MELISSA BENOIST VS PRIYANKA CHOPRA

Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Melissa: 32 YO, 5’7 (1.70 m), 13-13-0, 13 KO since 2015. Pretty Little Punchers

Priyanka: 38 YO 5’6 ½ (1.69 m), 14-15-0, 14 KO since 2015, Hawkeye International

Before: HISC’s Priyanka Chopra says: “This will be ‘Big Choppy’ vs ‘Supergirl’. Who could ask rfr a more interesting match up. I am truly looking forward to this fight—an winning it.”

Melissa Benoist says: “I am looking forward to this fight myself—but I am looking forward to being the winner. I expect a tough fight, but I will be the tougher fighter and get the win.”

Priyanka doesn’t reply, she just smiles slightly and shakes her head. Looks like Melissa hasn’t convinced her who will emerge the winner.

Fight night fins Melissa coming to the ring in a royal blue one piece swimsuit with white gloves and boots (blue laces). Her hair is pulled back in a battle braid down her back. Priyanka enters wearing a red one piece swimsuit with black globes and boots (red places). Hair is pulled back in a battle braid.

The ring instructions went with smooth efficiency. Priyanka and Melissa tapped gloves and went to their corners. The bell rang…

R1: Priyanka went straight for Melissa and there was sustained exchange of punches to head and body. Then Priyanka landed solid left to the jaw and then a sharp right. Melissa was staggered by the blows. Priyanka swiftly followed with pounding hooks to the stomach that doubled Melissa up with a groan. Then Priyanka added some rising shots to Melissa’s overhanging breasts. Melissa scooted away and managed to use her jab to stall Priyanka’s advance. The round ended and the judges awarded it to Priyanka Chopra by a wide margin.

R2: Melissa Benoist responded to being roughed up n the opening round by charging out at the bell for the second. She came at Priyanka, did a nice job of faking a head shot left while bringing her right hook crashing into Priyanka’s midsection. Priyanka jackknifed forward and Melissa now fired away the HISC fighter to the jaw with rights and lefts, then adding a clipping right uppercut to the chin. Priyanka was now falling back, trying to protect her head face, while Melissa now worked her to the body. Melissa drove Priyanka back towards the ropes, but the brunette managed to scramble away to mid ring. Melissa went after her and resumed work on Priyanka’s body. Priyanka was using her jab to counter, but it did not seem to discourage Melissa very much as she remained dominate to the bell. The round went wide to Melissa Benoist.

R3: Priyanka now came out with the apparent determination to regain control of the fight, but she quickly found Melissa was not about to let her do that. They smacked at each other to the head, but then moved in closer to battle it out to the body. They were down toe to toe and bringing short hard rights and lefts up into stomach, ribs and breasts. It was just hard, grinding action, but Melissa then was able to set her feet and this added extra power to her punches. Priyanka began to shudder and groan, then she fell slowly back—still punching, but in retreat. It was enough to allow Melissa to win the round by a close margin.

R4: Priyanka was not about to give up her comeback efforts, Again she was quick out of her corner, but this time she got more power into her opening blows to Melissa’s jaw. Melissa’s head as ripped to the right and then to the left. Then Priyanka neatly added a crunching right uppercut to send Melissa teetering backwards. Priyanka then pounded away at Melissa to the body as the blonde tried to protect her head. Then a double book to the belly sent Melissa’s butt slamming into the ropes. Melissa could only huddle there as Priyanka worked her body over from breasts to belly and back again. Melissa was sagging in the ropes, but she did not go down. The bell rang to end her ordeal. Priyanka gave her gloating smile and then marched to her corner. Melissa was much slower going to her corner as the judge had no trouble giving Priyanka the round by a comfortable margin.

R5: The PLP corner crew did a good job getting Melissa out for the next round and she showed her courage by challenging Priyanka in close. This meant her battered body was on the line as she pounded away at Priyanka’s. The two of them circled each other a bit, but mostly they stayed in a small area of the mid ring and went at each other to the body. The steady drumfire of punches slamming into aching bodies was heard over and over as the minutes ticked away. Then, slowly, Priyanka seemed to fold forward under Melissa’s determined attack on her stomach and ribs. She pulled back in the closing moments of the round and this seemed to be why Melissa was awarded a very close win for the round.

R6: Now it the HISC corner working hard to get their fighter out for the new round. Priyanka moved promptly off her stool and headed for mid-ring. However, this time, Priyanka seemed to show no interest in a close in body fight. Priyanka kept her distance and struck at Melissa with quick blows to the jaw and side of the head. This seemed to irk the blonde and Melissa charged in trying to force another close-in fight. However Priyanka suddenly met the charge with a right hook to the belly that got addition force from Melissa’s own forward momentum. Melissa went reeling back, bent over at the waist and gasping for air. Priyanka saw Melissa’s chin unguarded and slammed home one-two-three-four uppercuts. The last lifted Melissa off her feet and sent her crashing hard to the canvas. She lay there with her arms over her head and her eyelids fluttering. Priyanka went to the neutral corner and watched, but she need not have worried. Melissa Benoist was unable to do more than push herself up on her right arm and look sadly at the referee.

“EIGHT!...NINE!...TEN!...YOU ARE OUT!”

THE WINNER: RIYANKA CHOPRA DEFEATS MELISSA BENOIST KO6!

After; “It was just a matter of time,” said Priyanka in the post-fight, “I could see the fighting was draining the energy out of her, but she kept coming back for more. I guess she thought it was doing the same to me. I was waiting for her to come charging in and then I was ready to take her out. Very nice win if I do say so myself.”

As for Melissa Benoist, she ltet tells the press: “Yes is wrong to think the body punching was draining me. Oh, sure it did some damage, but don’t let her fool you, I was doing more of it to her. That’s why she didn’t want any more of it in the 6th. I made a mistake rushing in like that and I fell for her trap. Call it a leaning experience. I won’t be so gullible again.”

It was a lively, hard hitting contest for the 6 rounds it lasted. Melissa did seem to be getting the better of Priyanka in the body battles, but the wily Priyanka lured her into a trap in the 6th and she ended up being knocked out. Good win for Priyanka which should help her credit with her HISC managers. Tough loss for Melissa, but she has shown the ability to bounce back from defeats so her fans can hope that will happen for the next time out.
