BEFORE:

"It's pretty simple," says Jessica with a smile. "If Ambrosio can win the lightweight title, I can win it. And, that starts right here."

"It's cute that Jessica thinks she can start a run to the belts by stepping over ME," says Katy with a shake of the head. "Well, SOMEBODY'S going to get stepped over tonight. Count on THAT."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Zou Bisou Bisou' you hear behind us, and here come the singer of that tune, the start of CBS's 'SEAL Team', the lovely Jessica Pare..."

Tess: "Pare's been here three times in the last year and a half and LOST three times, which tells you why she continues to get invited back...'

O'Dell: "Jessica down the aisle and into the ring to be helped off with the robe, and the crowd definitely appreciating how she looks in that blue flowered number we've seen before..."

McCarthy: "And, as I've SAID before, Philly. Low standards."

O'Dell: "And, that's 'California Gurls' you hear pounding through the arena, and here comes the singer of THAT song, the former Unified Lightweight Champion, 'The Santa Barbara Slugger', Katy Perry!"

Cassie: "Katy sitting at number two in the latest lightweight rankings, and she's no doubt thinking about getting those belts BACK. Going to need a win tonight if that's going to happen any time soon."

O'Dell: "Perry into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve, and the crowd loving that familiar red number she's rocking. Ladies about ready. Time for some picks. Tess likes Katy. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Pare HAS FCBA wins. So, I'm picking the upset. Jessica!"

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: 'Split panel to open the card. Let's see who's right. Pare wants to work at range early, and Katy has no problem with that. Canadian can box, no doubt about that, and this might well be the best path to an upset victory for the older woman. Perry, meanwhile, can fight different styles, but she's pretty solid on these terms..."

McCarthy: "At the moment, though, it's Jessica who's getting the better of things..."

O'Dell: "Definitely is. Canadian in some rhythm here, while Katy's mostly waiting, trying to find openings to get her offense going. Jessica a NICE combination there that forced Perry to cover up. Pare's got to be liking the way this thing's starting. She's doing more than holding her own here."

Cassie: "No doubt about it. She's taken control of the round, Jenny."

O'Dell: "Final thirty seconds, and Pare looking very, very impressive. Another good combination. Katy's not hurt, but she's definitely getting touched up as we head for the bell. Jessica piling up the points and looking darn good doing it right to the bell. No doubt about the first. Pare's got the 10-9 lead."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second begins on the same terms the first ended. Lightweights at range. Brunette getting the better of the blonde. Perry just not getting off that much right now. Not sure if it's Pare or if it's Katy just not able to get it rolling, but, Mac, the result is the Canadian controlling things..."

McCarthy: "Just as I predicted. On her way to an upset."

O'Dell: "Katy not pressing. She's staying at range, boxing with. No question she can do this, as we've seen in the past, but, for the moment at least, it's Jessica who's landing the better punches. Brunette very, very slick, and that's winning the day for the moment, anyway..."

Tess: "Surprised Perry hasn't tried to close and get physical here. She hits like a welterweight. Definitely has the advantage there."

O'Dell: "Final half minute of the second and Katy beginning to get rolling now, but Pare still holding her own. SHARP exchanges between the two lightweights punctuating the final seconds of the second round. BIG trade right there and there's the bell. Better for Katy late, but still Jessica's round."

Cassie: "And, Pare's up 20-18 after two."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Ladies at range again as we start the third, but now it's Katy getting off first. And, it's changing the dynamic in the early going. Perry getting combinations on, forcing Jessica to cover up, now backing up the Canadian with some heavy fire. Pare trying to get back on the front foot, but Perry not having it..."

Cassie: "This is the reason you've seen Perry beat the top girls at lightweight. She's a heavy hitter, yes, but she's a heck of an athlete with fast hands and great feet."

