Before: Heigl bringing size to the dance, hoping to neutralize Biel's explosive offence. "I'm going to make this a good old fashioned welterweight bout," Kathy predicts. "Jessica's what I like to call 'weight room' strong - she's still a scrawny little bantam at heart and she's not going to be able to handle the beef. I'm going to walk her down, pound away and leave Jessica in rubble. Kind of like her movie career! How's that make you feel Jess? You peddle your ass in Stealth and the pig STILL can't make money!"

Biel pursing her lips at both the prognostication and the personal slight, singularly unamused. "You thought Stealth bombed - wait'll you see Aeon Flux! And like you should talk: at least I get offered blockbusters - NOBODY wants to see what you're peddling. As for the fight - people are going to be shocked at how much STRONGER I am than Katherine. Everybody knows I could box circles around her, but when I start hurting her and backing her up, they're going to realize that I'm something special in the FCBA. I'm the future, I'm the 21st century celebrity fighter - Heigl's like a throwback to the fat pigs of the 50s. That's no contest, baby!"

Heigl in beige crochet bikini - Biel in neon baby blue from Stealth.

During R1: Heigl working with a stiff jab, advancing Jewel-like behind a tight frame defense, getting her body on Biel and walking smaller vixen to ropes. Kathy mauling brawny - pushing on Jess, rubbing a forearm against her throat, riding a heavy forearm across her upperback. Heigl holding and hitting, cramming thick, thudding right hands to Jessica's muscular midsection or flank while trapping her head in the crook of Kathy's left arm. Jess squirming, pushing, bogged down - she can't get her back off the ropes, can't breathe in there - good smothering shutout first Kat Heigl.

R2: Jessica renegotiates all terms - legs dictating distance this round. Biel darting in and out, thrusting the body jab at Kathy's stout middle - nothing Kathy can do but grunt, take the punch or attempt to swipe it off her belly with a parrying right. Biel rotating in either direction, dancing at times, flat-footed prowling at others, crouching, leaning back, feinting. Combination of lateral leg movement and vertical torso movement has Heigl befuddled - Biel touches her up for points in a tactical second.

R3: Jess darting in but getting intercepted Heigl's thudding jab - Biel stalled in dangerous middle distance and clouted a heavy, chopping short right on her temple that has that muscular butt a-wobbling. Kathy with some big, batting lefts and rights to the flanks, smacking away at Biel behind her elbows, driving her open-mouthed to ropes: Jessi hurt, bending forward, feeling the heft of Heigl's welterweight stroke. Kathy bodies up, makes Jess feel the weight - constantly smearing and oppressing the smaller beauty, stacking and packing her at the ropes. Heigl holding and hitting despite a constant stream of ref's warnings - she's leaning her weight on Jess to keep her doubled over/sideways against the strands, jamming away rude right hands to Biel's exposed hip, flank, ribs. Broad, sunny smile Kathy Heigl: she's just working Jessica over methodical, pushing Biel to one knee at the bell as if to say, "See? I'm big."

R4: Biel answers, and answers, with vigour. Belly jabbing first minute establishes distance. Jess turns it up with vicious, Zab Judah type slashing punches from the hips - Biel darting past Heigl's jab like it's suspended in mid air and CLANGING away on chin. Big woman on her heels, staring into the ferocity - swiping haymakers detonating off either jaw line with shattering force and HEIGL GOES DOWN! Series of slobberknockers would have KO'd any true lightweight - Kathy on her rump, wiping at her mouth with her left forearm manages to regain her feet at 9. MORE JESSICA BIEL! Jess pinning her ears back and going at what's left: sizzling lefts and rights delivered with tremendous torso-torque - Biel ripping punches in such violent arcs her feet change position from orthodox, to southpaw, to orthodox again as balance automatically adjusts to the wallops. Heigl draping against the ropes in stupor - dukes up weak at her face but Biel's just belting past them, shredding the guard. Kathy all rung up, swooning, but standing at the bell: strong curvy legs holding her up as Biel stomps angrily to her corner with a 10-8.

R5: Heigl recovers well - really utilizing some sound Kilcher fundamentals to maximize her size advantage in this fight. Frame defence, stiff jab allows her to come forward - Biel shunting off the side, unable to penetrate when Heigl commits to snapping the stick. Good right hand loud against Jessica's flank - Biel fading to her right out of respect. Jessica negotiating her distance better, making it harder for Heigl to simply body-walk her around - Biel often showing a closed stance, pointing the left shoulder as Katherine, rolling punching and looking for swatting counter left hooks while sliding backwards. Kathy the come forward gal, gets the points.

R6: Biel more aggressive, jabs to the body to stabilize Katherine, works up torso with pleasing spank, scoring meaty with either mitt. Heigl caught and clapped that whipping hook - big girl tottering to her left, shaking her head as she tries to rebalance. Biel feinting, scoring with hesitation lead rights - she's able to bust Heigl in the mouth before Kathy can seal the guard tight up top. Jessica's ability to fight moving backward a huge plus in this fight - Kath trudging forward and catching hooks - when she finally gets off, Jessica's already stepped to the side. Down the stretch: Jessica shakes Kathy with a vicious, slinging sidearm right hand into the ribs as Heigl's jabbing. Kathy groaning, fans on a weak right hand that Biel easily slips under and Jess uncoils a shrieking hook from the crouch that POUNDS the mouthpiece off Heigl's teeth! DOWN GOES KAT! DOWN GOES KAT! Heigl sprawled, face clenched - ringing blow puts Heigl on her back and a big smile on Jessica's face. Kathy fights off the KO, gets to her feet and reels at the bell - Jessica Biel a little rattled to see Katherine shake off that clout.

R7: Kathy doesn't just shake off the clout, she comes back strong again, hounding Biel around the ring. Heigl not as crisp as puncher, not connecting as flush as she'd like - but she's able to press Biel to ropes, suffocate her, smother her, bog her down. Biel grimacing with the effort of pushing and shoving against Heigl, finding open canvas a luxury. Kathy making a point of pounding Biel's brawny shoulders and biceps in close - nice short, flat blows bruising up the muscle. Biel constantly wrapped in a headlock or doubled over and bulled sideways against the ropes - it's murky, brutal stuff, but effective at grounding Air Jessica in the seventh.

R8,9: Biel motoring, using the ring. Not a lot of fireworks - Jess showing a variety of looks: dancing and rotating briskly in either direction; closing up stance and prowling flat footed, showing lots of torso movement; countering with the left hook, leading with the flashy right hand. Constant in and out harrassment has Heigl's weight on her right leg - she's unable to come forward consistently, can't pull the trigger the way she'd like, but she's not getting hurt either. Jess boxing for late points, giving up on the KO and simply cruising to victory.

R10: Heigl able to get the jab on Jessica and stabilize her - good thumping exchanges characterize a trading tenth. Biel more or less in front of Katherine, working out of a limber torso bob, catching Kathy clouts on the mouth as she dips in and out of a forward crouch. Heigl pawing the jab, swinging a bear-like right to the ribs and clubbing Jess' shoulder and head the hook - nice thick, strapping two way. Biel getting moved around - showing she can stand toe to toe with a legit puncher, but this isn't really her fight. Heigl cops the 10th, Biel the fight via UD10 duke.

After: Both girls take 5 rounds, but Biel's lightning knockdowns the difference. Interesting blend of attributes - Heigl's durability confounding Jessica's explosive hitting, both girls able to execute their respective fight plans at times - pleasing fight for the watching.
