Before:
Two bantamweights collide and the vitriol is spilling into the press conference from Brie Larson, who starts the talking.
“What has Daisy done in the FCBA?” Brie asks, “Lost to Lizzie Olsen. Lost to everyone else. She’s the definition of a .500 fighters.”
Ridley rolls her eyes, “Hey, you have no right to talk, you aren’t even .500 on the year.” The press guffaws at the Brit’s response, “And you just sound angry that your stablemate Olsen is doing better than you this year. Now, as to your other point, yes, there are some fights that I wish I had one this year that I ended up losing. But that happens, and I’m going to show you that you are not the fighter you think you are.”
Larson storms off, not bothering to respond to Ridley, who is surprised by how irritable Brie is.
The blonde Brie makes her way to the ring, wearing a pink sports bra and trunk with black gloves. The American actress paces around the ring as Daisy makes her entrance. Ridley has chosen to wear a white sports bra with blue drunks and white gloves with blue trim. Daisy holds out her gloves, but Brie merely backs off, not wanting to bump gloves. Ridley shakes her head as the ref calls for the bell, and this fight is underway.
Round 1:
The first round starts off with both actresses cautiously circling each other, probing the other’s guard with jabs. Ridley is the more energetic of the two from the start, throwing more jabs and moving about more quickly than her blonde opponent, but she can’t do much more than have her blows get blocked by Larson. Brie cautiously jabbing back in what seems to be trademark Fates-style fighting, and it doesn’t take long for the Avenger to land a solid left to Daisy’s chin, and the brunette girl drops back as she covers her head. Larson advancing cautiously, working her blows into Ridley’s toned body, but the Brit isn’t just taking the blows without fighting back – her blue gloves shooting out at the American’s head, landing a glancing blow off of the blonde’s ear and following up with a left shot to the ribs. Ridley shows a right but she’s left herself open and Larson slams a right into the brunette’s nose and sends the actress into the ropes as the round ends. Brie comes out ahead in the first round in this fight between the two bantams.
Round 2:
The brunette Brit gets out of her corner quickly and catches her blonde American foe with a left hook, knocking the older girl backwards. Larson blocks the right follow-up and responds with a right of her own, but her blow rushes past Ridley’s ear and the brunette slams a right into Larson’s mouth and Brie staggers backwards as she covers up. Daisy on the offensive, picking around Brie’s guard with her blows, working on the blonde girl’s body and getting her into the ropes. Larson shoots out a vicious right jab into Ridley’s chin, giving the blonde enough room to quickly get out of the ropes and back to the center of the ring. The two girls start trading jabs again as they circle each other, the two seemingly evenly matched on that front. Larson lands two rights into Ridley, but Daisy comes back with a straight jab into the side of Brie’s face before the round ends. Daisy wins the second round thanks to her early domination of the round, wide.
Round 3:
Ridley moving out of the Knockout Babes corner quickly, but Larson blocks her opponent’s initial strike before landing a quick shot to Daisy’s ribs, knocking her back and forcing the British girl to readjust. Daisy shifts to her right and sticks Brie in her mouth, knocking the blonde backwards. Ridley steps up and hits Larson with a left, but the American responds with a right uppercut that nearly drops the Brit! Daisy stumbles backwards and Brie buries a right into the brunette’s body as she knocks her into the ropes. Larson teeing off on Ridley’s body as the brunette covers up and eventually clinches, and the two girls struggle briefly before the referee breaks them apart. Out of the break, Brie lands two early blows, but Daisy finds a right in return that buys her some space. The two girls circle each other again, each probing the other as the round ends. Brie Larson comes out ahead and retakes the lead on points, wide.
Round 4:
The match starts to open up as Larson and Ridley start moving around the ring much more quickly, with the two girls trading blows evenly as they both put their reach to good use. Brie lands two blows into Daisy’s jaw before dropping back, but she isn’t quick enough and Daisy returns the favor. Larson dances around the ring, faking right as Ridley calls her bluff and smashes her gloves into the blonde’s face. Daisy advances, darting left and right as she lands her blows into Brie’s body, always retreating before Brie can truly punish her. Ridley more than happily chipping around Larson’s guard as the blonde girl just can’t seem to find a response until she lands a right from her back foot that halts Daisy’s offensive. Brie tries to follow up with a right to the head, but isn’t able to as Daisy blocks the blow and forces the blonde to go for her body, landing a pair of ribshots. Ridley ends the round with a ribshot of her own, and it’s pretty clear – Daisy evened everything up in the fourth.
Round 5:
Daisy the more energetic girl from the opening as she’s throwing all sorts of jabs at Brie, forcing the blonde girl onto her back foot. Larson keeps her guard up as Ridley just pounds around it, making the blonde American wince. The Brit seizes on her opponent’s pain and hammers a vicious left through Brie’s guard and knocks her back into the ropes. Ridley winds up and shoots out a right that Larson barely moves her head out of the way for and crushes Daisy’s chin with an uppercut that leaves her wobbly! Ridley moving backwards as she gets her arms up but Larson is able to connect with another uppercut and this time drops Ridley! Brie gets out of the way as the ref starts to count over the actress. Daisy pushes herself to all fours as she shakes her head at the count of six. She gets one leg under her with one knee down at nine and pushes herself up – no, the ref claims he got to ten before she got up and has called for the bell! Your winner by KO5 in controversial fashion, Brie Larson!
After:
The Knockout corner gets into the ring to talk to the referee, with Daisy having a stunned expression on her face from the result. Brie Larson meanwhile is touring the ring before leaving, not even bothering to talk to Daisy Ridley after the fact. The referee escapes the ring and runs for the back as the crowd concurs with the Knockout corner.
Brie Larson doesn’t even talk about the controversy to the press, merely saying, “I am better than she is. End of discussion,” and walks out.
Daisy Ridley speaks to the press a while later, clearly frustrated with what happened, “Obviously, I’m not happy with the result. I will say this though: this was not the last time Brie and I get in the ring together. And the next time we do, I’ll get the victory that I deserve.” |