O'Dell: "ANOTHER solid combination, Katy, and Pare gives some more ground. Perry stepping forward, but remaining at gunnery range. She's got everything working now, and there's no need to make any adjustments. For Jessica's part, she's being reduced to the counter, but she's landing on it."

Tess: "Needs to be able to do more than that, though. Getting lined up too much..."

O'Dell: "Definitely is, and there's no percentage in that against a hitter like Perry. We're down to just 20 seconds to go in the third and Katy's had it all her way in this stanza. Ten seconds left and another BIG flurry from the blonde that backs up the brunette and there's the bell. Perry. Wide."

McCarthy: "But, Pare still up 29-28."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth begins with an adjustment from Pare. She's working forward to middle distances now, throwing Perry a curve after Katy's big third. Perry giving a little ground, wants to stay at range, but the Canadian not having it, at least at the moment, Mac..."

McCarthy: "Pare doing a good job angling inside the jab, Jenny."

O'Dell: "That she is, and it's making a difference. We've gone from Perry in total control to a two-way round, as Katy unable to get off first and preempt like she did in the third. Instead, both lightweights are getting their offense going, and there's not a lot in it at the moment."

Tess: "Katy landing the harder punches, but Jessica's landing more of them at the moment."

O'Dell: "That, she is. We're down to twenty seconds left in the fourth. Sharp exchange there sends Jessica back a step, but Pare angles right back forward and lands a nice flurry that forces the blonde to cover up. And, there's the bell. Close, but Jessica's got her third round in four tries."

Cassie: "And, she's back up by two, 39-37."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Pare again working at middle distances as we start the fifth and PERRY STEPS TO AND ROCKS HER WITH A RIGHT HOOK! Jessica stumbling, nearly going down, and Perry going ALL IN in the middle of the ring! Katy letting the leather fly as the Canadian backs and covers..."

Cassie: "She did well to take that and stay on her feet."

O'Dell: "No doubt about it, but Katy aiming to correct that result right now. She's got Pare backed to the ropes and she is giving her an absolute POUNDING, working both head and body. Jessica hanging on in a high guard. Tying up when she can, trying to get a break..."

McCarthy: "Just run some clock right now..."

O'Dell: "That's clearly the plan. And, she's managed to make the final thirty seconds. Perry banging away, looking to find the 'off' switch, but can't seem to do it. Jessica doing enough offensively to keep the referee at bay. Five seconds left, and there's the bell. Pare survives. But, Katy pitches the shutout."

Tess: "And cuts the Canadian's lead to 48-47 at the half."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Sixth begins with Perry still looking to finish. Pare's legs looking a little better, but they're far from all the way back, and Katy knows it. Blonde stepping to, sitting down on punches, making with the heavy leather. Jessica tying up, but Perry punching free and getting back to work..."

Cassie: "This is where you REALLY don't want to be against Perry...in those gun sights..."

O'Dell: "But, that's where Jessica's found herself since the early part of the fifth round. She's managed to avoid a finisher so far, but she's taken a LOAD of punishment, and there's no question that's going to add up...RIGHT HAND, PERRY and DOWN GOES JESSICA!"

Tess: "I leave the singing to Cassie, but..."

O'Dell: "Pare blasted to her back by an absolutely BRUTAL right hand from the blonde former champion. Perry to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Six. Pare rolling to her belly at seven. She's pushing to hands and knees at eight. Nine. TEN! Jessica still on all fours as the count passes her by! It's OVER! And your winner by KO6 is 'The Santa Barbara Slugger', Katy Perry!"

McCarthy: "Lucky punch..."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Katy Perry, and, Katy, close fight...for awhile..."

Katy (nodding): "She can box. No question about it. She's proven it before, and she proved it tonight. What she couldn't do was deal with my power. But. Not many women CAN."

Tess: "Tenth Anniversary Front Street...I'm sure you expect to be a part of that..."

Katy: "Well. I suspect Wiz wants the best lightweight in the world in his stable. So. Yeah."
