HAYLEY ATWELL VS NICOLA CAVANIS

Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Hayley: 39 YO, 5’6 ½ (1.69 m), FCBA: 13-12-0, 13 KO since 2015, Pretty Little Punchers

Nicola: 22 YO, 5’9 (1.75 m), FCBA Debut, Revolution Boxing

Before: “I wanted to make my FCBA debut against someone who really tough and would show that I have what it takes to succeed here. So I was more than happy to take on Hayley Atwell. I think you will all be impressed with how well I do against her,” the German fashion model Nicola Cavanis tells the pre-fight presser. “I think this will be a very memorable debut for me.”

Hayley Atwell seems less impressed: “It will be the same familiar story bigger woman gets taken down by a smaller, older, but much more ring experienced opponent. I don’t ignore the fact I’m giving up nearly 3 inches against Nicola, but I’ve been taller opponents before who had a lot more experience than she does. Sorry Nicola, but the only thing memorable about this fight will be your failure against me.”

Nicola scowls at this, but says only: “You will not be saying that after the fight.”

Tension between newcomer and veteran is still strong when the two enter the ring on Fight Night. Hayley in a blue one piece swimsuit with black gloves and boots (blue laces). Hayley’s hair is in a battle braid down her back. Nicola in red one piece swimsuit with red gloves and boots (black laces). Hair is pulled back in ponytail. Hayley and Nicola cool, but tense during ring instructions. Token glove tap after the instructions and then the fighters are back in their corners. DING! DING! The bell sounds and the fighters come out to start the contest….

R1: Hayley showing Nicola veteran footwork as she bobs, weaves and feints around the newcomer. All the while Hayley was firing in hard blows to Nicola’s jaw and the side of her head. Nicola kept trying to counter, but couldn’t quite get a solid counter on the evasive Hayley. Then Hayley went after Nicola’s chest with stinging straight in rights and lefts plus some hooks to the underside of the bouncing boobs. Nicola was not liking that at all. She managed some counters into Hayley’s won rack but then got clipped hard to the chin with a Hayley Atwell right uppercut. Nicola was put back on her heels. Hayley finished the round by pounding Nicola’s midsection to the bell. Nicola left breathing hard as Hayley walked away with a smug smile on her face.

R2: Nicola roughed up in the previous round is out fast for R2 and she startles Hayley with a slashing right to the jaw that nearly knocked Hayley off her feet. Nicola moves swiftly to pound Hayley with body blows and shots off the head to drive the veteran into the ropes. Hayley trying to fight her way clear of the strands but gets driven back by hooks to the belly. Hayley smashed to the chin and sags into the strands, just covering her face as Nicola drives hook after hook into Hayley’s shuddering body from breasts to ribs to deep in the stomach. Hayley huddled there, getting worked over very nicely by Nicola with the ropokie’s punching only stopping at the bell. Hayley looking stunned as she peels herself off the ropes while Nicola has a vengeful grin. Nicola Cavanis wins her first FCBA round by a wide margin.

R3: Now Hayley and Nicola are both out quickly and seeking to take control. Hayley gets to Nicola’s chin with a fast right/left combo, but Nicola lifts Hayley’s chin with a crackling right uppercut. Two fall back, circle each other and then plunge back in. This time they are trading big, booming punches to the belly that sends the two of them stumbling back all doubled over, but then quickly shake this off. Nicola charges in close, again attacking Hayley with hooks to the stomach. Hayley standing her ground and giving Nicola powerful hooks to the midsection. Nicola absorbs the blows and pushes back with her own hooks. Hayley forced to give ground, bent at the waist, but still punching back to slow Nicola’s advance. Two are going at it toe to toe at the bell with additional rib and jugg punching. Referee has to separate the two who are both now drenched in sweat and panting hard, but still trying to stare down each other. Tight round on the judges’ cards, but they give it to Nicola Cavanis by a narrow margin.

R4: Again both fighters are out of their corners at a good speed, but this time Nicola gets in the first blow: a solid hook to Hayley’s stomach. Hayley put on her heels, but as Nicola moves in to follow up, Hayley stuffs a hook of her own into the rookie’s midsection. Now it is Nicola falling back and Hayley attacks with rights and lefts to the jaw. Nicola can’t seem to get her mitts up to block Hayley’s head shots. Then Hayley lands a beautiful upward sweeping right that catches Nicola flush under the chin. Nicola thrown back, hits the ropes and slides down to land in a sitting position with a stunned look are her bruised and swollen face. Hayley trots to the neutral corner. Referee moves in to start counting. Nicola shaking her head, trying to clear the cobwebs and then uses the nearby ropes to help her climb back to her feet. Nicola just makes it up at “NINE!” Referee checks Nicola over and then waves Hayley back in. Nicola just going face-in-gloves while hunching up to let Hayley pound away at her to the flanks. Nicola still standing at the bell, but the knockdown assures that Hayley Atwell will win the round wide.

R5: Hayley comes out confidently, but Nicola comes out with a look of determination. Hayley again striking first with a right aimed at Nicola’s chin, but Nicola ducks down and the blow misses. Instantly, Nicola shoots to her feet with all her power in a right uppercut that CRASHES into Hayley Atwell’s jaw. Hayley’s head snaps back and DOWN GOES HAYLEY. Hayley lands on her back. Knees bent upwards and arms out-flung. Nicola heads for the neutral corner as referee stands over Hayley and counts. Hayley struggles to rise and finally makes it back to her feet at “EIGHT!” Referee looks Hayley over and then signals to Nicola to resume the fight. Hayley seems to be trying to show the knockdown as a fluke as she advances to take on Nicola, but Nicola plows right and left hooks into Hayley’s belly. Hayley doubled up, backing away as Nicola advances driving Hayley into the ropes. Hayley trying to escape by sliding along the strands, but then Nicola bursts through Hayley’s high guard pound to head and jaw. Hayley’s arms sink to her sides and she’s helpless as Nicola’s punches knock her hed from right to left and back again. AND THE REF JUMPS IN! Official cradles the out-on-her-feet Hayley to safety. Nicola shows a big grin of victory as she raises her arms in triumph.

THE WINNER IN HER FCBA DEBUT FIGHT: NICOLA CAVANIS OF REVOLUTION BOXING DEFEATS HAYLEY ATWELL OF TH PRETTY LITTLE PUNCHERS INC. BY TKO IN THE 5TH ROUND!

After: “I am SO glad I was able to won this fight. I really do belong in the FCBA. I am eager for my next fight. I beat Hayley Atwell to a stoppage—who will I get to beat down next? I cannot wait to find out!”

Hayley Atwell doesn’t speak to the press until later, but she tells Skip Tracey of the Archer News Service: “I got careless after I knocked her down in the 4th. I was so sure I would be able to finish her off that I got taken down hard. My head was foggy after that knockdown and I don’t remember what happened after that. Nicola’[s tough, I will admit, but if I had been smarter, I’d have taken her!”

Very good debut victory for Nicola Cavanis she came back from a R4 knockdown to put Hayley Atwell on the canvas in R5. Hayley got up too, but that now looks like a mistake as she was pounded defenseless by Nicola until the referee stepped in. Disappointing loss for Hayley who could have won this one, but didn’t. Still, Hayley’s a tough veteran and we expect to see her bounce back from this loss. Meanwhile Nicola’s newfound fans are looking forward to what the Revolution Boxing fighter does next.
