BRUNETTE AMBITION AT THE ASYLUM III: SEASON OF THE WITCH PPV

Posted by HBO's Boxing At The Asylum on Nov 30, 2020 at 3:03am

BEFORE:

"I was WONDERING if I'd ever get an invite to Asylum," says Chrissy with a lovely smile. "Of course, after I put my good friend Brooke through Hell at Queendom, I'm not surprised it took four years!"

"She can hit," Gemma admits with a nod. "She's capable of beating girls. But, like the saying goes, not THIS girl."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Wild' by John Legend, and here comes the other half of that Hollywood couple, the beautiful Chrissy Teigen!"

McCarthy: "Did she HAVE to mention that overblown, egotistical, overrated DECKER? I HATE her!"

Cassie: "The only list longer than the list of people you hate is the list of people with higher IQs than you..."

McCarthy: "You LITTLE..."

O'Dell: "Now, calm DOWN Mac, and let's concentrate on the ring, where Chrissy is being helped off with the robe to reveal an azure number that has the crowd popping. And, that's 'London Calling' by the Clash you hear booming behind us, and here comes 'The Gravesend Gladiator', Gemma Arterton!"

Tess: "Gems another of those Front Street girls who's in the title picture...though that's complicated by Hill's winning the belts last month...which makes the Front Street lightweight division even MORE competitive..."

Cassie: "What my BFF is trying to say is, Gemma wants to get the 'W' tonight..."

Tess (laughing): "Yeah. That..."

O'Dell: "Arterton into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that violet two piece we've seen before. And, the ladies are about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess likes Gemma. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Teigen HAS an FCBA win, but she mentioned DECKER. I'm going with Gemma!"

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "And, we have our first unanimous panel. Gemma looking to set up and work at range as we get started here. That's what the lovely Brit likes, but Chrissy's got a different idea. Teigen wants to get physical early. She's stepping to, backing up Arterton with some heavy shot right now..."

Cassie: "Teigen definitely likes to brawl, and she's getting her way at the moment..."

O'Dell: "Certainly is, and it's working in her favor. She's got Gems on the defensive here, throwing lots of heavy leather, keeping Arterton off balance. Gemma wants to get things organized, but that's not the way this is going down. Instead, Teigen's calling the tune and it's all about the physical..."

McCarthy: "Doing some body work now, too."

O'Dell: "Is, indeed. Already pretty clear what the fight plan is for Teigen. It's going to be all about pressure, and, at the moment, it's working very, very well. Gems spending too much time backing and covering and not enough getting work done. There's the bell. First in the books, and it's Teigen wide."

Tess: "And, with the 10-9 lead."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second verse, same as the first. Teigen very aggressive, working forward, not allowing Gems to get set and get to boxing. Arterton working hard to get some space, but, at the moment, unable to do it. Chrissy succeeding in crowding her, forcing her backward..."

McCarthy: "At some point, Gemma's got to put her foot in the ground."

O'Dell: "No doubt about it, because, what's happening now isn't going to work for her. But, at the moment, she's not able to stabilize her front. She's being forced back, forced to the defensive as Chrissy continues to aggressively toss heavy leather at the British beauty..."

Tess: "Good right hand for Teigen there!"

O'Dell: "Sure was. Gemma not hurt, but Chrissy following up with another heavy volley. Teigen's corner has to be loving this. This is exactly what their girl wanted to do, and she's getting it done. Ten seconds left in the second. Another good flurry from Chrissy and there's the bell. No doubts again. Teigen. Wide."

Cassie: "And, Chrissy's now up a pair, 20-18."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Chrissy forward again. Gemma now doubling up on her jab, trying to create space that way. Having a little success with it. She's slowing Teigen down, and that's allowing Arterton a little time to follow on with right hands, get some scoring going rather than spend the round being backed up..."

McCarthy: "If she can get to range and stay there, she's going to have a big advantage."

O'Dell: "Round going better for Gemma, but, she's still not able to completely enforce the terms she wants. Instead, Chrissy's still able to get forward at times, work some body, get her brawl on. And, when she's doing that, Teigen is getting the better of things, unlike when Gemma's able to box..."

Cassie: "May well come down to terms, as fights like these so often do."

O'Dell: "Coming down the stretch. Arterton working the jab, staying at range, landing a nice combination. Chrissy working past now, inside, banging away. Gemma firing back and they are going AT it in there right now! Sweat flying as some heavy shot lands and there's the bell! Close one. Arterton."

Tess: "And, Gemma cuts the lead in half. It's 29-28, Teigen."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Arterton starting to get rolling now. She's getting that double-tap jab on, stopping Teigen in her tracks. She's following on with nice right hands, getting off in combination consistently now. Chrissy still trying to get forward, get inside and bang, but not able to at the moment."

McCarthy: "This is what I'm talking about. If Arterton can box..."

O'Dell: "And, at the moment, she's absolutely boxing, and she's doing it very, very well. Gemma really getting into a rhythm, setting up punches, using the jab effectively. Chrissy still working hard, but she's not getting very much done. Arterton calling the tune now, and it's not one Teigen wants to dance to."

Tess: "Chrissy taking a lot of heavy shot right now..."

O'Dell: "She is, and she's taking them very well. What she's NOT doing is giving much back at the moment. Arterton has taken control of this fight, and she's punishing Teigen at the moment, not just outscoring her. Final seconds tick away and there's the bell. Not close. Gemma."

Cassie: "And, we're even at 38."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Gemma back to work. She's got it all going now, in a rhythm, using the left hand to stop Teigen, control her, open her up for hard right hands. Chrissy game, but she's unable to get much done now and DOWN SHE GOES! Oh, what a RIGHT HAND from Arterton and Teigen flat on her back!"

Cassie: "Just set it up perfectly, Jenny!"

O'Dell: "Gems to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Chrissy rolling to her belly. Six. Seven. To hands and knees. Eight. And Teigen to her feet. Wasn't sure she was going to beat it, but she did. Ref going to give her the mandatory and waive on Gemma, who's calling in the heavy guns!"

Tess: "This is going to be a looooonnnggggg two minutes for Teigen..."

O'Dell: "Gemma quickly forcing her rival to the ropes and OPENING UP ON HER! Chrissy being battered by a series of heavy punches, buffeted along the ropes as she tries to hang on. Ref looking in closely and HE'S SEEN ENOUGH! Referee leaps in and bundles Teigen to safety and it's OVER! And your winner by TKO5 is 'The Gravesend Gladiator', Gemma Arterton!"

McCarthy: "She's lucky, too. Lucky that's not Palicki in there!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Gemma Arterton, and, Gems, a lot of aggression from Chrissy early..."

Gemma (nodding): "She's VERY physical and she can hit, so, she wanted to bring that and I had to deal with it. I dealt with it."

O'Dell: "So, what's next for you? Is it time to take a holiday until 2021?"

Gemma (smiling): "Well. We'll just have to see what management thinks about that, won't we?"
