Before: Sometimes hot, shrieking sessions between these two; sometimes frosty snubbing and awkward, crossed-armed silences in prefight - Hayden and Sarah clearly agitated by weeks of training side by side for the inevitable confrontation.

"She brought Kristin Kreuk in for sparring one day," Carter says, voice dripping with accusatory venom. "Kristin Kreuk. Into MY gym. That was all about trying to hurt me - Kris giving me all these glances and looks - imitating me in the ring for Hayden. it was bullshit sparring and Hayden knows it. But that's the kind of thing she does: stupid, catty little mind games. I'll be so happy when this is over - I've beaten her - I've taken her titles - and she FINALLY knows her place. I honestly can't stand the sight of her any longer!"

Hayden equally irritated, and infuriated at Sarah's accusations of cattiness. "SHE brought Sophia Bush in!" Hayden whines, pointing over at Sarah without looking at her from the podium. "HISC was just laughing at us - they're loving this - and Sarah just made everything worse by going rounds with Bush in front of me. I had to listen while Sophia's going on about what I do in fights, and how to get to me...total crap! Sarah just wanted to bring that skank into MY house, to flaunt her - that's all! Carter's going to get everything I've got - all night long. If the only thing I've got free is my shoulder, I'll hit her with it: I'm making it that kind of fight. We get in the trenches...Sarah knows she can't handle me. It's going to be me on her, fighting in HER swimsuit, and she's never, ever getting my belts!"

Hayden in little brown crochet bikini; small black work out gloves; hair back in tight battle bun. Sarah in gold bikini; small black work out gloves; hair in long low ponytail with bangs framing face.

During R1: Hayden spitting jabs, bobbing rapidly on approach. Sarah sliding back in her stance, well organized, jabbing at Hayden's head and shoulders. Nearing apron, Sarah neck-clasps Hayden, spinning her, pushing her off into ropes: Carter neatly reversing field, strafing Hayden a cheap, lathering flurry as Panettiere's reorganizing. Panny forward again - bobbing, showing crossed-arm: Sarah fading the pressure - jabs and sleek lead right hands while retreating, then either neck-clasp-and-pivot, or sidestepping Hayden to spoil Panny's approach. Nimble stuff from Sarah: Hayden rarely able to penetrate, and when she does: Sarah's grabby tactics prove sound.

R2: Same again: Hayden with intense pressure up the middle, answered by Sarah's lissome legs, sinewy retreats, and illegal neck clasps. Ref getting on Carter: "Stay off her neck, Sarah!"...Hayden frurstrated as she's routinely pulled, spun, and released. To the slick mixture of face-punches, Sarah adds at least one biting left uppercut to Hayden's solar-plexus - digging deep as Hayden's crouching. Bell: Hayden frowning with her back to the ropes - she's puzzling things out, unaware of Sarah leaning in from the Panettiere left flank. FLYWEIGHT ELBOW - SARAH CARTER! Sarah leaning across, digging her right elbow-tip back into Hayden's tummy: shout of pain from Panny as she doubles up; instant ref reaction sees Sarah yanked away by her elbow, given a good shake-and-scold.

R3: Panny's pressure relentless...plus she's FURIOUS about the late elbow strike. Stubby jabs locating Sarah's chest as Hayden bores in. Clubbing right finally lands up top, taking Sarah on her ear; follow up blows in the ribs beat her to ropes. Carter grimacing, being supple in the pocket: she's cute here, leaning into ropes; bending low to edge a shoulder into Hayden's body; tipping side to side in search of limber counters. Hayden anything BUT cute: pushing into Sarah, bodying her upright, then bludgeoning her. Hayden's small, bashing fists take a fearful toll: Sarah battered about her chest and ribs; clubbed about her head and shoulders as sleek gamine starlet starts to break down. Rough shove and slug has Sarah ragdoll down the stretch: she's being bullied, stacked up and battered as Hayden pours it on to bell. Carter whining to ref about Hayden's head, shoulders and elbows during the break: exasperated Panny shouts: "Give it a rest, Sarah!"

