slow. Third: Kate's maintaining discipline - pivoting round her strikes, rarely standing in front of Summer to indulge in mutually destructive trade. Glau landing in spots, batting at Kate's slender flanks - but it's more Bosworth minutes as blonde boxes, turns, dominates her rival through 5.

R6: Routine trading - girls lathering at each other: free-swinging, limber delivery from both as punching opens up, exciting the crowd. Summer able to slug for respect - catching Kate repeatedly via a sweeping rights or slinging left hooks. Glau stepping in, reaching her right hand well behind her hip and twisting into haymakers: Bosworth rocked time and again as Summer slings in small-mitt leather over Kate's left shoulder. Bosworth put wobbly butt at points, forced to clinch: Glau stabilizes her front, shows good bantam durability in shaking off hurt to hurt her tormentress in turn.

R7,8: Bosworth back to boxing - circling to her left while victimizing Summer hooks and jabs. Licking, lathering stuff: hooks carving in under the elbows to snatch at flat brunette tummy; sticky hook gouging in behind right elbow, tucking in just above Summer's right hip; stiff jabs working Summer's face hooks-off-the-jab testing Sum's rightside jaw line. Best of all, a vicious, digging little left uppercut fitted to Summer's solar plexus - Katie getting it stiff off that planted left leg; Summer taking it as she's stooped forward behind her mitts. Kate cleans up for points, sending Summer back to her corner increasingly frazzled.

R9: More Kate domiinating Summer - working the pivot-and-punch left hand techniques to perfection. Glau unhappy behind her high guard - turning on the spot, getting touched up. Everything changes late as women trade hooks-to-chin and Glau gets much the better of it. Kate startled, stepping away to regroup: Sum hops in with her right hand way behind her buttocks - lissome, bend-and-twist delivery sweeps the right to Kate's left cheek, swivelling her head and PITCHING HER TO HER FACE! Kate just DROPPED - she lies on her belly, hands covering her face as she's face-down on canvas for several seconds. Bosworth beats the count, but she's a staring ruin. Not enough time for Glau to clean up proper, but she's hurt Kate terribly and nicked her for a 10-8 ninth!

R10: Kate firms, boxes her girl: Bosworth just offensive enough to continue turning Summer's right flank, keeping the fight midring. Summer desperate to hurt Kate again, but she's missing those swinging right hands now - cagey Bosworth ducking under them, then tying up as Sum falls in. Sum huffs and puffs, can't blow Katie's house down: Bosworth able to keep a lid on things to the bell. Comes back UD10, pretty Kate Bosworth.

After: Fighters respectful, chatting about the fight as ring fills with the usual suspects. Glau proving stout, able to absorb a thrashing and come back with strength. Bosworth proving classy and quick - controlling her lissome foe with the left hand primarily, doing good big-girl damage underneath. "She's a promising fighter," Kate allows in postfight. "She's classy, but she doesn't rely on her class: when things get tough, this girl firms up rather than going away mentally. Personally, I love to see that in ingenues - that's how you get to the championship level in the long run: grit and class in equal measure."
