Before: Charlize takes a tough tune up to stay sharp, knowing a storm’s on its way in her division. Davidovich also making it personal with her bullying of Lucy Liu on the set of their recent movie and a sense of ‘picking on someone your own size’ permeates pre-fight discourse. Davidovich happy to comply and pundits think the Liu episode probably a pre-meditated move to get Theron to the table, Charlize in white string bikini, Lolita in red push up, red bikini bottoms, hair up.

During R1: Blistering opener puts crowd ion its feet. Theron boxing with an eye to opening up Lolita for right hands, and by the midway point, the blonde is pouring in rights by the truckload, hammering D to the ropes with headsnapping blows to the chin. Funny thing happens on the way to beat down--Lolita sucks it up and comes back with rights of her  own, and Charlize goes wobbly butt in the final minute. Girls reverse their position in wild slugging action--Theron’s back now to the ropes, and she goes numb, arms crossing as Lolita smacks Davidovich bellowing in triumph as Theron staggers to her corner.

R2: Much more tentative Charlize Theron gets on her Oscarcycle and melts away from Lolita behind a brisk, painless jab. D stalking, chopping the odd counter right hand over the jab, can’t put Theron on the ropes or cut off the ring, but she’s easily the aggressor, taking the points on that basis.

R3-6: Round after round, Lolita comes out the puncher, looking to walk Charlize down, but the tall blonde wont cooperate. Charlize deftly steering the redhead with the jab, pivoting clockwise after hooking Lolita’s jaw line, basically winning the fight with her left hand. Davidovich getting picked apart, continues to stalk, but isn’t getting off except the odd single reaching blow--Charlize’s excellent lateral movement is giving the redhead problems.

R7: Shutout Charlize as she does it smart this time, having banked several rounds and put wear and tear on her opponent at this point. Now the right hand mixes in, finding Lolita’s mouth and eye with tragic ease, cracking back Davidovich’s head and leaving her helpless as Charlize slinks to the left. By the final minute, Charlize stepping into short curling right hands o the face has D on the ropes, and a satisfying beating at the bell leaves Lolita lolling, glassy-eyed.

R8-10: Charlize continues to step around her opponent, content to box, touch up Lolita’s face with jabs, and lean into the odd right hand on the mouth to keep Red hurting. D just outclassed, can’t line the blonde up, and her increasing desperation leaves her wide open to Charlize’s composed counter shots. Theron refuses to take the bait as Lolita continually waves her in--preferring to coast to an easy points win from the perimeter. UD10 Charlize Theron as Lolita loses 9 rounds.

After: Discretion the better part of valour as Theron keeps her distance, refuses to trade with Lolita, and lets her jab, legs win this fight big. Davidovoich labels Theron a "chickenspit runner" after the fight, but her badly swollen face and dejected appearance belie the truth. Exactly the fight Charlize needed--she gets rounds, doesn’t get busted up, and is in a good position as the rest of the division fights itself into shape.