R4: Sarah feints, prompting Hayd into a crouch: there's that vicious, digging left uppercut fitted snug to solar plexus. Panny grunting, grimacing on receipt: she hadn't expected to be taxed to the body. Struggling forward, Hayden's ripped to chin as Sarah shifts weight to back (right) foot, lashing the hook up and across - then immediately leaning forward again, slashing righty to chin. Minute mark: Hayden's startled, really getting strafed; forward pressure visibly slowing as angular Sarah dives in/leans out to good effect. Carter baring her teeth, eyes blazing - she's TEARING at Hayden here, really upping the intensity. Hook/right hand, hook/right hand toggles Hayden's head about, confusing her: she's baby stepping forward, shouting in pain as Sarah dips-n'-digs left uppercut to 'plexus again. Sarah pivoting sexy-left - all sleek and nimble: she turns Hayden's right flank, slots a right hand in on right side of Hayden's face before Panny can turn: left uppercut picks Hayden up from weird angle and DOWN GOES PANNY! Hayden punched to all fours: she's crestfallen, blinking in astonishment. Sarah strutting, insufferable ponytail swishing across her backbone as poor Panny rallies off the mat. Resume: Sarah attacking with a lead right hand and a dose of rising lefts...then she slides back, luring Hayden forward off the ropes. Neck-clasp pulls tired Hayden forward, spins her 'round midring: short, drilling, straight right hand in the mouth; sleek wiry left hook across the chops as Sarah leans weight onto right foot (pointing the toe of her left foot with exquisite grace). Hayden stumbling, wide-eyed, getting pasted: she presses forward, but takes Sarah's dialed in lead right hand, then gets stroked the hook as Sarah's sliding back and away. Taller blonde dictating range beautifully: she's picking Hayden apart, leading her a merry chase. Down the stretch, Sarah feints Hayden into a crouch; tucks left uppercut to sternum; pivots-left; lashes a hook against Hayden's lower back from the angle/picks her up a jagged right uppercut on the right cheek and HAYDEN'S DOWN! Dropped to all fours again, Hayden's in shock, snivelling as she scrambles up, swaying at the bell. Sarah smiling as she swivel-turns, drawing that breath of blonde across Hayden's throbbing face: PONYLASH! Hayden left numb and staring at the ropes as Sarah struts away all pretty.

R5: Hayden firming - she's busting up some, but she's proving sturdy - back to attacking up the middle with crossed arms and bobbing torso. Sarah disconerted: she battered this girl last round - treated her shabby - and Hayden's pouring forward. Panny clubbing hooks to Sarah's waist; looping dangerous right hands over the top: Carter frequently scampering, even jogging to the side to escape the pressure. Ref shouting repeated warnings to Sarah - "Stay OFF her NECK, Sarah! Man, I mean it!" Carter able to stay off the ropes by virtue of these spinning neck-clasps constantly keeping Hayden off balance. Round to Panettiere - not a lot of damage done, but she stuns Sarah with sheer ferocity after what should have been a decisive fourth.

R6: Sarah eyes narrowed - boxing beautifully in retreat: she's fitting Hayden for cruel punches now. Left uppercut to the sternum is there - Sarah getting it off cute feints or decoy lead right hands. Real lead right hands knock at Hayden's forehead; lean-away hooks slap her cheek, carve at her chin. Panny pushing through it all however, bashing back looping right hands up top; brawling hooks to limber ribs beneath. Sarah's legs always bailing her out - she's sleek to either side, turning Hayden, escaping her. Cruel attention paid to Hayden's eyes this round via Sarah's educated jab; Hayden's own jab a stubby wonder in Sarah's chest, disrupting Carter. At one point, Hayden cries out from a thumb in the eye - courtesy Sarah's jabbing hand: Panettiere clubbing a pair of hooks against Sarah's breasts in retaliation. Even round - neither girl able to impose her will as Hayden pursues Sarah, but can't bring toe-to-toe battle.

R7: "GUHH!" Hayden bunches up around that left uppercut in her sternum: Sarah just dipping her supple left shoulder, popping dancer's hips right, arching her back and lashing that stroke home. Well placed punch has Hayden stymied: Sarah quick-shifting to her right - left hand palming Hayden's head while Sarah whipsaws her lean chassis into a merciless buggywhip right hand to Panny's left flank/lower back. Panettiere groaning in pain at the awful, thumping impact: Sarah's eyes dancing - she KNOWS that hurt. Sarah slides back, luring Hayden forward, walking her onto a sleek, inside hook to mouth with a nice scrubbing forearm follow-through bonus. Interior right uppercut picks Hayden up blinking: Sarah dips down snug on the inside, tucking that right fist into Hayden's trembling gut. Clapping left hook on Hayden's right ear/pivot-left carries Sarah past Panny's right flank: Hayden turning slowly, starting to face into punishment with a bleak, confused expression. Twitching feint sets up drilling hesitation right hand: Hayden punched flush on her face straightens up, totters back on her heels - staggering away from Sarah for the first time tonight. Sarah hopping forward all bright-eyed - she jabs Hayden to ropes, then braces Hayden's chest with knuckles of the left hand. Limber right cross streaks across Hayden's face, punching it aside: Sarah reloading as Panny's head lolls back into position. Another streaking right, another: Sarah propping Hayden up, then wiring in on her, bending into these lethal strokes as poor Panny's slumping in ropes, mesmerized. Hayden just staring, lips parting, hands at her lap and THE REF STEPS IN! Sarah pastes out Hayden TKO7!!!

After: Pandemonium. Hayden out on her feet, blubbering into the official's chest "Nuh...no...no..." as he hugs her to safety. Colour commentator Vanessa Marcil rejoicing...and she's no fan of Sarah Carter's, so she must be impressed: "This is a triumph for the gamine class flyweight! Sarah got it all: the elbow strike, the ponylash, the knockdowns AND the stoppage! The day of these porky little pressure fighters is OVER at 110!" When Hayden's composed, Sarah approaches the defeated champion's corner, regally posing with arms out to either side as Foxfire attendants take the belts from Hayden's people - placing the straps across Sarah's shoulders/around her slender waist, as all the while, Carter makes haughty eye contact with Panettiere. Mandy Moore and Mary Elizabeth Winstead in attendance; cameras and mics pushing in: Hayden stoic, being brave, swallows hard and says: "Great fight Sarah. You earned this."

Winstead chimes in. "Come on Sarah: give the girl a hug. Let's get past this."

Sarah smiles - thin and mean. "No problem. I want this to be over too, so how 'bout this: Hayden just has to say that I'm better. Not just that I fought great and took her apart tonight - that's obvious. I'm better. That's what I want to hear. Give me that, and we can be one big happy family again."

Hayden shakes her head, lips trembling, eyes brimming with angry tears. "Go to hell," she manages before wheeling away and exiting the ring - cameras rolling.

Mary: "Hayden!" then, "Sarah! Damn it - you won - it's up to you to make the gesture! Don't make her crawl!"

Sarah: "Um, Mare? Maybe when YOU win something, you can push your weight. Right now you're a place-holder on the roster, ok?"

Mary: "YOU...Mandy, are you just going to stand there?"

Mandy: "What - Sarah won. Maybe Hayden should just say whatever...right? I mean...maybe Sarah's, you know..."

Clearly Foxfire brain trust (Harnois; Madsen; Fox) have their work cut out. Foxfire a house divided on the eve of Carter's triumph: looks like the girls could use a little counselling.

Sarah and Hayden sat in the locker room, still wearing their sweat soaked ring attire with robes on top. They were all alone.

"You two are going to stay in there until you make up," Beth harnois ordered the startled boxers and the stormed out, slamming the door behind her and then locking it.

"Wow," Hayden said, "who knew she could sound so butch?"

Sarah smiled: "If she could fight as well as she just sounded you and I might be worrying about her, instead of each orher."

Hayden looked exhausted, but she was still defiant: "I'm not worried about you, Sarah, Okay, you beat me, that doesn't make you the better fighter."

"And who taught you that a bit of twisted logic?" Sarah demanded.

"So Kristin Kreuk is better than you? She beat you, you know!" Hayden retorted.

"She is NOT better than I am, I don't care how many times she beats me!" Sarah stubbonrly insisted.

"I rest my case," Hayden said.

"Hey, I was the one on the lawyer show, not you," Sarah retorted in exasperated.

"I learn quick. Something you should worry about, old lady!" Hayden smirked.

"Who are you calling 'old', squirt?" Sarah fired back.

"You're older than me, Sarah, what am I supposed to call you, 'Baby Sister'?" Hayden inquired.

"Ugh! Don't you dare!" Sarah said, more amused than angry.

Hayden gingerly got off the bench they had been sitting on: "Sarah, I'm tired of this. I came here to box, not argue with you all the time. Now stand up!"

Sarah looked wary, but stood up. Hayden suddenly threw off her robe and kneeled in front of thr astonished older blonde.

"O, great and wonderful, Sarah Carter, I humbly aknowledge that you are the better boxer and I am fortunate to exist in your shadow!"

Then Hayden bounded to her feet and pulled the robe back on: "That good enough for you?"

Sarah put her hands on her hips: "Hayden Panettiere, besides being guilt of Over Acting in the First Degree, I didn't believe a word you just said."

"Well, you are going to have to settle for that, because I'll leave Foxfire before you get anything more out of me!" Hayden declared.

Sarah was silent and finally through up her hands: "Well, don't leave Foxfire, you'll only end up with some meat merchant who'll job you and ruin your career. I refuse to see all the training I've given you go to waste like that."

It was Hayden's turn to be silent, finally she said: "I don't want to leave. You've just made it hard to stay."

"Okay, how about a truce. I'm the champ and you're not. We'll leave it at that," Sarah proposed.

"Until I finally figure out how to beat you," Hayden said.

"That day will be a long time coming," Sarah said with a slight smile.

"But it will come," Hayden promised.

Sarah shrugged and said: "Deal."

Hayden smiled: "Deal."

They shook hands on it and then went to the door and rapped on it.

"Hey, let us out, Beth!" Hayden called cheerfully. "We've made up."

"Really!" Sarah added.

The door opened. Beth poked her head in and looked at the feuding flyhweights

"You really make up?" Beth asked suspiciously.

"For now," Sarah said with a smirk.

"For now," Hayden agreed with a smirk of her.

Beth beamed: "Well, good. Now go hit the showers. I hate to say it, but you're pretty ripe."

Sarah and Hayden headed for the showers. Virginia Madsen came over to Beth.

"Good work," Virginia said.

"It was your idea," Beth said. "I just hope this over."

Virginia laughed knowingly: "Beth, this is just a truce. Enjoy it will it lasts."

Beth could hear showers starting up and she thought she heard Sarah and Hayden calling out to each other like in happier days.

"I will," Beth said, "I just wonder when the next crisis will hit."

"Probably when you least expect it," Virginia said.
